Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a communication cable and its manufacturing method.
Communication cables such as LAN (Local Area Network) cables are used to connect various devices such as between servers, between a server and a switch, and between a server and a personal computer. Such communication cables are standardized by ANSI/TIA, etc., and are classified into a plurality of categories according to transmission speed, transmission frequency band, and the like.
Conventionally, in the ANSI/TIA standards and the like, many communication cables have been developed that satisfy the standard characteristics of Category 6A, which has a transmission frequency band of 500 MHz. The communication cable generally has a cable core including a plurality of twisted pairs, a winding that covers the winding, a shielding layer that covers the winding, and a sheath that covers the shielding layer (for example, patent Reference 1). In the communication cable, cable cores are usually twisted at a pitch of about 100 mm. As the shielding layer, a laminated tape in which an aluminum layer is arranged on a polyethylene terephthalate (hereinafter also referred to as "PET") film is often used from the viewpoint of strength.
On the other hand, in recent years, ANSI/TIA standards and the like have established

A main object of the present invention is to provide a communication cable that is compatible with the
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention includes a cable core including a plurality of pairs of twisted pair wires, and a shielding tape covering the cable core, wherein the twist pitch of the cable core is 50 mm or less, and the shielding tape is A communication cable is provided which is an aluminum foil tape.
According to the communication cable of the present invention, it is possible to comply with the
The communication cable of the present invention is very useful as a so-called twisted pair cable for LAN. However, the use of the communication cable of the present invention is not limited to this use. Moreover, although one embodiment of the communication cable of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings, the communication cable of the present invention is not limited to the embodiment.
FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a
In conventionally known communication cables, the twist pitch of the cable core is about 100 mm, and a laminated tape of a PET film and an aluminum layer has been often used as a shielding tape. In this specification, the term "twist pitch" refers to the distance in the length direction of the communication cable required for the cable core to rotate 360°. The distance in the longitudinal direction of a communication cable required to rotate 360°. In the conventional communication cable having the structure described above, it was difficult to stably maintain electrical characteristics in a high frequency range.
On the other hand, as a result of intensive studies by the present inventors, when the twist pitch of the
First, the study by the present inventors demonstrated that there is a close relationship between the frequency of spikes occurring in the input impedance (Zin) and return loss (RL) and the twist pitch of the cable core. rice field. For example, in a communication cable with a twist pitch of 90 mm, spikes occurred near the frequency of 1109 MHz in the input impedance (Zin) and return loss (RL). When the twist pitch of the communication cable was 110 mm, the frequency of the spike portion was around 911 MHz. Further, when the twist pitch of the communication cable was 130 mm, the frequency of the spike portion was around 777 MHz. Furthermore, when the twist pitch of the communication cable was set to 50 mm, the frequency of the spike portion was around 2050 MHz. In other words, the smaller the twist pitch, the higher the frequency of the spike. When the twist pitch was 50 mm or less, spikes were less likely to occur at frequencies of 2000 MHz or less.
ここで、ケーブル内を伝わる信号の速さは、光速×NVPで表され、NVP(Nominal Velocity of Propagation)は0.7程度である。 The reason is considered as follows. Wavelength is generally expressed as wave speed/frequency, and the same relationship holds between the frequency and wavelength of a signal traveling through a cable. Here, the speed of the signal transmitted through the cable is represented by the speed of light×NVP, and NVP (Nominal Velocity of Propagation) is about 0.7. Therefore, applying this to the above formula (wavelength = wave speed/frequency), the wavelength of the electrical signal with a frequency of 2000 MHz is 300,000,000 [m/s] x 0.7/2 [GHz] = 105 mm becomes. Here, if the wavelength of the signal transmitted through the cable corresponds to an integer multiple (two times in this case) of the twist pitch, it is considered that they resonate and spikes are likely to occur. Therefore, if the twist pitch is set to 50 mm or less, which is less than 1/2 (=52.5 mm) of the wavelength of the signal at the frequency of 2000 MHz, the above resonance is less likely to occur in the frequency region of 2000 MHz or less, and spikes are less likely to occur. It is considered to be.
On the other hand, if the twist pitch of the cable core is set to 50 mm or less, as described above, the maximum spike portion shifts to the frequency range of over 2000 MHz and can be generally suppressed. As shown in the return loss (RL) graph of FIG. 2B, it was also confirmed that a spike portion remained near the frequency of 1200 MHz. Further, it has been difficult to improve the insertion loss (IL), the near-end crosstalk attenuation (NEXT), etc. simply by setting the twist pitch of the cable core to 50 mm or less. Therefore, when an aluminum foil tape was used as the
A schematic diagram of the

Moreover, the cross interposition 9 extends in the longitudinal direction of the

An annealed copper wire (single wire) having an outer diameter of 0.585 mm (AWG23) was prepared as a conductor. Then, high-density polyethylene was prepared as an insulator resin, and extruded from a die of an extruder to cover the conductor with an insulator. After that, two insulated wires with an outer diameter of 1 mm were twisted together to form a twisted pair wire with an outer diameter of about 2 mm. Subsequently, a cross bracing was prepared, four pairs of twisted pair wires were arranged along the cross bracing to form a cable core, and the cable core was twisted at a pitch of 90 mm.
After that, three sheets of shimizu (high-density polyethylene tape) were prepared and laterally wound around the cable core. Further, an Al/PET tape (Al thickness: 30 μm, PET thickness: 12 μm, width: 20 mm) was prepared as a shielding tape, and was laterally wound around the roll. At this time, the winding pitch was set to 18.9 mm, and the winding was performed by overlapping each 5 mm (1/4 lap). After that, polyvinyl chloride was prepared as a jacket resin, and was extruded through a die of an extruder to cover the shielding tape with the jacket, thereby producing a communication cable having an outer diameter of about 8.8 mm.

A comparison of samples 1-3 and samples 4-6 shows that shortening the twist pitch of the cable core increases the high-frequency spike (maximum spike) of the input impedance (Zin) and return loss (RL). It was confirmed that it moved to the frequency side. However, as shown in Table 1 above, none of the

As shown in Table 2 above, by not only reducing the twist pitch of the cable core to 50 mm or less, but also changing the shielding tape to aluminum foil, each spike disappears, and the input impedance (Zin) and return loss Both (RL) and insertion loss (IL) yielded good results.
