The optical signal incident on the third multimode optical fiber core wire from the second single mode optical fiber core wire of the second optical fiber cable is divided into the fourth multimode optical fiber core wire and the single mode optical fiber core wire. The lengths of the third and fourth multimode optical fibers are set so as to focus on the joint surface between them.
Optical signals from each of the first single-mode optical fiber core wires of the multi-core first optical fiber cable are sequentially passed through the first and second multimode optical fibers, and then through the second multimode optical fiber and the relay cable. focus on the interface between the single-mode optical fiber core wire. Multiple optical signals are superimposed and transmitted through the core of a single-mode optical fiber. The plurality of overlapping optical signals are radially split while being sequentially transmitted through the fourth and third multimode optical fiber core wires, and split in the third multimode optical fiber core wire and the second optical fiber. on each of the second single-mode optical fiber cores corresponding to each of the first single-mode optical fiber cores of the first optical fiber cable at the interface between each of the second single-mode optical fiber cores of the cable; Incident.
The same is true when the optical signal is transmitted in the reverse direction. That is, the optical signal from each of the second single-mode optical fiber core wires of the multi-fiber second optical fiber cable sequentially passes through the third and fourth multi-mode optical fiber core wires to the fourth multi-mode optical fiber. The focus is on the interface between the fiber core and the single-mode optical fiber core for repeater. A plurality of optical signals are superimposed and transmitted through the core of a single single-mode optical fiber. The plurality of superimposed optical signals are radially split while being sequentially transmitted through the second and first multimode optical fiber core wires, and the first multimode optical fiber core wire and the first optical fiber on each of the first single-mode optical fiber core wires corresponding to each of the second single-mode optical fiber core wires of the second optical fiber cable at the joint surface between each of the first single-mode optical fiber core wires of the cable; Incident.
According to the present invention, transmission of a plurality of optical signals between the multi-core first optical fiber cable and the multi-core second optical fiber cable can be performed using a single-core optical fiber cable. In other words, since a plurality of optical signals can be transmitted through a single single-mode optical fiber core wire, there is no need to connect multiple optical fiber core wires, and the wiring work between multiple optical fiber cables is simplified. become.

FIG. 2(A) is an explanatory diagram showing the optical fiber
As shown in FIG. 2B, the two-core first
For example, one of the first single-mode
As shown in FIG. 2(A), the first optical fiber

In this example, an optical signal that enters the first multimode optical

Between the first
For example, two types of optical signals simultaneously emitted from each of the first single-mode optical

At the first to sixth joint surfaces S(1) to S(6), both optical fibers can be optically coupled by fusion splicing using a fusion splicer. Also, instead of fusion splicing, an optical fiber array with a V-groove substrate can be used.
