Abstract
Description
さらに、人間の目は、最小パルス幅時の明るさであっても十分に認識できるため、フェードアウトする際に、照明が最小パルス幅時の明るさから突然消えたように見えてしまうという問題があった。
LEDに限らず、有機EL素子など、他の自発光素子を用いた表示パネルであっても同様である。
さらに、人間の目の明るさに対するダイナミックレンジは極めて広いものの、人間は低照度では色をほとんど感知できないことに着目し、低輝度素子を白色素子で構成してもよい。これにより、低輝度素子を単一種類の白色素子で実現できる。その結果、低輝度素子を三原色の各色の素子で構成する場合よりもパネルのコストを低減できる。
図1に、本発明の実施形態によるプラネタリウムの概略図を示す。本実施形態のプラネタリウムにおいては、ドーム2内の中央部に光学式恒星投影機は存在せず、ドーム2の内面に一面にLEDパネル1が配置されている。LEDパネル1の各々は、LED駆動回路3によって駆動される。
ここで、低輝度素子20を単一種類の白色LED素子21で構成する。これは、人間の目の明るさに対するダイナミックレンジは極めて広いものの、人間の視覚は低照度では色彩をほとんど感知できないからである。例えば、天の川は、実際には様々な色の天体の集合であるが、人間の目には白っぽく見える。そこで、低輝度素子20を、単一種類の白色LED21で構成することによって、低輝度素子20を三原色の各色のLED素子で構成する場合よりも、LEDパネルのコストを低減できる。
第1のPWM信号発生器31aから出力したPWM信号は、通常素子10に直列接続されたスイッチング素子32aをスイッチングし、一方、第2のPWM信号発生器31bから出力したPWM信号は、低輝度素子20に直列接続されたスイッチング素子32bをスイッチングする。図3に示した例では、スイッチング素子32a及び32bをPNPトランジスタで構成されている。なお、スイッチング素子32a及び32bは、PNPトランジスタに限定されず、例えば、TFTで構成してもよい。
そこで、低輝度素子20の駆動電流を微弱にすることなく、低輝度素子20の素子の輝度を小さくする例を説明する。

Claims (8)
- 複数の自発光画素ユニットが配列された自発光素子パネルであって、
前記複数の自発光画素ユニットの各々は、
自発光素子による赤色素子、自発光素子による緑色素子及び自発光素子による青色素子を含む通常素子と、
前記通常素子の最低輝度よりも低輝度の出力を行うための低輝度素子と
を備える自発光素子パネル。 - 複数のLED画素ユニットが配列されたLEDパネルであって、
前記複数のLED画素ユニットの各々は、
赤色LED素子、緑色LED素子及び青色LED素子を含む通常素子と、
前記通常素子の最低輝度よりも低輝度の出力を行うための低輝度素子と
を備えるLEDパネル。 - 前記低輝度素子は、白色LED素子を含む、請求項2に記載のLEDパネル。
- 前記低輝度素子は、赤色LED素子、緑色LED素子及び青色LED素子を含む、請求項2に記載のLEDパネル。
- 前記低輝度素子は、前記通常素子に印加される駆動電流と同じ大きさの駆動電流に対して、前記通常素子よりも低輝度の出力を行う、請求項2~4の何れかに記載のLEDパネル。
- 前記低輝度素子は、減光手段を備える、請求項2~5の何れかに記載のLEDパネル。
- 前記低輝度素子の最低輝度は、前記通常素子の最低輝度の1/100以下である、請求項2~6のいずれかに記載のLEDパネル。
- 請求項1に記載の自発光素子パネル又は請求項2~7のいずれかに記載のLEDパネルがドームの内面に一面に配置された、プラネタリウム。
