<Rubber odor modulator>
The rubber odor modulator of the present invention is characterized by containing a woody and spicy aroma component.
Here, the "modulator" refers to an agent that is mixed with a target odor and alleviates discomfort by modulating the target odor. This phenomenon is also called sensory deodorization.
The present inventors have diligently studied the odorous components of natural rubber, which has a particularly strong putrid odor and pungent odor among rubbers. It is known that formic acid, n-valeric acid, trimethylamine, and 2-pyrrolidone are the main odor components of natural rubber, but the present inventors have found that formic acid, n-valeric acid, and trimethylamine. A simulated odor of natural rubber odor consisting of, and 2-pyrrolidone was prepared, and a sample for studying a contributing substance was prepared by removing each odor component from the simulated odor, and the sensory evaluation was performed. As a result, formic acid and n-kichi were evaluated. It was found that formic acid, especially n-formic acid, has a great influence on the discomfort of odor.
Based on this finding, the present inventors further studied, and found that when a modulator containing a woody spicy odor component was added to the simulated odor of a natural rubber odor, the discomfort of the rubber odor was large. It has been found that it can be softened and the rubber odor can be effectively reduced.
The mechanism by which the woody spicy scent component greatly reduces the discomfort of rubber odors is not always clear, and we do not want to be bound by theory. , Trimethylamine, and 2-pyrrolidone odors, especially formic acid and n-valeric acid, are believed to be combined with woody spicy aroma components to alleviate the discomfort of those odors.
Therefore, according to the rubber odor modulator of the present invention containing a woody spicy odor component, the rubber odor can be effectively reduced.

<1. Examination of rubber odor contributing substances>
(1) Preparation of simulated odor of natural rubber odor Among rubbers, formic acid, n-valeric acid, trimethylamine, and 2-pyrrolidone are known as odor components of natural rubber having a particularly strong rotting odor and pungent odor. The contribution of each chemical substance to the odor was examined.
First, an odor composition having a formulation shown in Table 1 was prepared. Since the odor composition has too strong an odor, the odor composition was diluted 10-fold with liquid paraffin and adjusted to an odor intensity of 3 to prepare a simulated odor of a natural rubber odor.
(2) Preparation of sample for studying contributors Prepare a sample from which one substance is removed from the substances used to prepare the simulated odor, and dilute it with liquid paraffin in the same manner as the simulated odor to prepare a sample for studying contributors. Made.
(3) Evaluation of odor intensity, pleasantness / discomfort, tolerance, and odor quality The simulated odor of natural rubber with adjusted odor intensity and the sample for examining each contributor are attached to odor paper, and the odor intensity is increased. The panel evaluated the comfort / discomfort, tolerance, and odor quality.
In each evaluation, 26 men and women aged 18 to 19 who passed the panel selection test were selected as panels.
FIG. 1 shows the evaluation results of the odor intensity of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor and the sample for examining contributing substances.
Further, FIG. 2 shows the evaluation results of the degree of comfort and discomfort of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor and the sample for examining contributing substances.
In addition, FIG. 3 shows the evaluation results of the unacceptability rate of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor and the sample for examining contributors.
Further, FIG. 4 shows the evaluation results of the odor quality of the simulated odor of the natural rubber odor and the sample for examining the contributor.
From FIG. 1, it can be seen that the odor intensity is reduced by one step or more by removing n-valeric acid.
Further, from FIG. 2, it can be seen that the degree of discomfort is improved by one step or more by removing formic acid or n-valeric acid.
From these results, it can be seen that n-valeric acid has the highest contribution to the simulated odor of natural rubber odor in terms of odor intensity and pleasantness / discomfort, and the contribution of natural rubber odor to odor intensity and discomfort is particularly large. ..
Further, from FIG. 3, it can be seen that by removing formic acid or n-valeric acid from the simulated odor of the natural rubber odor, the unacceptable rate is reduced to around 25%. From this result, it can be seen that formic acid and n-valeric acid have a particularly high contribution to the simulated odor of the natural rubber odor even in the unacceptable state.
Further, from FIG. 4, it can be seen that the odor quality is different between the sample excluding formic acid or n-valeric acid and the sample excluding trimethylamine or 2-pyrrolidone.
In particular, when formic acid or n-valeric acid is removed, unpleasant evaluations such as pungent odor, isovaleric acid, rotting odor, and fecal odor are reduced. Therefore, formic acid and n-valeric acid are simulated odors of natural rubber odor. It can be seen that the quality of the odor, particularly the unpleasant odor such as pungent odor, isovaleric acid, rotten odor, and fecal odor, among the simulated odors, is greatly contributed.
<2. Sensory deodorant experiment >
(1) Preparation of odor sample An odor sample having the formulation shown in Table 2 was prepared, and a sensory deodorization experiment of the simulated odor of the above-mentioned natural rubber odor was carried out.
In addition, in order to match the ratio of the simulated odor of the natural rubber odor whose strength was adjusted and the simulated odor contained in each odor sample, the simulated odor was produced at a ratio of 10.0% and a fragrance of 90.0%. .. Of these, 90.0% of the fragrances corresponded to the modulators, all of which mainly had a spicy scent, and to a lesser extent, also had a woody scent.
Here, "ratio" means "ratio of mass".

(2) Evaluation of odor intensity, pleasantness / discomfort, tolerance, and odor quality A simulated odor of natural rubber odor with adjusted odor intensity and each odor sample adjusted using the simulated odor of natural rubber odor. , A sensory evaluation experiment was conducted on an odor sample that had been scented with a commercially available deodorant (manufactured by Shikibo Co., Ltd., trade name "Deomagic"). Each sample was attached to odor paper, and the panel was asked to evaluate the odor intensity, pleasantness / discomfort, tolerability, and odor quality, and to freely describe what they felt from the odor.
In each evaluation, 25 men and women aged 18 to 19 who passed the panel selection test were selected as panels.
FIG. 5 shows the evaluation results of the odor intensity of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor, the sample using a commercially available deodorant, and the odor samples of Examples 1 to 3.
Further, FIG. 6 shows the evaluation results of the pleasantness / discomfort of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor, the sample using a commercially available deodorant, and the odor sample of Examples 1 to 3.
Further, FIG. 7 shows the evaluation results of the unacceptability rate of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor, the sample using a commercially available deodorant, and the odor sample of Examples 1 to 3.
Further, FIG. 8 shows the evaluation results of the odor quality of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor, the sample using a commercially available deodorant, and the odor sample of Example 1.
From FIG. 6, it can be seen that the odor samples of Examples 1 to 3 have one or more steps of improvement in discomfort as compared with the simulated odor of the natural rubber odor whose odor intensity has been adjusted. In addition, the odor samples of Examples 1 to 3 satisfied the criteria of the Aroma Deodorant Deodorant Council.
Further, from FIG. 7, it can be seen that the odor samples of Examples 1 to 3 have a non-acceptance rate of about 20%, which can be improved to a standard of 20% or less of the odor standard of the Architectural Institute of Japan.
From these results, it can be seen that the rubber odor modulator according to the present invention is effective not only in reducing the pleasantness and discomfort of the simulated odor of natural rubber odor, but also in reducing the unacceptability rate.
Further, from FIG. 8, when the simulated odor of the natural rubber odor and the odor sample of Example 1 which was highly effective in terms of pleasantness and discomfort were compared, the odor quality reminiscent of a bad odor changed to the odor quality reminiscent of a refreshing feeling. The quality of the odor was improved.
In particular, it can be seen that the odor sample of Example 1 has few unpleasant evaluations such as pungent odor, isovaleric acid, putrefactive odor, and fecal odor, and the effects of the above-mentioned formic acid and n-valeric acid are alleviated.
(3) Classification of free descriptions by panelists Furthermore, the free descriptions of panelists were classified into edible expressions such as "confectionery" and "nuts" and natural expressions such as "floral" and "woody". The results are shown in Table 3.
As shown in Table 3, in the sample using a commercially available deodorant, there were few natural expressions and many edible expressions, whereas in the odor sample of Example 1, the edible expressions and natural expressions were natural. It was found that the expressions were seen to the same extent and the characteristics were different. In particular, since the odor sample of Example 1 had many natural expressions, the rubber odor modulator according to the present invention is effective in making the exhaust from the factory feel natural. I understand.
The modulator of the present invention can be used to reduce rubber odor.
