Description

The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus.

An image forming apparatus having an endless belt member and an image forming portion for forming an image in an image forming region facing the belt member is known. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a configuration in which a range corresponding to an image forming region in a belt member is supported by two roller members. In this configuration, this suppresses fluctuations in the tension of the belt member when adjusting the gap between the belt member and the image forming portion in the range.

Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 8-156353

By the way, in the configuration described in Patent Document 1, both end portions of the roller member in the axial direction are fixedly supported by predetermined portions of the device. Since both end portions of the roller member are fixedly supported, the central portion in the axial direction of the roller member is lowered by its own weight, so that the roller member is deformed to a state in which the central portion is bent, and the belt member is also flexed accordingly. There is a risk of swelling. As a result, the flatness of the belt member cannot be ensured, and the gap between the belt member and the image forming portion may not be adjusted accurately. Further, if an adjusting mechanism is provided in order to eliminate the bending of the belt member, the configuration may become complicated.

An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of ensuring the flatness of a belt member by a simple configuration.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of an image forming apparatus 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in FIG. 1, the image forming apparatus 1 is an inkjet type image forming apparatus, and includes a belt conveying device 2, a recording head 3, a support member 4, and the like.

In the belt transport device 2, an endless transport belt 23 having a predetermined width is stretched over a drive roller 21 and a driven roller 22 arranged in parallel at a predetermined interval. The upper surface of the transport belt 23 spanned by the drive roller 21 and the driven roller 22 is a mounting surface on which the recording medium P is placed in close contact with the transport belt 23. The conveyor belt 23 corresponds to the "belt member" of the present invention.

The surface of the transport belt 23 is coated with an adhesive called grounding in order to bring the recording medium P being transported into close contact with the upper surface of the transport belt 23. Further, the drive roller 21 is driven by a sub-scanning motor (not shown).

In the belt transfer device 2, the drive roller 21 is rotated at a predetermined speed in the counterclockwise direction (see the arrow) in FIG. 1 by the rotational drive of the sub-scanning motor, so that the drive roller 21 is bridged with the driven roller 22. The conveyor belt 23 is rotated and moved. By such an operation, the recording medium P mounted on the upper surface of the transport belt 23 is transported in the direction of the arrow A in the drawing, which is the sub-scanning direction.

As the recording medium P, for example, a recording medium usually used for inkjet recording such as paper, cloth, a plastic film, and a glass plate can be used. The recording medium P may be in the form of a sheet cut to a predetermined size, or may be in the form of a long piece that is continuously unwound from the original winding wound in a roll shape.

A belt cleaning device (not shown) is provided on the side of the belt transport device 2 opposite to the transport surface of the recording medium P. The belt cleaning device removes foreign matter adhering to the transport belt 23.

The recording head 3 has a plurality of inkjet heads, and is arranged so as to face each other on the transport belt 23 above the surface on which the recording medium P is placed at a predetermined interval. The recording head 3 ejects ink droplets to a predetermined image forming region from a large number of nozzles provided on the lower surface thereof.

The predetermined image forming region is the region of the opposite portion between the recording head 3 and the transport belt 23. The length of the predetermined image forming region in the transport direction of the transport belt 23 corresponds to the length of the recording head 3 in the transport direction.

The recording head 3 records a desired image on the recording medium P which is conveyed by the rotational movement of the conveying belt 23 and passes through the image forming region. The recording head 3 corresponds to the "image forming unit" of the present invention.

In the present embodiment, the recording head 3 is a shuttle type recording head mounted on a carriage (not shown) and reciprocating in the chief examiner direction orthogonal to the conveying direction of the recording medium P which is intermittently conveyed. In this case, at the time of recording, the drive of the drive roller 21 is controlled so that the transfer belt 23 performs an intermittent operation of repeating the standby state and the drive state.

The recording head 3 is a line-type recording head that is fixedly bridged over the width direction of the transport belt 23 and records an image by ejecting ink droplets on a recording medium P that is continuously transported. It may be. In this case, at the time of recording, the drive of the drive roller 21 is controlled so that the transfer belt 23 continuously moves (rotates).

The support member 4 is a member that supports a portion of the transport belt 23 corresponding to an image forming region from the inside of the transport belt 23. The support members 4 are provided at two locations in the transport direction, one on the upstream side of the image forming region and the other on the downstream side of the image forming region. Details of the support member 4 will be described later.

Further, a tension roller 5 is provided on the inside of the transport belt 23 on the side opposite to the support member 4. The tension roller 5 is a roller that applies tension to the transport belt 23. The roller provided inside the transport belt 23 may be a roller that corrects the meandering of the transport belt 23.

FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing a main functional configuration of the image forming apparatus 1. The image forming apparatus 1 includes a control unit 100, a recording head drive unit 110, a transport drive unit 120, and an input / output interface 130.

制御部100は、CPU101(Central Processing Unit)、RAM102(Random Access Memory)、ROM103(Read Only Memory)および記憶部104を有する。 The control unit 100 includes a CPU 101 (Central Processing Unit), a RAM 102 (Random Access Memory), a ROM 103 (Read Only Memory), and a storage unit 104.

The CPU 101 reads out various control programs and setting data stored in the ROM 103, stores them in the RAM 102, executes the programs, and performs various arithmetic processes. Further, the CPU 101 comprehensively controls the overall operation of the image forming apparatus 1.

The RAM 102 provides the CPU 101 with a working memory space and stores temporary data. The RAM 102 may include a non-volatile memory.

なお、ROM103に代えて、EEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory)やフラッシュメモリー等の書き換え可能な不揮発性メモリーが用いられても良い。 The ROM 103 stores various control programs, setting data, and the like executed by the CPU 101. Instead of the ROM 103, a rewritable non-volatile memory such as an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) or a flash memory may be used.

記憶部104としては、例えばHDD(Hard Disk Drive)が用いられ、また、DRAM(Dynamic Random Access Memory)等が併用されても良い。 The storage unit 104 stores a print job (image recording command) input from the external device 140 via the input / output interface 130 and image data related to the print job. As the storage unit 104, for example, an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) may be used, or a DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) or the like may be used in combination.

The recording head drive unit 110 supplies a drive signal according to the image data to the recording head 3 at an appropriate timing based on the control of the control unit 100, thereby converting the pixel value of the image data from the nozzle of the recording head 3. Discharge the corresponding amount of ink.

The transport drive unit 120 rotates and moves the transport belt 23 at a predetermined speed and timing by supplying a drive signal to the sub-scanning motor of the drive roller 21 based on the control of the control unit 100.

The input / output interface 130 mediates the transmission / reception of data between the external device 140 and the control unit 100. The input / output interface 130 is composed of, for example, any of various serial interfaces, various parallel interfaces, or a combination thereof.

The external device 140 is, for example, a personal computer, and supplies an image recording command (print job), image data, and the like to the control unit 100 via the input / output interface 130.

Next, the details of the support member 4 will be described. FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the vicinity of the end portion of the support member 4. The left-right direction in FIG. 3 is the width direction of the transport belt 23.

As shown in FIG. 3, the support member 4 is a square pillar-shaped metal member (for example, aluminum) extending in the width direction of the transport belt 23, and supports the entire width direction of the transport belt 23 from the inside of the transport belt 23. ing. Since the configuration around the support member 4 is symmetrical on both sides in the width direction, only one end of the support member 4 (right end in FIG. 3) is shown in FIG. 3, and the other end of the support member 4 is shown. The illustration and description of the side end are omitted.

The end portions 4A of the support member 4 are fixed to both sides of the transport belt 23 in the image forming apparatus 1 in the width direction, that is, to the side walls 6 provided outside the end portion 4A of the support member 4. The support member 4 is arranged so that a quadrangular flat portion of the quadrangular prism faces the transport belt 23. The side wall 6 corresponds to the "fixing member" of the present invention.

A hole 4B through which the screw member 7 can be inserted is formed in the end portion 4A of the support member 4. Further, the side wall 6 is also formed with a hole 6A through which the screw member 7 can be inserted. The screw member 7 is inserted into the hole 4B of the support member 4 via the side wall 6 to fix the end portion 4A of the support member 4 to the side wall 6. That is, the end portion 4A of the support member 4 is fixedly supported by the side wall 6 and the screw member 7.

By being fixed in this way, the end portion 4A of the support member 4 is pulled toward the outside in the width direction of the transport belt 23 (see the arrow). Specifically, since the side wall 6 is a portion that cannot be moved in the image forming apparatus 1, by inserting the screw member 7 into the end portion 4A of the support member 4, the side wall 6 and the screw member 7 that do not move can be removed. The support member 4 moves relatively toward the side wall 6. That is, a load pulled toward the side wall 6 is applied to the support member 4 by the side wall 6 and the screw member 7. The side wall 6 and the screw member 7 correspond to the "pulled portion" of the present invention.

As described above, since the configuration near the support member 4 is symmetrical on both sides in the width direction, both ends of the support member 4 are pulled to the opposite sides by the side wall 6 and the screw member 7. In other words, the first end portion of the support member 4 in the width direction (for example, the right end portion in FIG. 3) and the second end portion of the support member 4 in the width direction (for example, the left end portion (not shown in FIG. 3)) are The side walls 6 and the screw members 7 corresponding to each are pulled to the opposite sides of each other.

For example, as shown in FIG. 4, it is assumed that there is a configuration in which both ends of a predetermined support member 10 are fixedly supported. In such a configuration, since the central portion of the support member 10 in the width direction is lowered by its own weight, the support member 10 is deformed into a state in which the central portion is bent. Therefore, the belt member 11 supported by the support member 10 may also bend according to the bending, so that the flatness of the belt member 11 may not be ensured. Therefore, when adjusting the gap between the belt member 11 and the image forming portion, the gap cannot be adjusted accurately.

Further, in order to eliminate the bending of the support member 10, for example, a configuration in which an adjusting mechanism capable of adjusting the bending is provided is conceivable, but such a configuration may complicate the configuration of the device as a whole. is there.

On the other hand, in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 5, the end portion 4A of the support member 4 is pulled toward the outside in the width direction of the transport belt 23. As a result, the amount of deflection of the central portion of the support member 4 due to the lowering of the central portion of the support member 4 in the width direction due to its own weight is reduced. That is, since the side wall 6 and the screw member 7 pull the end portion 4A of the support member 4 so as to correct the bending deformation of the central portion of the supporting member 4, the transport belt 23 bends according to the bending of the support member 4. That can be reduced.

That is, in the present embodiment, the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be ensured. As a result, a desired image can be formed on the recording medium P passing through the image forming region, and when adjusting the gap between the transport belt 23 and the recording head 3, the gap can be adjusted with high accuracy. it can.

Further, since the support member 4 is subjected to a tensile load, it is not necessary to provide an adjusting mechanism, so that the configuration can be simplified. Moreover, since it is not necessary to provide an adjustment mechanism, it is possible to save space and reduce costs of the device.

Further, since both ends of the support member 4 are fixed to the side wall 6 by the screw member 7, the support member 4 is fixed so as not to rotate.

If the support member 4 is rotatably fixed, the flatness of the transport belt 23 may deteriorate due to the rotation of the support member 4. For example, when the portion corresponding to the corner portion of the square pillar-shaped support member 4 faces the transport belt 23, the state of the transport belt 23 changes depending on the corner portion, and the flatness is deteriorated.

However, in the present embodiment, since the support member 4 cannot rotate, the flat surface portion of the support member 4 remains facing the transport belt 23. As a result, deterioration of the flatness of the transport belt 23 due to the rotation of the support member 4 can be suppressed, and eventually the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be improved.

Further, since both ends of the support member 4 are fixed separately, for example, when a manufacturing error occurs at each end, the degree of tightening of the screw members 7 on both sides can be adjusted separately. .. As a result, by adjusting the fixed state of the support member 4 for each end portion, it is possible to easily maintain the flatness of the transport belt 23 by the support member 4.

Further, two support members 4 are provided so as to sandwich the image forming region at two locations on the upstream side and the downstream side of the portion corresponding to the image forming region of the transport belt 23. As a result, the flatness of the portion corresponding to the image forming region of the transport belt 23 can be maintained on both the upstream side and the downstream side, and by extension, the flatness of the portion corresponding to the image forming region of the transport belt 23 is further ensured. Can be made easier.

In the above embodiment, the fixing portion of the end portion of the support member 4 is the central portion in the facing direction (vertical direction) between the support member 4 and the transport belt 23, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, as shown in FIG. 6, the fixing portion of the end portion of the support member 4 may be a portion closer to the transport belt 23 than the central portion (see the broken line C) of the support member 4 in the facing direction. In other words, the side wall 6 and the screw member 7 (pulling portion) pull the portion on the transport belt 23 side of the central portion of the supporting member 4 in the facing direction.

By doing so, the point of action of the tensile load applied to the support member 4 can be brought closer to the transport belt 23. As a result, the side of the support member 4 facing the transport belt 23 can be easily deformed, and the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be easily ensured.

Further, since the portion on the transport belt 23 side of the support member 4 is pulled in the opposite direction, the pulling force can be weakened as compared with the configuration of pulling the portion on the side opposite to the transport belt 23 from the central portion. .. As a result, the load applied to the support member 4 can be reduced, so that the durability of the support member 4 can be improved. Further, by weakening the pulling force of the support member 4, the transport belt 23 can be easily adjusted. Further, as a result, the force required for adjusting the transport belt 23 can be weakened, so that the adjustability of the transport belt 23 can be improved.

Further, in the configuration shown in FIG. 6, by locating the fixing portion of the support member 4 on the transfer belt 23 side, the side of the support member 4 facing the transfer belt 23 can be easily deformed. Not limited to this. For example, as shown in FIG. 7, the cross-sectional coefficient of the first portion 41 of the support member 4 may be lower than the cross-sectional coefficient of the second portion 42 of the support member 4. The left-right directions in FIGS. 7 to 9 are the transport directions of the transport belt 23.

The first portion 41 is a portion on the transport belt 23 side of the central portion (see the broken line C) of the support member 4 in the direction opposite to the support member 4 and the transport belt 23. The second portion 42 is a portion of the support member 4 other than the first portion 41, and is a portion on the opposite side of the transport belt 23 with the first portion 41 interposed therebetween.

The support member 4 shown in FIG. 7 is formed in a trapezoidal shape in a cross-sectional view, and the surface 41A of the first portion 41, which is the upper bottom portion in FIG. 7, is the second portion, which is the lower bottom portion in FIG. The structure is shorter than the surface 42A of 42.

Even in this way, the first portion 41 is more easily deformed than the second portion 42. That is, the side of the support member 4 facing the transport belt 23 can be easily deformed, and the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be easily ensured.

Further, as shown in FIG. 8, the material of the first portion 41 may be softer than the material of the second portion 42.

In the support member 4 shown in FIG. 8, the first portion 41 is a plastic member such as POM (polyacetal), and the second portion 42 is a metal member.

Even in this way, the first portion 41 is more easily deformed than the second portion 42. That is, the side of the support member 4 facing the transport belt 23 can be easily deformed, and the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be easily ensured.

Further, as in the configuration shown in FIG. 9, the hollow portion 41B may be formed in the first portion 41. In other words, the support member 4 has a hollow portion 41B located closer to the transport belt 23 than the central portion (see the broken line C) in the direction opposite to the support member 4 and the transport belt 23. The hollow portion 41B extends in the width direction and penetrates the support member 4.

Even in this way, the first portion 41 is more easily deformed than the second portion 42. That is, the side of the support member 4 facing the transport belt 23 can be easily deformed, and the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be easily ensured.

In particular, in this configuration, when the support member 4 is composed of a member that is not a member having high rigidity such as a metal member such as a resin member, the second portion 42 in which the hollow portion is not formed causes the support member 4. The rigidity of the entire support member 4 can be ensured.

Further, when the support member 4 is made of a member having high rigidity such as a metal member, the hollow portion 41B may be formed not only on the first portion 41 but also on the entire support member 4 in the facing direction, for example. ..

Further, in the above embodiment, both ends of the support member 4 are fixed by the side wall 6 and the screw member 7, but the present invention is not limited to this, and only one of both ends of the support member 4 is fixed. It may be fixedly supported by the side wall 6 and the screw member 7.

In such a support member 4, as shown in FIG. 10, the first end portion 4A (right end portion in FIG. 10) of the support member 4 in the width direction of the device is fixedly supported by the right side wall 6 and the screw member 7. ing. The first end portion 4A is arranged at a distance from the side wall 6 on the right side. Further, in the support member 4, the second end portion 4C (left end portion in FIG. 10) of the support member 4 in the width direction is fixedly supported by the side wall 6 on the left side of the device. Specifically, the second end portion 4C is fixed by fitting it into the side wall 6.

That is, the second end portion 4C is fixed to the left side wall 6 and the screw member 7 (members other than the pull portion), and the first end portion 4A is fixedly supported by the right side wall 6 and the screw member 7 (pull portion). The support member 4 is configured so as to be used.

Even with such a configuration, it is possible to reduce the bending deformation of the support member 4. Further, since the second end portion is fixedly supported without using the screw member, it is only necessary to provide the screw member 7 corresponding to the first end portion, so that the number of parts can be reduced.

Further, in the above embodiment, the pulling portion is composed of the side wall 6 and the screw member 7, but the present invention is not limited to this, and may be composed of, for example, an air cylinder.

Specifically, as shown in FIG. 11, the pulling portion 8 has a piston portion 81 fixed to an end portion of the support member 4, and a cylinder portion 82 that movably supports the piston portion 81 in the left-right direction. ..

The pulling portion 8 adjusts the air pressure in the cylinder portion 82 so that the support member 4 is pulled outward by the piston portion 81.

With this configuration, the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be ensured, and the gap between the transport belt 23 and the recording head 3 can be adjusted with high accuracy.

Further, as shown in FIG. 12, the pulling portion may include an urging member 83 that urges the end portion of the support member 4 toward the outside of the transport belt 23.

An extension member 43 is provided at the end 4A of the support member 4 shown in FIG. The extending member 43 has an extending portion 43A extending from the end portion 4A of the supporting member 4 and a pressing portion 43B provided at the tip end portion of the extending portion 43A.

The extending portion 43A is formed in a columnar shape, and is supported by a side wall 6 provided outside the end portion 4A of the supporting member 4 in the image forming apparatus 1. The pressing portion 43B has a diameter larger than that of the extending portion 43A, and is located outside the side wall 6.

The urging member 83 is a spring provided between the side wall 6 and the pressing portion 43B. The urging member 83 urges the pressing portion 43B to the outside with respect to the side wall 6. The side wall 6, the extending member 43, and the urging member 83 correspond to the "pulled portion" of the present invention.

As a result, the pressing portion 43B is urged outward, so that the support member 4 is pulled outward. As a result, the flatness of the transport belt 23 can be ensured, and the gap between the transport belt 23 and the recording head 3 can be adjusted with high accuracy. The extension member 43 may be a separate body from the support member 4.

Further, in the above embodiment, the support member 4 has a prismatic shape, but the present invention is not limited to this, and may be, for example, a cylindrical shape. Further, when the support member has a cylindrical shape, the support member may be fixed so as to be rotatable.

Further, in the above embodiment, the support member 4 has a quadrangular prism shape, but the present invention is not limited to this, and may be a triangular prism shape or another polygonal prism shape. However, from the viewpoint of stabilizing the flatness of the transport belt 23, it is preferable that the flat portion having a prismatic shape faces the transport belt 23.

Further, in the above embodiment, the transport belt 23 that conveys the recording medium P is exemplified as the belt member, but the present invention is not limited to this, and for example, an intermediate transfer belt or the like may be used.

Further, in the above embodiment, the recording head 3 having an inkjet head, that is, the configuration based on the inkjet method is exemplified as the image forming unit, but the present invention is not limited to this, and the configuration other than the configuration based on the inkjet method is not limited to this. May be used as an image forming unit.

Further, in the above embodiment, two support members 4 are provided, but the present invention is not limited to this, and one or more support members 4 may be provided.

Further, in the above embodiment, the support member 4 is provided so as to sandwich the image forming region, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, an image such as a position where the support member 4 is within the range of the image forming region, a range between the driving roller 21 and the edge of the image forming region, and a range between the driven roller 22 and the edge of the image forming region. As long as it is provided at a location corresponding to the formation region, it may be provided at any location.

In addition, the above-described embodiments are merely examples of embodiment of the present invention, and the technical scope of the present invention should not be construed in a limited manner by these. That is, the present invention can be implemented in various forms without departing from its gist or its main features.
