例えば、特許文献1には、塗布後に滑らかな仕上がりを実現する方法として、トリメチルペンタフェニルトリシロキサン、25℃で液状の油成分、非イオン性親水基を有するシリコーン、25℃で固形のワックスを含有する油性化粧料が記載されている。
また、塗布後に十分なツヤ、輝きをもち、そのツヤ感を持続させる方法として、特許文献2には、非揮発性炭化水素油、メチルフェニルシリコーン、水性成分、色材を含有する水中油型乳化乳化唇用化粧料が記載され、また、特許文献3には、不揮発性炭化水素化無極性油、不揮発性非フェニル化シリコーン、不揮発性フェニル化シリコーン油を含有する皮膚及び/又は唇をメイクアップするための化粧用組成物が記載されている。
一方、最近ではこのようにツヤと輝きの高い仕上がりの口紅の他、マット感のある仕上がりの口紅も好まれている。マット感がある仕上がりの口紅を得るために、例えば、顔料を含む粉体の配合量を増やしたり、揮発油を多量に配合することが行われている。
