これは、図5、図6に示すように従来の耳標の場合、軸112周りの表示部111aが小さいため、耳Eの穴EHを抜けようとして軸112と軸112周りの表示部111aが平行に近づくと表示部111aの大きさが小さい場合、その先端部分が耳Eの穴EHに入り込む現象が生じる。この現象は、図6の矢印方向の外力が作用した場合軸112周りの表示部111aはもとより、ほかの表示部111まで耳の穴に引きずり込まれることを意味しているので、この実施例では、前述したように先ず、軸12周りの表示部11aを動物の耳Eの穴EHを潜り抜けられない大きさにして、表示部11aが耳Eの穴EHに引きずり込まれないようにした上で更に表示部11aの表面に穴EHを通り抜けることができないボリュームを付加した膨出部15aをリング状に設けて軸12周りの表示部11aの曲げ強度を大幅に向上させて表示部11aが耳の穴に引きずり込まれようとする作用に抵抗するようにしている。このように膨出部15aをリング状にすることにより、耳標ETの軽量化にも寄与し、動物のストレスを解消する効果もある。
なお、膨出部15aは、断面をなだらかな山形に形成している。その理由は、動物の飼育環境は一般的に飼料等の影響で埃が多くまた、飼育動物の糞尿が飛び散る等余りよろしくない。そこで、表示部11や表示部11aに異物が付着しにくい形状にして、表示機能を損なわないようにすること及び、耳標装着時には耳Eに傷がつくので、この傷が治癒するまでは少なくとも表示部11aの周辺を清潔に保つための処置である。加えて、膨出部15aが柵等に引っ掛かることを防止する効果もある。

次に、雄耳標取付部T1の雄耳標支えピンT3に雄耳標1のピン挿入孔14を挿し込む。
この雄耳標支えピンT3は、動物用耳標ETが、前述したように軟質樹脂であるポリウレタンを主体として形成されているため、装着時には雄耳標1の軸12に座屈荷重が作用することからこの軸12を座屈荷重から保護して確実な装着を行うために必要不可欠の部品である。
装着器Tに上述したようにセットした雄耳標1と雌耳標2は、雄耳標1の軸12先端に位置する矢尻部13により、動物の耳Eに穿孔しながら耳Eを貫通して雌耳標2の嵌め込み穴22内に矢尻部13を縮径させながら入り込み、やがて抜け出たところで矢尻部13が拡径して抜け止め部23により係止される。
装着器Tの雄耳標取付部T1が図2の上方に離れるとピン挿入孔14から雄耳標支えピンT3が抜け、続いて装着器Tを図2の右方向に抜くと雌耳標2は雌耳標取付部T2から抜けて動物用耳標ETの耳Eへの装着が完了する。

換言すれば、図3に示すように、雌耳標2に矢印方向の外的負荷が加わっても、膨出部15aの存在により表示部11aの剛性が増す結果、耳Eの穴EHに表示部11aが入り込めないので軸12が柔らかくても何ら問題がないということになる。加えて、軸12周りの表示部11aを動物の耳Eの穴EHを潜り抜けられない大きさにしたので、更に軸12が曲がりやすくても軸12周りの表示部11aが耳Eの穴EHを覗くことすらできない状態を確実にすることができる。

必要情報を表示できる大きさの札形の表示部の一部から、この表示部に交差する方向に中空状の有底孔を有する軸を延設し、この軸の延設端に動物の耳に穿孔しながら挿し込むための尖頭状の矢尻部を設けた雄耳標と,前記雄耳標の前記軸を離脱不能に係止する雌耳標とを、前記有底孔に差し込むピンを備えた装着器を用いて前記耳に装着する、軟質樹脂を主体として形成した動物用耳標であって,
前記雄耳標の前記表示部や前記軸がそれらの材質の影響と前記有底孔の存在で曲がりやすくなっていても、前記装着後の前記雌耳標が前記耳から離れる方向に外的負荷が加わった時に前記雄耳標が前記穿孔部分から前記表示部が容易に抜けず、加えて、前記離脱不能状態の前記雄耳標と前記雌耳標のうち前記雄耳標を、前記穿孔部分と同等の別体動物の耳の穿孔部分に入れようとしても、前記表示部が潜り抜けることができない程の膨出部を、前記表示部に設けたことを特徴とする動物用耳標。
