Abstract
Description
a)複数の磁気共鳴映像法被験者のそれぞれについて、当該被験者の最適シーケンスと呼ばれるパルスシーケンスを決定するステップ。このシーケンスは、当該被験者に関するパルスシーケンスのシミュレーションにより得られる核磁化フリップ角の空間分布と目標分布との間の差を表す費用またはメリット関数を最適化する。
b)各被験者について、すべての被験者に関する最適シーケンスのシミュレーションにより得られる前記または別の費用またはメリット関数の値を計算する。
c)前記値またはその関数を測定基準として用いるクラスタ化アルゴリズムを使用して前記被験者を複数のクラスタに集約する。
d)各クラスタについて、当該クラスタの最適シーケンスと呼ばれるパルスシーケンスを決定する。このシーケンスは、当該クラスタに属する被験者の核磁化フリップ角の空間分布と目標分布との間の平均差を表す費用またはメリット関数を最適化する。
− パルスシーケンスのデータベースを提供するステップ。その各パルスシーケンスは少なくとも1つの磁場傾斜波形および一連の無線周波数パルスを含み、前記一連のパルスの各パルスは複数の設計パラメータにより規定され、かつ、磁気共鳴映像法装置のそれぞれの伝送チャネルに関係付けられる。
− 当該被験者を特徴付ける一連の特徴を入力として受け取るステップ。この特徴は少なくとも当該被験者の形態的特徴を含む。
− コンピュータ実施分類子アルゴリズムを使用して、当該被験者を前記一連の特徴に基づいてデータベースの1つのパルスシーケンスに関係付けるステップ。および
− 前記パルスシーケンスを使用して磁気共鳴映像法を実行するステップ。
− 少なくとも1つの無線周波伝送チャネル
− 一連の傾斜コイル
− パルスシーケンスのデータベースを格納する記憶装置。その各パルスシーケンスは少なくとも1つの磁場傾斜波形および一連の無線周波パルスを含み、前記一連のパルスの各パルスは複数の設計パラメータにより規定され、かつ、磁気共鳴映像法装置のそれぞれの伝送チャネルに関係付けられる。および
− 以下のステップを行うようにプログラムされたコンピュータ:
− 磁気共鳴映像法被験者の一連の特徴(少なくとも当該被験者の形態的特徴を含む)を入力として受け取るステップ
− 分類子アルゴリズムを使用して当該被験者を前記一連の特徴に基づいて前記データベースの1つのパルスシーケンスに関係付けるステップ、および
− 前記パルスシーケンスを使用して無線周波伝送チャネルおよび傾斜コイルを駆動することにより磁気共鳴映像法を実行するステップ。

目標はB1非不均一性に対して強い非選択的短励起パルスを設計することであるため、kT点法を採用し、かつ、その数学的形式を使用した。[6]参照。
最も効果的なkT点パルス設計は、RF複素係数、k空間位置および各kT点サブパルスの継続時間を同時に最適化することにより関心領域におけるフリップ角(FA)分布を均一化することからなる。NCh個の伝送チャネルを備えるpTxシステムにおいてNkT個のサブパルスを用いることとし、それぞれ、すべてのサブパルスRF複素係数、3次元位置、および継続時間を表すベクトルx、kおよびtを使用すると、最適化問題は次式により表すことができる:
上述したように、ユニバーサルパルス設計は、Ns人の被験者のサンプルに基づいて単一の被験者のみではなく全母集団にとっての均一励起を追求する。ここでは、異常値を避けつつ全母集団における全体的FA不均一性を低減するために、各被験者について得た目標正規化二乗平均平方根FA誤差(NRMSE)の平均プラス標準偏差を最小化すべき費用関数として選択した。

本発明の設計方法は2つの段階に分けることができる。第1に、被験者のNc個のクラスタをNs,0人の被験者のデータベースから作成し、そして1つの疑似ユニバーサルパルスを各クラスタについて設計する。続いて最も適切なパルスを被験者に割り当てるように、一連の単純な特徴を条件として分類子をNtrain個の例について訓練する。
データベースクラスタ化を行うために、Ns,0人の被験者のそれぞれの特注kT点パルスを式(4)に従って設計し、次に次のマトリクスを形成した:

このプロセスの第2段階において、機械学習アルゴリズムをNtrain人の標識付き被験者について訓練する。良好な分類子性能を得るため、多数の訓練被験者が望ましい。しかし、上述したクラスタ化ステップは非常に長い時間を要する。それは(Ns,0)2回のパルスシミュレーションを必要とするからである。したがって、前述したように、訓練集合を拡大するために、Ns,1人の追加被験者を取得する(Ntrain=Ns,0+Ns,1)。
被験者およびスキャナ
クラスタ化集合S0のNS,0=50人の連続被験者のB1+マップを使用した。分類子を訓練するためにNS,1=30人の追加被験者を使用し、また、試験のためにさらにNtest=53人を使用して、合計133人の患者を取り扱った(男性69人、女性64人、年齢22〜89歳、身長1.45〜1.91m、体重45〜140kg、BMI:17.6〜43.7kg・m−2)。この調査は、Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Henri Mondorの施設内治験審査委員会により承認された。
B1 +マップは、製造業者自動調整手順、約30秒間行われる自由呼吸励起準備完了ターボFLASHシーケンスにより測定した。このマップは、患者固有静的RFシミングのために使用されるマップと同じものである。
9kT点特注パルスは、[18]において行われたように、SARおよびハードウェアの制約の下で各被験者について設計された:このパルスをDCEーMRIで使用することを目標として、6msのTRのときにαT=11°のFAを目指し、かつ1800μsのパルス継続時間限度を設定した。局部SAR予測については、スキャナにより提供される仮想観測点(VOP)を使用した。
クラスタ化およびパルス設計は、被験者1〜NS,0=50に基づいて行った。
図5に示すように、10の特徴を分類のために使用した。これらのすべては、ローカライザのデータから抽出した。ローカライザは、プロコトルの先頭に置かれる必須シーケンスであり、その後の取得の視野(FOV)を設定するために使用される。肝臓撮像のために局部的に使用されるローカライザシーケンスは、すべて1回の呼吸停止中(TA=17s)に取得される面内分解能0.8mm、厚さ7.0mmの5個の軸(TRA)スライス、7個のコロナ(COR)スライスおよび11個の準矢状(SAG)T1重み付けスライスからなる。表1は、この調査の図に示した被験者に対応する特徴および母集団の概要を示す。
試験集合は、被験者81〜133(Ntest=53)により形成した。各被験者について、6種類の技術を比較した:
− pTF:TrueForm、スキャナデフォルト楕円分極パルス
− pTSS:製造業者の患者特注静的RFシミング(係数は、スキャナにより被験者のB1 +マップに基づいて自動的に計算されるが、最高電圧はTrueFormの最高電圧以下に抑制される)
− pOTSS:最適静的RFシミング(オフライン計算)
− pTKT:患者特注kT点動的RFシミング(オフライン計算)
− pUKT:ユニバーサルkT点
− pSP:本発明によるkT点パルス(以下、「SmartPulse」)
DCEーMRI受検中に試験集合から抽出した23人の被験者をエキスパートパルス設計者(R.T.−T.)の立ち会いの下でスキャンした。追加シーケンスを行ってpTF、pTSS、pTKTおよび予測されたpSPで取得された映像を比較した。診断DCEーMRIプロコトルへの妨害を回避するために、これらのシーケンスは、造影剤注入前および後の段階にのみ挿入された。

ローカライザシーケンスを取得した後、1人の被験者の特徴抽出およびSmartPulse予測の全プロセスに1〜2秒かかった。厳密に言えば、試験データに関するアルゴリズムの精度(すなわち最小NRMSEをもたらしたパルスを割り当てられた被験者の比率)は、74%であった。しかし、多くの場合、2つのクラスタパルスは同様に良好に働く、したがって、2番目に良いパルスも、分類子により選択された場合、一般的に受け容れられるNRMSEをもたらす。これは、図6aに示されている。この図では、予測された各SmartPulseの性能(それぞれ、クラスタパルス1、2および3の黒い円、四角、菱形)を2つの他のクラスタパルス(それぞれ、クラスタパルス1、2および3の白い円、四角、菱形)の性能と比較している。点線は25%のNRMSEを示している。最小NRMSEに加えて1.5%のNRMSE許容値を設定すると、81%の分類精度が得られる。
図6bは、SmartPulse(円)をTrueForm(四角)、デフォルト較正不要パルスと比較している。ユニバーサルパルスの性能も示されている(菱形)。分かりやすくするために、すべての選択肢ではなく、予測されたpSPのみ示されている。点線は、25%のNRMSEを示す。高いTrueForm NRMSEの被験者が受け容れられる値の方に移動している状況がよく分かる。
図8および9は、造影剤注入前および後期に取得した映像の例ならびに式[10]および[11]に従って計算されたCEマップおよびERマップを示す。
本発明の方法は、症例の87%において正しいパルス予測を提供した。NRMSEシミュレーション結果は、pSPの場合にpTF、pTSSおよびpUKTのいずれの場合よりも概して良好であり、かつ、pOTSSにより得られた結果に匹敵した。これは、完全な予測(pSP,best)を考慮するとなおさら真である。SmartPulseは、最も困難な被験者における不均一性の緩和に特に確実な効果を示した。さらに、これらの結果は、ローカライザシーケンスの実施完了のほぼ直後に得られる。
本発明についていくつかの特定実施形態を参照しつつ記述したが、いくつかの代替的実施形態も本発明の範囲に属する。たとえば:
− 目標FA分布は必ずしも一様ではない。
− クラスタ化は種々の測定基準に基づき得る。
− 典型的実施形態において、距離マトリクスはユークリッド距離を使用して計算したが、他の選択、たとえば、コサイン類似度も可能である。
− 分類子は、ローカライザ映像に基づくかまたは基づかない種々の特徴ベクトルを使用することができる。
− 典型的実施形態において、横断面に対応する1つのローカライザ映像のみ腹部寸法を測定するために使用した。上述したように、種々の方向のローカライザ映像を考慮することにより、より精細な分類が可能である。
− 上述したように、本発明は、kT点シーケンスの場合に限られない。それは、任意の重み付け(T1、T2、T2*、拡散、陽子密度…)および任意の体部位を対象とする選択的または非選択的励起シーケンスおよび撮像シーケンスに適用できる。
− 本発明は、励起のために単一のRFコイルを使用する場合(静的RFシミングが適用されない場合)にも適用できる。

Claims (19)
- 磁気共鳴映像法のパルスシーケンスのデータベース(DB)を構築するコンピュータ実施方法であって、各パルスシーケンスは少なくとも1つの磁場傾斜波形および一連の無線周波パルスを含み、前記一連のパルスのそれぞれは複数の設計パラメータにより規定され、かつ、磁気共鳴映像法装置のそれぞれの伝送チャネル(RFC1〜RFC8)に関連付けられ、
a)複数の磁気共鳴映像法被験者のそれぞれについて、前記被験者の最適シーケンスと呼ばれ、前記パルスシーケンスの前記被験者に関するシミュレーションにより得られる核磁化フリップ角の空間分布と目標分布との間の差を表す費用またはメリット関数を最適化するパルスシーケンスを決定するステップと、
b)各被験者について、前記費用またはメリット関数あるいは核磁化フリップ角の空間分布と目標分布との間の差を表す別の費用またはメリット関数の値であって、すべての前記被験者について前記最適シーケンスのシミュレーションを行うことにより得られる値を計算するステップと、
c)前記値またはその関数を測定基準として用いるクラスタ化アルゴリズムを使用して前記被験者を複数のクラスタに集約するステップと、
d)各クラスタについて、前記クラスタの最適シーケンスと呼ばれるパルスシーケンスであって、前記クラスタに属する前記被験者の核磁化フリップ角の前記空間分布と前記目標分布との間の平均差を表す費用またはメリット関数を最適化するパルスシーケンスを決定するステップと
を含む、コンピュータ実施方法。 - ステップa)は
a1)前記磁気共鳴映像法装置の各伝送チャネルにより前記被験者内に発生する無線周波磁場の不均一性マップを取得するサブステップと、
a2)前記無線周波シーケンスのシミュレーションにより得られる前記核磁化フリップ角の空間分布を1つまたは複数の前記不均一性マップを入力として使用することにより計算するサブステップと、
a3)前記費用またはメリット関数を最適化するために前記無線周波パルスおよび前記傾斜波形の前記設計パラメータを調整することにより前記被験者の前記最適パルスシーケンスを決定するサブステップと
を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - e)磁気共鳴映像法被験者を少なくとも被験者の形態的特徴に基づいて前記クラスタに関連付ける分類子アルゴリズムを訓練するステップ
をさらに含む、請求項1または2のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - f)前記先行ステップを実行するために使用されなかった磁気共鳴映像法被験者(IS)をクラスタに関連付けるために前記分類子を使用するステップと、
g)前記クラスタの前記最適シーケンスを使用して前記被験者の磁気共鳴映像法を行うステップと
をさらに含む、請求項3に記載の方法。 - 少なくとも前記被験者のローカライザ映像から前記形態的特徴を導き出すステップをさらに含む、請求項3または4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記分類子アルゴリズムは磁気共鳴映像法被験者を前記クラスタに関連付けるために
− 前記被験者の識別データと、
− 前記被験者の臨床データと、
− 前記磁気共鳴映像装置の動作パラメータと
から選択される少なくとも1つの特徴をさらに使用する、請求項3〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - 前記分類子アルゴリズムは磁気共鳴映像被験者を前記クラスタに関連付けるために前記伝送磁気共鳴映像装置の各伝送チャネルにより前記被験者内に発生された無線周波磁場の不均一性マップにより導き出される特徴を使用しない、請求項3〜6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- ステップa)〜d)は複数の被験者の第1集合(S0)を使用して実行され、かつ、ステップe)は前記第1集合に加えて、複数の被験者の第2集合(S1)を使用して実行され、前記被験者の核磁化フリップ角の前記空間分布と前記目標分布との間の平均差を表す前記費用またはメリット関数も計算される、請求項3〜6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- ステップd)において決定された各クラスタの前記最適パルスシーケンスについて前記特徴の関数として核磁化フリップ角の値の平均値を予測する回帰モデルを訓練するステップα)をさらに含む、請求項3〜8のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記クラスタ化アルゴリズムは階層的凝集クラスタ化アルゴリズムである、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記階層的凝集クラスタ化アルゴリズムは完全連結スキームを使用する、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記磁気共鳴映像法装置は複数の伝送チャネルを有する並列磁気共鳴映像法装置である、請求項1〜11のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 被験者(IS)の磁気共鳴映像法を行う方法であって、
− パルスシーケンスのデータベース(DB)を提供するステップであって、各パルスシーケンスは少なくとも磁場傾斜波形および一連の無線周波パルスを含み、前記一連の各パルスは複数の設計パラメータにより規定され、かつ、磁気共鳴映像法装置のそれぞれの伝送チャネル(RFC1〜RFC8)に関連付けられ、前記データベースの各パルスシーケンスは前記クラスタに属する前記被験者の核磁化フリップ角の前記空間分布と目標分布との間の平均差を表す費用またはメリット関数を最適化するステップと、
− 少なくとも前記被験者の形態的特徴を含む前記被験者を特徴付ける一連の特徴を入力として受け取るステップと、
− コンピュータ実施分類子アルゴリズムを使用して前記被験者を前記データベースの1つのパルスシーケンスに前記一連の特徴に基づいて関連付けるステップと、
− 前記パルスシーケンスを使用して磁気共鳴映像法を行うステップと
を含む、方法。 - 少なくとも前記被験者のローカライザ映像から前記形態的特徴を導き出すステップをさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。

− パルスシーケンスのデータベース(DB)を格納する記憶装置であって、各パルスシーケンスは少なくとも磁場傾斜波形および一連の無線周波パルスを含み、前記一連の各パルスは複数の設計パラメータにより規定され、かつ、前記磁気共鳴映像法装置のそれぞれの伝送チャネルに関連付けられ、前記データベースの各パルスシーケンスは前記クラスタに属する前記被験者の核磁化フリップ角の前記空間分布と目標分布との間の平均差を表す費用またはメリット関数を最適化する記憶装置と、
− コンピュータ(CP)であって、
− 少なくとも磁気共鳴映像法被験者(IS)の特徴を含む前記被験者を特徴付ける一連の特徴を入力として受け取り、
− 分類子アルゴリズムを使用して前記被験者を前記データベースの1つのパルスシーケンスに前記一連の特徴に基づいて関連付け、
− 前記パルスシーケンスを使用して磁気共鳴映像法を行うために1つまたは複数の前記無線周波伝送チャネルおよび前記傾斜コイルを駆動する
ようにプログラムされたコンピュータと
を含む、磁気共鳴映像法装置。 - 複数の無線周波伝送チャネルを含み、前記コンピュータは前記パルスシーケンスを使用して並列伝送磁気共鳴映像法を行うために前記無線周波伝送チャネルおよび前記傾斜コイルを駆動するようにプログラムされる、請求項17に記載の装置。
