Abstract
Description
本出願は、2015年3月12日に出願された同時継続中の米国仮特許出願第62/132,208号の優先権を主張するものである。
デバイス10は薄くて柔軟な熱可塑性材料からなる上側部材47と下側容器48とから構成されている。適切な材料としては、たとえばアクリル、ABS、ナイロン、PVA、PLA、ポリカーボネート、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリエチレン、ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリプロピレン、ポリ塩化ビニル、メチルセルロース、テフロン(登録商標)またはそれらの混合物が挙げられるが、それらに限定されるわけではない。これらの材料は、この化学組成からなる固体ペレットを用い、固体ペレットを加熱して液状溶解物に変えることによりフィルムに加工されるようになっていてもよい、液状溶解物は、押出成形によりシート、チューブ、フィラメントなどに形成され、冷却により固体状に戻され、その後、デバイス10に適した材料に加工される。
焦点は、上述のデバイスをロール状製品に用いて物体を濡らす潜在的な機能を付与することにある。このような潜在的な濡らし機能を有するデバイスにとって、ロール状乾燥トイレットペーパーは、可能性のある最大市場である。トイレットペーパー市場ほど大きくはないが、潜在的な濡らし機能を有するロール状ペーパータオルの将来性は大である。
深さが5mmで、直径が2cmのシールされた半球形状のチャンバを含んでいるポリエチレン(LDPE)フィルムを巻いた気泡緩衝材を複数の断片に切断した。図6Aを参照。図6Bに示されているように、カミソリナイフを用いて長さが1.75cmのスリットを上側の平坦な面に形成し、このデバイスを深さ約2mmになるまで空気を抜いた。次に、メチレングリコール液体をブラシで塗り、メチレングリコール液体を乾燥させて、上側の平坦な面に形成されたスリットをシールした。図6Cを参照。
可撓性材料からなる小袋、カプセル、容器または小胞は、ロール状製品に組み入れることができるように曲がって、形状が一致する必要がある。プラスチック材料は固有の弾力性により手の圧力下で破裂せずに伸張する傾向がある。プラスチック材料は薄ければ薄いほど手で破裂させることが困難になる。プラスチック材料は薄いとより容易に伸張する傾向がある。プラスチック材料の厚みは、MVTRや、本発明のデバイスの容器の形状に成形する際の成形性に影響を与える。実用的な厚みの範囲は約1〜約30ミクロンである。したがって、材料に薄いスポットを単に形成するだけでは、破裂を制御するように働かず、実用的でもなく、その上、プラスチック材料の破裂可能性を減らしてしまう(薄肉部はより容易に膨らむ(伸びる))。それに加えて、均一にシールされている小袋、カプセル、容器または小胞を手の圧力により破裂させると、強力な流れが破裂点から濡らそうとする領域から離れたところに向けて飛び散ってしまう傾向がある。容器の破裂圧力を調整することも困難となる。米国特許出願公開第2007/0071537号に記載のように継ぎ目を弱めるまたは弱いスポットを形成すると、漏洩を引き起こす場合もあれば、内容液が強力な流れとなって濡らそうとする領域から離れたところまで飛び散ろうとする傾向を増幅させてしまう場合もある。また、弱いスポットはMVTRに対して悪い影響を与える場合もある。再シールされたスリットは、指により押されるかまたは圧搾されることにより、開いて、液体物質を飛び散らせることなく本発明のデバイスから重力及び/または毛管作用により迅速に放出させることが可能となる。
需要を高め、成長を続けるのに十分に低いコストを維持するにあたって、高速連続生産は重要な要素である。本発明にとって、ロール状トイレットペーパー及びロール状ペーパータオルの製造は両方とも同じようなものである。本明細書では2つの製造方法が開示されている:(1)第一の方法は、液体物質を含むデバイス10を別個に調製し、それに続いて製造されるロール状ペーパー製品にデバイス10を組み入れることを必要とし、(2) 第二の方法は、デバイス10の製造とロール状ペーパー製品の製造とが並列して行われることを必要とする。
印刷し、乾燥し(幅出乾燥機)、切り込みを入れ、成形し、冷凍物質で充填し、上側部材と下側部材とを合わせてシールすることによりデバイスを連続して形成するプロセスにより、高速かつ低コストの製造及び低コスト材料を提供することができる。それに加えて、このプロセスにより、必要に応じてロール内でデバイスを配列することが可能となる(たとえば、使用量が少ない場合、9枚の乾燥シート当たり1枚の潜在的な濡らし機能を有するシート、使用量が中間の量である場合、7枚の乾燥シート当たり1枚の潜在的な濡らし機能を有するシート、または使用量が多い場合、5枚の乾燥シート当たり1枚の潜在的な濡らし機能を有するシート)。平坦に巻き取るために、デバイスは幅方向に沿ってずらして印刷するようにしてもよい。デバイスは、さまざまな量の物質を保持するようにし、手で容易に開けることができるように手で開ける力の調整を行うようにしてもよいし、または、消費者ニーズに合わせて乾燥状態で洗浄を行うために上述のシートを濡らさないままにしておいてもよい。デバイスを含んでいるシートは、さらなる洗浄のためにためておいてもよいし、または、乾燥シートとして用いられてもよい。必要に応じて連続製造の順序を変更することもできる。
図11A〜図11Fを参照しながら瞬間冷凍器320が詳細に説明されている。細長くて柔軟な(凹形状または凸形状の)複数のカップ418を有する板材が金網状引込みベルト419の幅方向に取り付けられているかまたは配置されている。金網状引込みベルト419は被駆動ローラ314、315に巻き付けられている。金網状引込みベルトの速度は下側のペーパー層319の移動速度と一致するように同期されている。一列に並んだカップ418がローラ315の上側の真ん中の位置にくると、一列に並んだすべてのカップ418は、液体物質がその凝固点のすぐ上の温度にまで過冷却された容器(図示せず)からポンプで注入バー421の中に供給されている液体物質で充填される。注入バー421は金網状引込みベルト419の幅方向に沿って延在している。金網状引込みベルトの幅は、下側を移動するペーパー層319の幅と一致する。
Claims (25)
- 手で濡らすペーパー製品であって、
上側ペーパー層と、
下側ペーパー層と、
前記上側ペーパー層と前記下側ペーパー層との間に配置される濡らし機能を有するデバイスとを備えており、
前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが、液状印刷物質を原料として形成され、固体へ硬化され、側面とフランジとを有する容器へと成形される下側部材と、液状印刷物質を原料として形成され、固体へと硬化され、シールされた開口スリットを有するカバーへと成形される上側部材とから構成され、
前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが液体物質で充填されるように構成されてなる、手で濡らすペーパー製品。 - 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが前記上側ペーパー層及び前記下側ペーパー層に対して平行な方向の2つの長さ寸法を有し、これら2つの長さ寸法を前記上側ペーパー層及び前記下側ペーパー層に対して直角な方向の他の長さの寸法よりも大きくすることにより、膨れを最小限に抑え、与えられたロールまたはパッケージの中により多くの数のシートを収容することを可能とするように構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが、ローラに巻き付けられる時に生じるペーパーの直径の変化に一致するように柔軟である、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記シールされた開口スリットが、ユーザの手の力で破断するように構成された脆弱な接着剤でシールされてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記シールされた開口スリットが、ユーザの手の2つの指を用いて圧力を加えることにより開くように構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記シールされた開口スリットを開くのに必要な圧力が、前記開口スリットの幅及び長さを変えることにより、また、前記開口スリットをシールするのに用いられる脆弱な接着剤の量、タイプ及び塗布方法を変えることにより調節されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが前記液体物質を所定の体積分保持するサイズに形成され、前記液体物質の前記所定の体積が、4インチ×4インチトイレットペーパーを一枚分または10.5インチx 11インチペーパータオルを一枚分濡らすのに必要な十分な量である0.5ml〜1mlの範囲にある、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが、前記液体物質の放出のために開かれると、平坦になり、前記上側ペーパー層と前記下側ペーパー層との間の位置を維持し、一体化構造を維持することにより、ごみ、汚染またはヒト組織に対する刺激をもたらす恐れのある断片化を防止するように構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスが、濡れ領域に強度を与える物理的サイズを有し、濡れ材料の解繊及び毛玉の形成を削減し、前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスを構成する濡れ材料の指による突き抜けを防止するように構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記上側ペーパー層と前記下側ペーパー層とから構成される重ね合わせペーパーが形成されている間、液体の形態または冷凍の形態でありうる前記液体物質が前記容器に充填されるように構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 前記容器が、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリエチレンオキシド及びメチルセルロースからなる群から選択される材料から形成されており、使用後、前記材料が廃棄され、水と接触すると溶解するように構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 手で濡らすロール状ペーパーを提供するために、手で濡らすペーパー製品がロール状乾燥トイレットペーパー用及びロール状乾燥ペーパータオル用のディスペンサで使用可能に構成されてなる、請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品。
- 請求項1に記載の手で濡らすペーパー製品を製造する方法であって、
前記上側ペーパー層の連続するウェブを提供することと、
前記下側ペーパー層の連続するウェブを提供することと、
前記上側ペーパー層の連続するウェブと前記下側ペーパー層の連続するウェブとの間に濡らし機能を有するデバイスを断続的に形成することと、
前記上側ペーパー層の連続するウェブと前記下側ペーパー層の連続するウェブとを接合することと
を含む、方法。 - 前記上側ペーパー層の連続するウェブと前記下側ペーパー層の連続するウェブとの間に濡らし機能を有するデバイスを断続的に形成することが、
前記上側ペーパー層に付着するように前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスの前記上側部材の形状で液体プラスチゾルを選択的に塗布することと、
前記下側ペーパー層の上側に付着するように前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスの前記下側部材の形状で液体プラスチゾルを選択的に塗布することと、
前記液体物質を前記下側部材の中に充填することとを含む、請求項13に記載の方法。 - 前記上側部材及び前記下側部材の形状で付着した前記液体プラスチゾルを熱硬化させて何時でもさらなる処理が可能な固状プラスチック状態にすることをさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記上側ペーパー層の前記液体プラスチゾルに押印加工を加え、該押印加工時に空隙を残すことによりまたは前記上側部材を回転式切込装置を用いて切断することにより、容器の上部にスリットが形成される、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記スリットの形成後、該スリットに脆弱な接着剤を塗布することにより該スリットをシールすることをさらに含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記上側部材にリング形状の粘着剤を印刷することをさらに含み、前記リング形状の粘着材の幅が実質的に前記下側部材の前記フランジの幅である、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスの前記下側部材を浅い容器に成形することをさらに含む、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記濡らし機能を有するデバイスを形成するために前記上側部材と前記液体物質が充填されている前記下側部材とを接合することをさらに含む、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記液体物質が室温で融けるように構成され、前記下側部材の中に充填される前に前記液体物質が冷凍される、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記液体プラスチゾルを選択的に塗布することが回転式スクリーン印刷により達成される、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記脆弱な接着剤が回転式グラビア印刷を用いて塗布される、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記リング形状の接着剤が回転式グラビア印刷を用いて印刷される、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記下側部材がエンボスローラ及びバッキングローラを用いたエンボス加工により浅い容器に成形される、請求項19に記載の方法。
