【解決手段】第1副画素領域、第2副画素領域及び第3副画素領域を含む下部基板と、下部基板上に配置された液晶層と、液晶層上に、下部基板と対向するように配置されたカラーフィルタ基板と、を含み、カラーフィルタ基板は、下部基板に対向する上部基板と、上部基板の下部基板に対向する面上に配置された電極パターンと、電極パターン上にあって、第1副画素領域、第2副画素領域及び第3副画素領域にそれぞれ対応するように配置された、第1量子ロッドを含む第1光変換部、第2量子ロッドを含む第2光変換部、及び第3光変換部と、を含む液晶表示装置である。

Claims (20)
- 第1副画素領域、第2副画素領域及び第3副画素領域を含む下部基板と、
前記下部基板上に配置された液晶層と、
前記液晶層上に、前記下部基板と対向するように配置されたカラーフィルタ基板と、を含み、
前記カラーフィルタ基板は、
前記下部基板に対向する上部基板と、
前記上部基板における前記下部基板に対向する面上に配置された電極パターンと、
前記電極パターン上にて、前記第1副画素領域、前記第2副画素領域及び第3副画素領域にそれぞれ対応するように配置された、第1量子ロッドを含む第1光変換部、第2量子ロッドを含む第2光変換部、及び第3光変換部と、を含む液晶表示装置。 - 前記カラーフィルタ基板は、
前記上部基板上に、前記電極パターンの少なくとも一部を覆うように配置された配向膜と、
前記電極パターン上における、前記第1光変換部と前記第2光変換部との間、及び前記第2光変換部と前記第3光変換層との間に配置された隔壁と、
前記第1光変換部、前記第2光変換部、前記第3光変換部及び前記隔壁を覆う平坦化層と、をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1量子ロッド及び前記第2量子ロッドは、短軸方向長及び/または長軸方向長が互いに異なり、前記第1量子ロッド及び前記第2量子ロッドの長軸は、所定方向に整列されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1光変換部、前記第2光変換部及び前記第3光変換部は、それぞれ、前記第1量子ロッド及び前記第2量子ロッドが整列されている方向と実質的に同一方向に整列されている液晶、並びに前記第1量子ロッド、前記第2量子ロッド及び前記液晶の整列状態を維持させる高分子化合物をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記下部基板における前記カラーフィルタ基板に対向する面とは反対側の面上に配置された偏光子をさらに含み、前記偏光子の偏光軸は、前記第1量子ロッド及び前記第2量子ロッドの整列方向と実質的に垂直であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素領域、前記第2副画素領域及び前記第3副画素領域は、それぞれ赤色光、緑色光及び青色光を放出する赤色副画素領域、緑色副画素領域及び青色副画素領域であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記下部基板における前記カラーフィルタ基板に対向する面とは反対側の面上に配置され、前記下部基板へと青色光を照射するバックライトユニットをさらに含み、
前記第3光変換部は、整列された異方性物質を含むことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記下部基板における前記カラーフィルタ基板に対向する面とは反対側の面上に配置され、前記下部基板へと紫外光を照射するバックライトユニットをさらに含み、
前記第3光変換部は、前記第1量子ロッド及び前記第2量子ロッドと、短軸及び/または長軸の方向長が異なる第3量子ロッドを含むことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記上部基板と前記電極パターンとの間にて、少なくとも前記第1光変換部及び前記第2光変換部に対応するように配置されたノッチフィルタをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記ノッチフィルタは、青色光を遮断し、前記第3光変換部に対応する領域には配置されないことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記ノッチフィルタは、紫外光を遮断し、前記第1光変換部、前記第2光変換部及び前記第3光変換部の上に配置されたことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記カラーフィルタ基板と前記液晶層との間に配置された共通電極をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜は、前記隔壁によって互いに分離され、前記第1副画素領域、前記第2副画素領域及び前記第3副画素領域にそれぞれ配置された、複数のパターンを含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- カラーフィルタ基板を形成する段階と、
前記カラーフィルタ基板に対向するように下部基板を配置した後、前記下部基板と前記カラーフィルタ基板を貼り合わせる段階と、
前記下部基板と前記カラーフィルタ基板との間に液晶を注入することによって液晶層を形成する段階と、を含み、
前記カラーフィルタ基板を形成する段階は、
第1副画素領域、第2副画素領域及び第3副画素領域を含む上部基板上に電極パターンを形成する段階と、
前記電極パターン上の第1副画素領域、前記第2副画素領域及び前記第3副画素領域に、それぞれ第1量子ロッド及び液晶を含む第1物質、第2量子ロッド及び前記液晶を含む第2物質、並びに前記液晶を含む第3物質を配置または形成する段階と、
前記電極パターンに電圧を印加することによって、前記液晶、前記第1量子ロッド及び前記第2量子ロッドの長軸を所定方向に整列させることによって、第1光変換部、第2光変換部及び第3光変換部を形成する段階と、を含む液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記電極パターンを形成する段階の後に、
前記上部基板上に、前記電極パターンの少なくとも一部を覆う配向膜、並びに前記第1副画素領域、前記第2副画素領域及び前記第3副画素領域の輪郭を定める隔壁を形成する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記配向膜を形成する段階は、
前記上部基板上に、前記電極パターンを覆うように、前記配向膜を構成する物質をコーティングする段階と、
前記配向膜を構成する物質を整列させることによって、前記配向膜を形成する段階と、を含むことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第1物質、第2物質及び第3物質を配置または形成する段階は、
前記第1量子ロッド、前記液晶及び単量体を含む前記第1物質;前記第2量子ロッド、前記液晶及び前記単量体を含む前記第2物質;並びに前記液晶及び前記単量体を含む前記第3物質;を配置または形成する段階を含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第1光変換部、前記第2光変換部及び前記第3光変換部を形成する段階は、
前記電極パターンに電圧を印加して、前記第1量子ロッド、前記第2量子ロッド及び前記液晶を整列する段階と、
前記第1物質、前記第2物質及び前記第3物質に光を照射すること、及び熱を加えることの少なくとも一方により、前記単量体を、前記第1量子ロッド、前記第2量子ロッド及び前記液晶の整列状態を維持させる高分子化合物で重合させる段階と、を含むことを特徴とする請求項17に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第3物質は、異方性物質をさらに含み、
前記第3光変換部を形成する段階は、前記電極パターンに電圧を印加することによって、前記異方性物質を所定方向に整列する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記電極パターンを形成する段階前に、前記上部基板上の少なくとも前記第1副画素領域及び前記第2副画素領域に、ノッチフィルタを形成する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
