第一実施形態のボールねじ１０は、図２に示すように、循環溝５の外縁部（ナット２の内周面との境界部）にダレなどの丸みを有さない。よって、循環溝５の掬い上げ部におけるボールねじ１０の断面図は図３に示すようになる。
図３の断面図は、ねじ軸１の螺旋溝１２の溝直角断面に対応する。ねじ軸１の螺旋溝１２はゴシックアーク形状である。ねじ軸１の外周面１１と螺旋溝１２との間に面取り部１３が形成されている。
第一実施形態のボールねじ１０は、下記の(1) 式および(2) 式を満たしている。
