Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a printing apparatus and a printing method.
2. Description of the Related Art Printing apparatuses that perform printing on a sheet-like recording medium by an inkjet method are known (see, for example,
For example,
However, in such an arrangement, when the head reciprocates on the recording medium, the order in which the ink colors overlap in the forward path and the backward path is reversed, and there is a hue between the color obtained in the forward path and the color obtained in the backward path. It looks different. As a result, the image on the recording medium is inferior in image quality. Further, since the nozzle row is one row for each color, it has not been possible to sufficiently satisfy the demand for obtaining an image with further improved resolution.
An object of the present invention is to provide a printing apparatus and a printing method excellent in improving the image quality and resolution of an image obtained by printing.
Such an object is achieved by the present invention described below.
The printing apparatus of the present invention includes a transport unit that transports a recording medium,
A printing unit that performs printing by applying ink droplets on the recording medium conveyed by the conveyance unit;
A moving unit that moves the printing unit in a direction that intersects the conveyance direction of the recording medium during the printing,
When the moving direction of the printing unit is the X direction and the transport direction of the recording medium is the Y direction,
The printing unit ejects ink droplets of a first color and has a first nozzle row having a plurality of first nozzles arranged along the Y direction;
A plurality of second nozzles arranged in the X direction with respect to the first nozzle row, ejecting ink droplets of a second color different from the first color, and arranged along the Y direction. A second nozzle row having
A pair of the first nozzle rows are provided symmetrically with respect to the center line along the Y direction of the printing unit, and each of the first nozzle rows of the first nozzle row is one of the first nozzle rows. The nozzles and the first nozzles of the other first nozzle row are arranged at the same position in the Y direction,
A pair of the second nozzle rows are provided symmetrically with respect to the center line, and the second nozzle row of one second nozzle row and the second nozzle row of the other of the pair of second nozzle rows. The second nozzles are arranged at the same position in the Y direction.
Accordingly, the ink ejected from the pair of first nozzle rows can be landed as densely as possible in the X direction on the recording medium, and the ink ejected from the pair of second nozzle rows can also be recorded. It is possible to land as close as possible in the X direction on the medium. Such ink landing contributes to the improvement of the resolution of an image obtained by printing.
Further, when the printing unit reciprocates on the recording medium in the X direction, the order in which the ink colors overlap can be the same in both the forward path and the backward path. As a result, the color obtained in the forward pass and the color obtained in the return pass look the same, so that the image quality of the image on the recording medium can be improved.
In the printing apparatus according to the aspect of the invention, the printing unit may individually include the one first nozzle row, the other first nozzle row, the one second nozzle row, and the other second nozzle row. It is preferable that the head is unitized.
As a result, for example, when one ink ejection head has reached the end of its life, it is possible to continue to use the printing apparatus as long as only that ink ejection head is replaced, and the replacement work is facilitated.
In the printing apparatus according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that each of the ink discharge heads includes two nozzle rows included in the ink discharge head, and the two nozzle rows are adjacent to each other in the X direction.
Thereby, the ink that lands on the recording medium can be arranged more densely.
In the printing apparatus according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the two nozzle rows are arranged so as to be shifted in the Y direction.
Thereby, the ink that lands on the recording medium can be arranged more densely.
In the printing apparatus according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the transport unit includes a belt having adhesiveness with respect to the recording medium.
Thus, the recording medium can be adhesively fixed when printing on the recording medium, and thus the printing can be performed stably.
In the printing apparatus according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the moving unit is configured to move the printing unit so that the X direction is orthogonal to the Y direction.
This facilitates the control of the ejection timing of the ink droplets on the recording medium.
The printing method of the present invention is characterized in that printing is performed on a recording medium using the printing apparatus of the present invention.
Hereinafter, a printing apparatus and a printing method according to the present invention will be described in detail based on preferred embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 2 is a block diagram of a main part of the printing apparatus shown in FIG. FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating an arrangement state of nozzles of a printing unit included in the printing apparatus illustrated in FIG. 1. FIG. 4 is a diagram sequentially illustrating the landing state of ink on the recording medium when the printing apparatus shown in FIG. 1 is actually used for drawing. 5 and 6 are diagrams showing the positional relationship between nozzles that eject the same color ink. In the following, for convenience of explanation, the depth direction in FIG. 1 is referred to as “x direction”, the left and right direction as “y direction”, and the up and down direction as “z direction”. The coordinate axes in FIGS. 3 to 6 correspond to the coordinate axes in FIG.
The
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
In the present embodiment, the direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction for conveying the workpiece W is the x direction, the direction parallel to the conveyance direction is the y direction, and the direction orthogonal to the x direction and the y direction is the z direction.
The
The feeding device 3 is disposed upstream of the
The work W can be made of a thin film having ink absorbability and a thin film having ink non-absorbability. In the case of the former, for example, special paper for inkjet recording such as plain paper, high-quality paper, and glossy paper, and other woven fabrics can be used. In the latter case, for example, a plastic film that is not surface-treated for inkjet printing (that is, an ink absorbing layer is not formed), and a plastic film coated with a plastic on a substrate such as paper or the like Are bonded. The plastic is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, polystyrene, polyurethane, polyethylene, and polypropylene.
The winding device 4 is disposed on the downstream side in the feed direction (y direction) of the workpiece W from the
The support device 5 is disposed between the feeding device 3 and the winding device 4. The support device 5 includes a
The
The
Similarly to the
The
The
The ink contains a dye or pigment as a colorant in water as a solvent, and in this embodiment, four colors of black (K), cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y) are used. Is used.
As shown in FIG. 3, the
In the
The moving
The drying
A
The
図2に示すように、制御部15は、CPU(Central Processing Unit)151と、記憶部152とを有している。
The
The
記憶部152は、例えば不揮発性半導体メモリーの一種であるEEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory)等を有し、各種プログラム等を記憶することができる。
The
For example, an external
As described above, in the present embodiment, the
