Description

The present invention relates to a card edge connector.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a card edge connector having a first connector provided with a circuit board and a second connector provided with terminal fittings connected to the circuit board is known. An elastic contact portion that can contact the connection portion of the circuit board is provided at the front portion of the terminal fitting provided in the second connector. Of the second connector, a second housing that holds the terminal fitting is formed with a board housing portion that accommodates the connection portion of the circuit board when properly fitting with the first connector. The terminal fitting is held by the second housing such that the elastic contact portion faces the substrate housing portion.

In this type of card edge connector, it is known that the portion of the second housing in which the substrate housing portion is formed is formed separately from a material different from the other portions. For example, in the card edge connector described in Patent Document 1 below, the second housing has a terminal holding portion in which a board housing portion is formed and a housing main body portion formed separately. The terminal holding portion holds the front portion of the terminal fitting such that the elastic contact portion faces the substrate housing portion. In this way, the terminal holding portion can have a linear expansion coefficient comparable to that of the circuit board, and when the card edge connector becomes hot, the parallel pitch of the elastic contact portions of the terminal fitting and the circuit board It is possible to make it difficult for deviation to occur between the parallel pitches of the contact portions.

The terminal holding portion is assembled to the housing main body portion by the elastic locking piece engaging with the locking step portion formed on the housing main body portion. When fitting the first connector and the second connector, the circuit board of the first connector is inserted into the board housing portion of the second connector, the elastic member is brought into close contact with the rear surface of the first connector, and the rear side Install the cap. In the normal fitting state of both connectors, the elastic member is elastically deformed so as to be crushed in the front-rear direction, the front surface of the first housing is elastically pressed against the front surface of the terminal holding portion, and the relative displacement in the front-rear direction of both housings Is regulated.

However, when the card edge connector configured as described above receives vibration, the first connector and the second connector are relatively rattled, and the terminal holding portion vibrates together with the housing body. For this reason, the elastic contact portion of the terminal fitting held by the terminal holding portion and the circuit board may be relatively rattled, and the contact portions between the circuit board and the terminal fitting may repeatedly slide slightly. Therefore, it has been desired to further improve the connection reliability by suppressing the slight sliding of the contact portion between the circuit board and the terminal fitting.

The present invention has been completed based on the above situation, and a card edge connector capable of improving connection reliability by suppressing fine sliding of a contact portion between a circuit board and a terminal fitting. The purpose is to provide.

The card edge connector according to the present invention includes a first connector provided with a circuit board and a second connector provided with a terminal fitting connected to the circuit board, and the first connector of the terminal fitting. An elastic contact portion capable of contacting the connection portion of the circuit board is provided in a front portion in the fitting direction, and the second housing that holds the terminal fitting in the second connector includes the first housing. A board housing part for housing the connection part of the circuit board is formed during normal fitting with the connector, and the second housing has a front part of the terminal fitting so that the elastic contact part faces the board housing part. A terminal holding part for holding, and a housing body part that is formed separately from the terminal holding part and holds a rear portion of the terminal fitting, and the first connector and the second connector Regular fitting In the state, the front face in the fitting direction with the second connector of the first housing for holding the circuit board of the first connector, the contact with the said housing body.

According to the present invention, since the terminal holding part can be relatively displaced in the front-rear direction, the terminal holding part and the elastic contact part of the terminal fitting held by the terminal holding part follow the vibration of the circuit board. The connection reliability can be improved by suppressing the slight sliding of the contact portion with the terminal fitting.

The lance 45 is pushed by the terminal fitting 20 inserted into the rear terminal accommodating chamber 43 and retracted to the outside, and when the terminal fitting 20 is inserted into a proper position, the lance 45 is elastically restored to the inside to lock the terminal fitting 20. Lock to the part 24.

The hood part 42 is provided on the front side of the terminal accommodating part 41. The hood portion 42 has a cylindrical shape that is slightly larger than the terminal accommodating portion 41 and opens forward. The hood portion 42 is formed with a lock portion 51 on which the lock projection 12 of the first housing 10 can be locked. As shown in FIG. 2, a synthetic resin cap 55 is attached to the front end of the hood portion 42. The cap 55 is provided with a locking arm portion 57 that is locked to a locking recess 56 formed in the hood portion 42. An elastic member 58 made of a rubber material is disposed in close contact with the inner surface (rear surface) of the cap 55. When the cap 55 is assembled to the hood portion 42, the elastic member 58 is elastically crushed and deformed between the cap 55 and the first housing 10.

A wall (hereinafter referred to as a back wall 52) formed at the rear end portion of the hood portion 42 is connected to the front end portion of the terminal accommodating portion 41. The back wall 52 has a shape that protrudes radially outward from the outer wall 48 of the terminal accommodating portion 41. The back wall 52 is formed continuously around the entire circumference of the outer wall 48 of the terminal accommodating portion 41.

The front surface 53 of the back wall 52 is substantially perpendicular to the front-rear direction. The front surface 53 of the back wall 52 is positioned in front of the front surface 37 of the terminal holding unit 30. The front surface 37 of the terminal holding unit 30 is disposed at substantially the same position as the rear surface 54 of the back wall 52 in the front-rear direction.

When fitting the first connector F and the second connector S configured as described above, the first connector F is inserted into the hood portion 42 of the second connector S, and the connection portion 13 of the circuit board 11 is connected. It is inserted into the substrate housing part 31. Thereafter, the elastic member 58 is brought into close contact with the rear surface of the first housing 10, and the cap 55 is brought into contact with the elastic member 58 and assembled to the hood portion 42. Then, the elastic member 58 is elastically deformed so as to be crushed in the front-rear direction, and the lock protrusion 12 is engaged with the lock portion 51, so that both the connectors F and S are held in a properly fitted state.

In the normal fitting state of both connectors F and S, the elastic contact portion 23 of the upper terminal fitting 20 and the elastic contact portion 23 of the lower terminal fitting 20 are elastically abutted on the connection portion 13 of the circuit board 11, respectively. The circuit board 11 and the terminal fitting 20 are connected so as to be conductive. The front end surface of the circuit board 11 is in a state of being separated without contacting the contact portion 32.

Moreover, in the normal fitting state of both the connectors F and S, the front surface 14 of the first housing 10 abuts against the housing body 40 and is held elastically by the elastic restoring force of the elastic member 58. . Specifically, the front surface 14 of the first housing 10 is held by the front surface 53 of the back wall 52 of the hood portion 42 of the second housing H in a state of being elastically pressed over the entire circumference. By this elastic pressing action, the relative displacement in the front-rear direction of both housings 10, H is limited. Further, due to the friction force generated between the two housings 10 and H due to the elastic pressing, the relative displacement in the direction (vertical and horizontal directions) intersecting the fitting direction of the two housings 10 and H is also limited. The At this time, a displacement allowance space 38 is formed between the front surface 14 of the first housing 10 and the front surface 37 of the terminal holding portion 30 to allow the terminal holding portion 30 to be relatively displaced forward.

When the card edge connector in the normal fitting state is installed in a high vibration environment, the first connector F and the second connector S vibrate, and the circuit board 11 vibrates together with the first housing 10. The terminal holding part 30 is displaced following the circuit board 11 using the displacement allowable space 38, and the elastic contact part 23 of the terminal fitting 20 held by the terminal holding part 30 follows the vibration of the circuit board 11. Vibrate.

Next, operations and effects of the embodiment configured as described above will be described.
The card edge connector in the present embodiment includes a first connector F provided with a circuit board 11 and a second connector S provided with a terminal fitting 20 connected to the circuit board 11. An elastic contact portion 23 that can come into contact with the connection portion 13 of the circuit board 11 is provided at a front portion of the terminal fitting 20 in the fitting direction with the first connector F. Of the second connector S, the second housing H that holds the terminal fitting 20 is formed with a board accommodating portion 31 that accommodates the connection portion 13 of the circuit board 11 when properly engaged with the first connector F. The second housing H is formed separately from the terminal holding portion 30 and the terminal holding portion 30 so as to hold the front portion of the terminal fitting 20 so that the elastic contact portion 23 faces the board housing portion 31. And a housing main body 40 for holding a rear portion. In the normal fitting state between the first connector F and the second connector S, the front surface 14 of the first housing 10 that holds the circuit board 11 in the first connector F is in contact with the housing body 40.

According to this configuration, since the terminal holding part 30 can be relatively displaced in the front-rear direction, the terminal holding part 30 and the elastic contact part 23 of the terminal fitting 20 held by the terminal holding part 30 follow the vibration of the circuit board 11. Therefore, it is possible to improve the connection reliability by suppressing the slight sliding of the contact portion between the circuit board 11 and the terminal fitting 20.
