Abstract
Description
この発明は、無線端末装置とともに無線LAN(Local Area Network)を構成する無線中継装置に関する。 The present invention relates to a wireless relay device that forms a wireless local area network (LAN) together with a wireless terminal device.
IEEE 802.11 is known as a communication standard in a wireless LAN. This communication standard is roughly classified into one using a 2.4 GHz band communication radio wave (IEEE 802.11b or the like) and one using a 5 GHz band communication radio wave (IEEE 802.11a or the like). Each of the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band is further divided into a plurality of wireless communication channels. For example, in Japan, the 2.4 GHz band of IEEE 802.11b is divided into 14 wireless communication channels of 5 MHz each. A wireless relay device such as a wireless access point device that constitutes a wireless LAN together with a wireless terminal device supports either of these two frequency bands, and uses any of the wireless communication channels within that band in a fixed manner. It is common to communicate with a wireless terminal device. For this reason, when installing a new wireless relay device, conduct a survey (site survey) of the usage status around the location of each wireless communication channel in the band supported by the wireless relay device, It was necessary to select a radio communication channel with less interference.
However, since the usage status of communication radio waves changes from time to time, it may not be sufficient to perform a site survey at the time of installation of the wireless relay device. For example, if a radio interference source appears later, such as when a new wireless LAN is built adjacent to the wireless relay device after installation, or an interference source that operates only in a specific time zone already exists This is because there may be cases when the site survey does not happen. Therefore, various techniques for solving such problems have been proposed, and an example thereof is the technique disclosed in Patent Document 1.
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2004-133260 discloses a technique for causing an active wireless relay device to record the use status of wireless communication channels and the presence or absence of interference in the surrounding area. The wireless relay device disclosed in Patent Document 1 transmits a special beacon (monitoring beacon) that serves as a cue to start measurement at a certain timing during operation. In this monitoring beacon, a CFP parameter indicating that communication is suspended for a certain period is set. Each wireless terminal device accommodated in the wireless relay device stops the start of new communication (transmission of communication radio waves) for the period indicated by the CFP parameter, triggered by the reception of the monitoring beacon, and scans the radio waves of the surrounding BSS. Do. Each wireless terminal device returns the scan result to the wireless relay device after the elapse of the predetermined time after receiving the monitoring beacon (that is, after releasing the injunction). A wireless frame received by each wireless terminal device during a period in which communication is suspended is nothing but a frame transmitted from a neighboring wireless relay device. By recording the information transmitted from each wireless terminal device in the wireless relay device, it is possible to record the usage status of the wireless communication channel and the presence or absence of interference in the surrounding area.
However, with the technique disclosed in Patent Document 1, every time radio waves of surrounding BSS are scanned, communication of all wireless terminal devices accommodated in the wireless relay device is suspended, resulting in a decrease in throughput. In the technique disclosed in Patent Document 1, since CFP is used for monitoring purposes, CFP cannot be used for PCF access (access by polling from a wireless relay device), which is the original application. As described above, the technique disclosed in Patent Document 1 has a problem of reducing the convenience (accessibility) of the wireless LAN, such as a reduction in throughput and restrictions on the use of CFP.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and a first object of the present invention is to use the wireless communication channel during the operation of the wireless relay device without deteriorating the convenience of the wireless LAN. The second object is to improve the convenience of the wireless LAN by effectively using a plurality of wireless communication channels.
In order to solve the above-described problem, the present invention provides a selection unit that cyclically selects each of a plurality of radio communication channels, and a radio terminal apparatus via at least one of the radio communication channels selected by the selection unit. Communication control means for performing communication and performing at least one of communication via the channel and measurement of radio wave state of the channel for each of the wireless communication channels selected by the selection means A wireless relay device is provided. According to such a wireless relay device, for example, communication with the wireless terminal device is performed in at least one of the plurality of wireless communication channels, and the radio wave state in the wireless communication channel including (or excluding) the wireless communication channel. If the above measurement is performed, it is possible to measure the usage status of the wireless communication channel during operation of the wireless relay device. And, when one wireless communication channel is selected cyclically from a plurality of wireless communication channels, the throughput is greatly reduced by not continuously selecting wireless communication channels that only measure the radio wave condition. It can be avoided. The throughput can also be increased by reducing the number of channels that only measure the radio wave condition to less than the number of channels for communication, or by suppressing the frequency of selection of radio communication channels that only measure the radio wave condition per unit time. Decreasing can be avoided. Further, if communication with a wireless terminal device is performed through a plurality of wireless communication channels, the convenience of the wireless LAN can be improved by effectively using the plurality of wireless communication channels.
Here, the plurality of wireless communication channels may belong to one frequency band, or may belong to a plurality of frequency bands. When each of the plurality of wireless communication channels belongs to any one of a plurality of different frequency bands, those belonging to a predetermined frequency band among the plurality of wireless communication channels are You may make it make a communication control means perform only measurement of an electromagnetic wave state. As described above, there are two types of wireless LAN communication standards at present, one using a 2.4 GHz band communication radio wave and the other using a 5 GHz band communication radio wave. When each of the plurality of different frequency bands is the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band, for example, each 2.4 GHz band wireless communication channel is used for communication with the wireless terminal device, and 5 GHz band wireless communication is performed. It is only necessary to measure the usage status for the channel (or vice versa).
Patent Document 2 discloses a wireless relay device that supports both the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band. The wireless relay device disclosed in Patent Document 2 has a reception unit and a transmission unit corresponding to each communication standard, and the reception unit is always operated according to each communication standard, and the transmission unit is required as necessary. Only one of them. Thereby, reduction of power consumption is realized. As described above, the wireless relay device disclosed in Patent Document 2 reduces power consumption by operating only one of the transmission units corresponding to the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band as necessary. The purpose is to measure the usage status of the wireless communication channel during the operation of the wireless relay device without reducing the convenience of the wireless LAN, and to effectively use multiple wireless communication channels Thus, the present invention is different from the present invention for the purpose of improving the convenience of the wireless LAN.
In another preferable aspect, the selection unit includes a channel load factor measurement unit that measures a channel load factor of a radio communication channel used for communication with a radio terminal device among the plurality of radio communication channels. For each of the wireless communication channels used for communication with the wireless terminal device, the period during which the wireless communication channel is selected is adjusted according to the channel load factor measured by the channel load factor measuring means. It is characterized by that. For example, it is possible to use each wireless communication channel more efficiently by shortening the selection period of the wireless communication channel with a light channel load factor and conversely increasing the selection period of the wireless communication channel with a heavy channel load factor. become.
Further, as another preferred aspect, the presence or absence of interference in a wireless communication channel used for communication with a wireless terminal device among the plurality of wireless communication channels is determined, and when it is determined that there is interference, An aspect in which monitor result reflecting means for changing any one of a wireless communication channel, a communication speed, and transmission power used for communication with the wireless terminal device can be considered. According to such an aspect, when interference is detected in a wireless communication channel used for communication with a wireless terminal device, communication conditions such as switching of a communication target channel and adjustment of communication parameters (communication speed and transmission power) Actions to improve are automatically executed.
Further, in another preferred embodiment, when authentication is triggered when the authentication request is received from the wireless terminal device via the storage means and any of the plurality of wireless communication channels, the authentication is successful. Authentication control means for associating a terminal identifier indicating a wireless terminal device with the wireless communication channel and writing it to the storage means, the communication control means during the period when the wireless communication channel is not selected. When the data addressed to the wireless terminal device using the data is received, the data is written in the storage means in association with the wireless communication channel, and triggered by the wireless communication channel being selected again by the selection means. Data is transmitted to the wireless terminal device. According to such an aspect, when the wireless communication channel used for communication with the wireless terminal device is selected again, it is possible to resume the data communication performed at the previous selection.
In another preferable aspect, the communication control means next performs the wireless communication with respect to a wireless terminal device that performs communication using radio waves of the wireless communication channel before switching before switching the wireless communication channel. Until the channel is selected, the start of a new communication is instructed. According to such an aspect, it is avoided that the wireless terminal device performs useless data transmission in a period in which the wireless communication channel used for communication with the wireless terminal device is not selected. In Non-Patent Document 1, when switching the connection destination from one wireless network to another wireless network, the power saving mode is entered for the communication partner (wireless relay device or wireless terminal device) before the switching. A technique for notifying transmission of unnecessary frames to its own device is disclosed. However, only the wireless terminal device can notify the communication partner that the power save mode is entered, and the technology disclosed in Non-Patent Document 1 is completely different from the present invention that is an invention related to a wireless relay device. .
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
(A: 1st Embodiment)
FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating a hardware configuration example of a
The
The
The carrier
The
The
このCSMA/CAの詳細についてはIEEE802.11を参照されたい。
The

The
The
A frame output from the bridge function unit 116 (that is, a data frame to be transmitted in a wireless section: hereinafter referred to as a transmission data frame) is given to the data frame
The transmission
When the transmission
The channel switching
More specifically, the channel

Next, the effect of this embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
2A shows a state of the wireless LAN when CH (A) is selected in the
As shown in FIG. 2A, under the situation where CH (A) is selected, each of the wireless terminal device a and the wireless terminal device c requests authentication, and if the authentication is successful, the
When a channel switching period (50 ms in this operation example) has elapsed since CH (A) was selected as a communication target channel, the
After transmitting the CTS frame, the
When the channel switching period elapses after selecting CH (B), the
As described above, according to the
(B: Second embodiment)
Next, the
CH(A)→CH(C)→CH(A)→CH(D)→CH(A)→CH(C)・・・といった具合にチャネル選択を行うようにすれば良い。 As a selection order of the wireless communication channels in the present embodiment, it is conceivable to select each of CH (A), CH (C), and CH (D) in this order. However, while a wireless communication channel that only monitors the electric field strength (hereinafter referred to as a monitoring target channel) is selected, communication via the communication target channel is suspended, so that the monitoring period is shortened as much as possible. It is desirable not to select the target channels continuously. For example, in this embodiment, if channel selection is performed such as CH (A) → CH (C) → CH (A) → CH (D) → CH (A) → CH (C). good. In the state where CH (A) is selected, first, communication is performed via this wireless communication channel, and then the channel is monitored.
FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating a configuration example of the
When the channel
The above is the configuration of the
As described above, in the
In the present embodiment, CH (A) belonging to the 2.4 GHz band is a communication target channel, and CH (C) and CH (D) belonging to the 2.4 GHz band are also monitoring target channels. However, as in the first embodiment, CH (A) belonging to the 2.4 GHz band and CH (B) belonging to the 5 GHz band are set as communication target channels, and data communication with the wireless terminal device and electric field strength are set for one channel. It is also possible to perform both monitoring and only perform data communication with the wireless terminal device for the other channel. For example, when performing both data communication with the wireless terminal device and monitoring of the electric field strength for CH (A) and performing only data communication with the wireless terminal device for CH (B), as shown in FIG. In addition, if channel switching is performed, such as data communication via CH (A) → data communication via CH (B) → monitoring electric field intensity of CH (A) → data communication via CH (A). good. Further, both CH (A) and CH (B) data communication with the wireless terminal device and electric field strength monitoring may be performed. In this case, data communication via CH (A) → Channel switching may be performed such as monitoring the electric field intensity of CH (A) → data communication via CH (B) → monitoring the electric field intensity of CH (B) → data communication via CH (A). Further, CH (A) belonging to the 2.4 GHz band and CH (B) belonging to the 5 GHz band are used only for data communication as communication target channels, and CH (C) belonging to the 2.4 GHz band is used as a monitor target channel. Only the monitoring of the electric field intensity may be performed. In this case, as shown in FIG. 5, data communication via CH (A) → data communication via CH (B) → monitoring electric field strength of CH (C) → data communication via CH (A). The channel may be switched in such a manner. In short, each of the plurality of wireless communication channels is cyclically selected, communicated with the wireless terminal device via at least one of the selected wireless communication channels, and the channel is selected for each of the selected wireless communication channels. Any mode may be employed as long as at least one of the communication via the channel and the measurement of the radio wave state of the channel is executed.
In addition, it may be determined in advance whether to use for data communication for each band or to measure electric field strength. For example, a channel belonging to the 2.4 GHz band (for example, CH (A)) is used as a communication target channel for data communication, and a channel belonging to the 5 GHz band (for example, CH (B)) is only measured for electric field strength. And so on. According to such an aspect, for example, the current wireless LAN uses the 2.4 GHz band, but in the future when considering the transition to the 5 GHz band, while operating the wireless LAN, It becomes possible to grasp the radio wave condition in the 5 GHz band, and can be used as a reference when determining whether or not to shift and selecting a channel to be used in the 5 GHz band of the transfer destination.
(C: Third embodiment)
Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described.
FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating a configuration example of the wireless relay device 1C according to the present embodiment. In FIG. 6, the same components as those in FIG. 1 are denoted by the same reference numerals. As is clear from comparison between FIG. 6 and FIG. 1, the configuration of the wireless relay device 1C is different from the configuration of the
More specifically, every time the modulation /
The channel
As illustrated in FIG. 7, the channel
On the other hand, when the determination result in step SA110 is “No”, the channel
That is, in this embodiment, when the load factor difference between the channels is doubled or more and the state of the channel with the heavier load continues for the last five selection periods, the load is light. The process of reducing the selection period of the one channel to 80% and increasing the selection period of the channel having the heavier load to 120% is repeatedly executed until the difference in load factor is less than twice. For example, when the channel switching cycle is 50 ms, the state in which the load factor of CH (A) is 20% or more and the load factor of CH (B) is less than 10% is the five most recent selection periods for CH (A). If this is continued, processing for changing the selection period of each channel is executed until the difference between the load factors of both channels becomes less than twice. That is, the selection period of CH (A) is 50 ms × 1.2 = 60 ms, and the selection period of CH (B) is 50 ms × 0.8 = 40 ms. As a result, as shown in FIG. 8, the communication suspension period by CTS is 50 ms obtained by adding the guard time of 10 ms to 40 ms that is the selection period of CH (B) for CH (A), and similarly for CH (B). Is 70 ms.
As described above, according to the wireless relay device 1C of this embodiment, in addition to the same effects as those of the first embodiment, selection of a wireless communication channel with a light channel load factor (that is, a wireless communication channel with a low usage rate) is selected. By shortening the period and conversely increasing the selection period of a radio communication channel with a heavy channel load factor (that is, a radio communication channel with a high utilization rate), each radio communication channel can be used more efficiently. Become.

(D: 4th Embodiment)
FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating a configuration example of a
In the
The monitor result reflection timing generation means 135 is a basic timing (for example, one timing per hour) for reflecting the periodic electric field intensity monitor result on the communication parameters (wireless communication channel, communication speed switching pattern, transmission power). ) Is generated. At this basic timing, the monitor
FIG. 10 is a flowchart showing the flow of the monitor result reflection process executed by the monitor
If the determination result in step SB110 is “Yes”, the monitor
In step SB150, which is executed when the determination result of step SB130 is “No” (that is, when neither CH (C) nor CH (D) is an empty channel), the monitor
If the determination result in step SB150 is “No”, the monitor
Conversely, if the determination result in step SB150 is “Yes”, the monitor
When the determination result in step SB170 is “Yes” (that is, when the communication speed is lowered to the lower limit but the radio wave condition is not improved), the monitor
As described above, according to the
Further, in the present embodiment, when interference is found (when the determination result in step SB100 is “Yes”), first, a process of attempting to change to an empty channel (process from step SB110 to step SB140) is performed. However, the process from step SB110 to step SB140 may be omitted, and the process of step SB150 may be executed immediately when interference is found. Also, the process from step SB110 to step SB140 is not omitted, but any one of the process that attempts to reduce the communication speed (process of step SB170 and SB180) and the process that tries to increase the transmission power (process of step SB190 and SB200) One or both may be omitted. Note that when both the process of attempting to reduce the communication speed and the process of attempting to increase the transmission power are omitted, the processes of steps SB150 and SB160 can also be omitted. In this case, if there is no free channel, mail transmission to the administrator (step SB210) is immediately executed.

Further, the present invention may be applied to a wireless relay device that supports three or more frequency bands. At present, there are two types of frequency bands of communication radio waves in the wireless LAN, the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band. However, another frequency band may be used in the future. Further, in each of the above embodiments, the application example of the present invention to the wireless relay device that accommodates the wireless terminal device and functions as the switching hub has been described. However, the present invention may be applied to a wireless relay device that accommodates a wireless terminal device and functions as a router. In this case, an IP address is used instead of a MAC address as a terminal identifier for identifying the wireless terminal device. It ’s fine.

A case has been described in which transmission is performed to the wireless terminal device when the wireless communication channel is selected again. However, if the communication executed by each wireless terminal device is a communication that does not require state saving, such as browsing a Web page, it is not necessary to perform queuing as described above.
