In a fixing device used in an image forming apparatus, a recording medium carrying an unfixed toner image is fed into a nip portion between a heating member and a pressure member, and the toner on the recording medium is melted by the heating action of the heating member. At the same time, the toner image is fixed on the recording medium by applying a pressure action from the pressure member to the melted toner image. In order to prevent the recording medium on which the toner image is fixed from being wound around the heating member, a separation member including a separation claw or the like is provided.
