この巾止め金具は、防雪板を有孔平板を用いてボルトとナットにて固定するものであって、通常は防雪板に設けられている孔を利用して施工時に取り付けられるのであるが、施行後の時間経過とともに、その補修点検が行われる。この点検にて巾止め金具の交換が必要となれば、ボルトとナットを取り外すために、防雪板の表側と裏側各1名による作業が必要となるために、多くの時間と労力を必要とする。すなわち、防雪柵の延長数が長いと裏に回り込むのが大変であり、また、函渠では、裏側作業が困難(高所作業車が必要になる)であるため、より能率的な手段が求められているのが現状である。本発明は以上に鑑み、防雪板正面方向からの作業のみにて、巾止め金具の新規取付を可能とする新規かつ有用なる手段を提供するべく発明されたものである。

なお、記述例において、θを93度としたが、これは実験にて確かめられたデータによるものであるが、これに近似の92度から95度の範囲でも使用可能である。ただし、この角度が小さすぎると押圧力が不足し、大きすぎると基体と押圧板との隙間が大きくなって好ましくない。押圧板板厚は2.3ミリメートルから3.2ミリメートルの範囲が適当である。また、上部押圧体と下部押圧体は上下に入れ替えて用いてもよい。
