Claims (22)
- データストレージ媒体と、
前記データストレージ媒体に結合されたデータストレージコントローラと、
複数のエントリを含むマッピングテーブルと、
を備え、前記マッピングテーブルエントリの各々は、キーを含むタプルを含み、
前記データストレージコントローラは、可変長符号化を使用して前記マッピングテーブル内の各タプルを符号化するように構成される、
ことを特徴とするコンピュータシステム。 - 前記マッピングテーブルは、各レベルが1又はそれ以上のマッピングテーブルエントリを含む複数の時間順レベルとして構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 所与のタプルの複数の符号化のうちの特定の符号化が、前記所与のタプルの符号化前のサイズ、前記所与のタプルの符号化後のサイズ、及び前記所与のタプルを符号化する時間に少なくとも部分的に基づいて選択される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 前記データストレージコントローラは、所与のタプルの複数の符号化を行い、該複数の符号化の1つを最終的な符号化として選択するように構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 前記データストレージコントローラは、所与のマッピングテーブルエントリを最初に復号することなく、該エントリがクエリを満たすかどうかを調べるように構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 前記マッピングテーブルは、前記システム内の仮想ブロックに対応するキーを有するエントリを記憶する、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 所与の仮想ブロック範囲のエントリは、該ブロック範囲を含むデータの場所を容易に検索できるようにする情報を記憶する、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 所与の仮想ブロック範囲のエントリは、該所与の仮想ブロック範囲内のデータに関して計算したハッシュ値を記憶する、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 所与の仮想ブロック範囲のエントリは、ストレージにさらにアクセスせずに前記仮想ブロック範囲を再構成するために使用できるデータパターンを記憶する、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 前記マッピングテーブルは、前記データストレージ媒体内のページとして記憶されたデータを含み、前記データストレージコントローラは、前記ページの少なくとも一部に対して異なるデータ符号化を使用するように構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - タプルの符号化後の表現のサイズと前記タプルの符号化前の表現のサイズの比率が前記ページ毎に変化し得る、
ことを特徴とする請求項10に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 符号化前のタプルを表すために使用するビットの最大数を、前記タプルを再符号化する必要なく変更することができる、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 前記マッピングテーブルのサイズは、有効なマッピングが存在する空間の量に比例する、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - 前記可変長符号化は、基準及びオフセットを含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のコンピュータシステム。 - ストレージシステムで使用する方法であって、
キーを含むタプルを各エントリが含む1又はそれ以上のマッピングテーブルエントリを各レベルが含む複数のレベルとして構成されたマッピングテーブルを記憶するステップと、
可変長符号化を使用して前記マッピングテーブル内の各タプルを符号化するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記マッピングテーブルは、各レベルが1又はそれ以上のマッピングテーブルエントリを含む複数の時間順レベルとして構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。 - 所与のタプルの複数の符号化のうちの特定の符号化を、前記所与のタプルの符号化前のサイズ、前記所与のタプルの符号化後のサイズ、及び前記所与のタプルを符号化する時間に少なくとも部分的に基づいて選択するステップをさらに含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。 - 所与のタプルの複数の符号化を行い、該複数の符号化の1つを最終的な符号化として選択するステップをさらに含む、

可変長符号化を使用して前記マッピングテーブル内の各タプルを符号化する、
ように実行可能である、
