Description
提案する解決策の態様では、それを通過する光の伝搬を制御するための可変光学装置を提供する。
図5Aは、提案する解決策に係る単一偏光の同調可能な液晶レンズ(TLCL)構造を示す。TLCL300は、緩衝層340によってLC層510から分離された弱導電層(WCL)326の頂部にアパーチャを形成する頂部固定穴パターン化導電性リング電極322を含む電界整形制御(層)副構造328を有する。WCL326は頂部穴パターン化リング電極322と物理的に直接接触するか、あるいは特定の層の材料の選択を含め、製造上の配慮を前提として電気的に接触する(全ての層の材料が互いに接合するわけではない)。頂部穴パターン化電極322とWCL326との間に設けられる電気的接触は、TLCL300が2つの電極322および124だけを使用することを可能にする。したがって、TLCL300は、駆動信号生成および制御回路の複雑さを最小化する単一の駆動信号を必要とする。頂部穴パターン化電極322は、本発明を限定することなく、Alから形成することができる。他の低抵抗電極構成を使用してもよく、そのような材料選択はウェハ製造の当業者が精通している製造要因に依存する。

1つが正のデルタイプシロン、もう1つが負のデルタイプシロンの周波数による少なくとも2つの振幅変調駆動信号成分を有する駆動信号によって生成される空間変調電界にさらされる二周波ネマチック液晶(DF‐LC)をTLCLに使用することにより、屈折力を両方向に変化させながら、励起条件下で連続的に動作可能なTLCLがもたらされることが明らかになった。
非限定例として、図5Bに関連して、提案する解決策に従って実現される可変焦点平坦屈折TLCレンズの寸法(ジオメトリ)を提供する。寸法はジオメトリおよび材料の選択に応じて大きく変化することができることは理解されるであろう。
零周波数および零Vrms振幅時に、LC層510は配向層112および114によって支配される。LC分子は、例えば3度に実質的に配向される。LC層510の屈折率は、アパーチャ全体にわたって変動しない。レンズ効果はLC層510によってもたらされ、したがってTLCL400は零屈折力を達成する。図5Bに示すこの非通電(U‐LOP)基底状態は、ジオメトリの物理的性質によって支配される受動状態である。例えば4度未満の非常に低い角度では、電界によってLC分子にトルクがほとんど加えられず、レンズが形成されるので、応答は非線形効果を有する。一部のLC分子は、電荷移動の引継ぎ前に、劇的な屈折率の変動性を導くおそれのある配向ドメイン(ディスクリネーション)を形成する。

- 前記層化構造が前記電極構造の少なくともアパーチャを充填する透明な弱導電層をさらに含み、前記弱導電層が前記弱導電層内の周波数依存性電荷移動性を可能にする周波数依存性材料を含む、請求項1または2に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記駆動信号成分が提供されたとき、前記周波数依存性電荷移動性が前記電極構造に駆動信号周波数特定的有効電気プロファイルを持たせ、前記第1駆動信号成分が略平坦な空間分布を有する電界成分を印加させ、前記第2駆動信号成分が空間変動電界成分を印加させる、請求項3に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記弱導電層がさらに、前記空間変調電界の勾配を軟化させるように構成された、請求項3に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記周波数依存性材料がさらに、前記空間変調電界を整形するように構成された周波数応答性電界勾配制御層として前記弱導電層を機能させる、請求項3ないし5のいずれか一項に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- レンズ、ビームステアリング装置、および光シャッタのうちの1つをさらに備え、前記合成空間変調電界を介する液晶分子配向の制御された変動が前記液晶層に前記光ビームをそれぞれ合焦、操縦、および遮蔽させる、請求項1ないし6のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記電極構造が回転対称な電界空間変調をもたらす穴パターン化電極を備え、前記光学装置が同調可能な液晶レンズであり、かつ前記光学特性が屈折力である、請求項1ないし7のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記穴パターン化電極が、前記同調可能な液晶レンズの光学アパーチャを画定するように構成された、請求項8に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記電極構造が分割リング電極を備え、前記制御駆動信号回路が前記第1および第2駆動信号成分の1つを各電極セグメントに別々に印加させ、前記光学特性が光学画像安定化である、請求項1ないし9のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記光学装置が同調可能な液晶レンズであり、前記分割リング電極を駆動することによりパラメトリックレンズがもたらされる、請求項10に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記液晶材料が二周波液晶材料MLC−2048を含む、請求項1ないし11のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記電極構造と前記液晶セルとの間に緩衝基板をさらに備え、前記緩衝基板が液晶セルの厚さに対する感受性を低減するように構成された、請求項1ないし12のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記電極構造がさらに、前記液晶セルを跨いで前記第1の透明な電極層の反対側に第2の透明な電極層を備え、屈折力を変化させる際に前記第2の透明な電極層が過渡的駆動信号成分によって駆動される、請求項1ないし13のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記同調可能な光学装置が前記光ビームの単一偏光に関する前記空間変調光学特性変動を引き起こし、前記同調可能な光学装置がさらに、2つの直交偏光に対し相補的光学特性変動を引き起こすように構成された二重構造を備えた、請求項2ないし14のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 前記二重構造が液晶セル間に直交液晶配向層ラビング方向を有し、前記各偏光が線形であり、前記二重構造がフル偏光光学特性変動をもたらすように構成された、請求項15に記載の同調可能な光学装置。
- 請求項1に記載の同調可能な光学装置を使用したカメラレンズ組立体。
- 請求項1または17に記載の同調可能な光学装置を使用したカメラモジュールであって、画像センサおよび少なくとも1つの画像取得部品をさらに備えたカメラモジュール。
- 前記少なくとも1つの画像取得部品がさらに、前記同調可能な液晶レンズを合焦するために電界制御装置を備えた、請求項18に記載のカメラモジュール。
- 液晶層および電極構造を有し、前記液晶層がクロスオーバ周波数を中心に誘電異方性を示す二周波液晶材料を含み、前記電極構造が前記液晶層に作用するように構成されて成る同調可能な液晶光学装置の動作方法であって、第1振幅で前記クロスオーバ周波数より低い周波数を有する第1駆動信号成分および第2振幅で前記クロスオーバ周波数より高い周波数を有する第2駆動信号成分を前記電極構造に略同時に印加して、前記液晶層の液晶分子ダイレクタが前記第1および第2駆動信号成分の差分によって励起され、前記同調可能な液晶光学装置に対応する光学特性値を発現させるステップを含む方法。
- 初期低周波駆動信号成分を印加して、前記液晶分子ダイレクタを初期低プレチルト励起角度に配向させるステップをさらに含む、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記光学特性が屈折力であり、前記第1および第2駆動信号成分のいずれか一方が変化することによりさらに、低屈折力と高屈折力との間で正および負方向の対応する一方向の屈折力の絶対的な変化が生じる、請求項20または21に記載の方法。
- 前記第1および第2駆動信号成分のいずれか一方が変化することによりさらに、負屈折力と正屈折力との間で屈折力の変化が生じる、請求項22に記載の方法。
- a.前記第1駆動信号成分を消失させ、予め定められた振幅で予め定められた持続時間だけ前記第2駆動信号成分を印加して、屈折力変化を生じさせるステップと、
b.前記予め定められた持続時間に、所望の最終屈折力値に対応する周波数および振幅で、前記駆動信号成分を再確立するステップと、を含む、請求項22または23に記載の方法。 - 前記光学装置が同調可能な液晶レンズであり、かつ前記光学特性が光学画像安定化であり、前記第1および第2駆動信号成分のいずれか一方が変化するとさらに、有効レンズ位置および/または形状の変化が生じる、請求項20または21に記載の方法。
- 同調可能な液晶レンズを使用する撮像システムで焦点を取得するための自動焦点方法であって、前記同調可能な液晶レンズが液晶層および電極構造を有し、前記液晶層がクロスオーバ周波数を中心に誘電異方性を示す二周波液晶材料を含み、前記電極構造が前記液晶層に作用するように構成され、前記液晶層の液晶分子ダイレクタが前記電極構造に同時に印加される第1および第2駆動信号成分の差分によって励起されて、前記同調可能な液晶レンズに対応する屈折力値を発現させ、第1駆動信号成分が第1振幅でクロスオーバ周波数より低い周波数を有し、かつ第2駆動信号成分が第2振幅でクロスオーバ周波数より高い周波数を有し、前記方法が、
a.前記第1および第2駆動信号成分のいずれか一方を変化させて、低屈折力と高屈折力との間で、正および負方向の対応する一方向に絶対的な屈折力の変化を引き起こすステップと、
b.焦点スコアを得るステップと、
c.焦点スコアを変化させるために前記駆動信号成分のパラメータを決定するステップと、
d.前記方法を繰り返すステップと、を含む方法。 - パラメータを決定する前記ステップがさらに、前記駆動信号成分のパラメータを決定して、少なくとも2つの焦点スコアを得た後で、焦点スコアを増大させることを含む、請求項26に記載の自動焦点方法。
- パラメータを決定する前記ステップがさらに、以前の焦点スコアの閾値内にあるその後に得た焦点スコアを検出し、かつ焦点取得を合図することを含む、請求項26または27に記載の自動焦点方法。
- パラメータを決定する前記ステップがさらに、少なくとも1つの駆動信号成分振幅パラメータを決定することを含む、請求項26ないし28のいずれかに記載の自動焦点方法。
- 前記レンズが請求項1ないし19のいずれかに記載の同調可能な光学装置である、請求項26ないし29のいずれか一項に記載の自動焦点方法。
