As a conventional encoder, for example,
However, in the encoder described in
Therefore, the present invention can be applied to a photodetection device that can suppress an increase in size of a device to which the present invention is applied and can accurately detect information on the polarization direction of light, and such a photodetection device. An object is to provide an encoder.
The light detection device of the present invention is provided for each pixel region on a plurality of pixel regions including at least one pixel and a light detection element having a plurality of pixels, and the direction of the transmission axis is different between adjacent pixel regions. A plurality of polarizing filters.
In this photodetection device, the photodetection element and the polarization filter are integrated. Therefore, according to this photodetection device, it is possible to suppress an increase in the size of the device to be applied, and to accurately detect information on the polarization direction of light.
In the photodetecting device of the present invention, the pixel region may consist of one pixel. In the light detection device of the present invention, a plurality of polarizing filters having the same transmission axis direction may be distributed on the light detection element. According to this configuration, by averaging the outputs from the plurality of pixel regions in which the polarization filters having the same transmission axis direction are arranged, it is possible to reduce the influence of variations in the intensity distribution of the irradiated light.
In the photodetector of the present invention, the polarizing filter may be a structure provided with a plurality of grooves extending in a direction parallel to the transmission axis and arranged in a direction perpendicular to the transmission axis. According to this configuration, the light use efficiency can be improved by adjusting the width of the groove and the distance (pitch) between adjacent grooves so that the transmittance of the irradiated light is increased.
An encoder according to the present invention includes a rotating body, a light source that emits light, an optical element that is irradiated with light emitted from the light source, and emits light having a predetermined polarization direction in response to the irradiation of the light, and optical And the optical detection device that detects light emitted from the element, and the optical element or the optical detection device is rotated according to the rotation of the rotating body. Here, the optical element may be rotated according to the rotation of the rotating body by being provided on the rotating body, or alternatively, the optical detector may be rotated by rotating the rotating body by being provided on the rotating body. It may be rotated accordingly.
Since the above-described photodetector is applied to the above encoder, it is possible to suppress the enlargement of the encoder and to accurately detect the angle of the rotating body based on the information on the polarization direction of the light. .
According to the present invention, it is possible to suppress an increase in the size of a device to be applied, and to apply a photodetection device that can accurately detect information on the polarization direction of light, and such a photodetection device. An encoder can be provided.
DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In addition, in each figure, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the same or an equivalent part, and the overlapping description is abbreviate | omitted.
[First Embodiment]
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The
The polarizing plate 6 is fitted in an
The
As shown in FIG. 2, the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
In this embodiment, the semiconductor material is silicon to which a predetermined impurity is added at a predetermined concentration. However, other semiconductor materials may be used. In the present embodiment, the first conductivity type is N-type and the second conductivity type is P-type, but the opposite may be possible. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the
As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2, the
In the
As a specific example, the output from the
In addition, between the
Here, in a state where the rotation angle of the rotating plate 4 is shifted by 180 ° (for example, the state of the rotation angle of 0 ° and the state of the rotation angle of 180 ° shown in FIG. 4), the
As described above, in the
In the
In the
Further, in the
[Second Embodiment]
As shown in FIG. 5, the
[Third Embodiment]
As shown in FIG. 6, the
[Fourth Embodiment]
As shown in FIG. 7, the
[Fifth Embodiment]
As shown in FIG. 8, the
[Sixth Embodiment]
As shown in FIG. 9, the
The first to sixth embodiments of the present invention have been described above, but the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments. For example, in each of the above embodiments, the
As an example, in the photodetector shown in FIG. 10, the angle of the transmission axis (that is, the angle formed by the direction of the transmission axis with respect to the row direction) is changed for each of the polarization filters 15 provided for each
Moreover, although each said embodiment was a case where the groove |
Further, instead of the
