Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attach a cushion made of a soft raw material to a squarish part of the body of a guitar so as to allow a player to concentrate on playing without giving the player pain even when the elbow of a hand on a string-picking side comes into contact with the squarish part.SOLUTION: An elbow pad cushion has a substantially boomerang-shaped appearance, its external surface is formed in a smooth circular arc shape and its rear surface consists of two surfaces configured at an angle of about 90°. On one of the two surfaces, a material made of a soft raw material conformed to the curve of the outside part of a guitar body is brought into close contact with and installed on a guitar body section with which the elbow of a hand on a string-picking side comes into contact during playing.

Description

The present invention relates to an elbow rest installed on a guitar body.

When playing the guitar, the left hand usually holds the guitar neck and the right hand plays with the elbow on the upper side of the body. At that time, particularly in the case of an acoustic guitar, the right elbow is placed on an angular part of about 90 degrees where the body's top plate and side plate are structurally connected. By playing with the elbow on the angular part, the elbow is gradually damaged and hinders performance. Also, depending on the type of clothes, in a shirt such as a short sleeve, the cornered portion directly bites into the skin of the right elbow, and the pain increases when playing for a long time, thus making it difficult to perform comfortably. As a result, if you look at the elbow that was placed on the corner after the performance, you will have a trace of a straight, hollow line, and you will not be able to remove it for a while.

Utility Model Registration No. 3167291

Conventionally, there is nothing that reduces elbow pain, and technically, the body (resonance box) top plate is processed into a smooth inclined surface 21 at the stage of guitar production as in Utility Model Registration No. 3167291. There is a way to relieve pain by supporting only the part that hits (Fig. 1).
However, in this case, since the front plate is bent, the effect of resonating with the plate by vibration of the most important string on the front plate is lost. The role of the thin single plate used for the front plate is like a drum skin. Although it vibrates in a flat state, if it is bent, the vibration disappears, and as a result, the vibration of the strings does not reach the side plate and the back plate, and the sound does not sound badly balanced from low to high.
In addition, due to the long history of acoustic guitars, a detailed guitar is calculated from the design stage to details such as material, body shape, neck size, etc. to achieve better sound quality, and a highly complete guitar is completed. Therefore, bending or shaving the body material easily changes the properties of the body (resonance box), resulting in a decrease in the original ability.
In addition, the technique by this processing is not easy, and the production cost is high, so that mass production is difficult and generally cannot be marketed. Therefore, to own this guitar, you must order one item from the manufacturer. However, the sound quality effect is poor and the guitar becomes uselessly expensive, and there is a fear that it becomes a poor guitar that is far from the original purpose of “reducing elbow pain”.
An electric guitar has a technique called contour cutting that reduces the pain in the elbow by cutting the wood on the part where the elbow touches diagonally. However, since the body is hard wood, elbow pain is always accompanied by long performance.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
The form of the elbow rest cushion of the present invention is similar to a substantially boomerang shape (FIG. 2).
However, unlike the boomerang, the elbow cushion 1 of the present invention has a front surface and a back surface, and the shapes and roles of both surfaces are completely different. Since the surface of the elbow pad cushion 1 of the present invention is a portion on which the elbow is placed, it is a soft material and has a rounded arc shape.
The back surface is cut so as to have an arcuate gentle curve so that it can be attached to a portion of an angle of about 90 ° where the front plate 20 and the side plate 30 of the body are connected to the guitar. As shown in FIG. 3, the xx ′ cross section of the elbow pad cushion according to the present invention is an L-shape whose surface that contacts the body is 90 °.
It should be noted that there are single and plywood boards used for acoustic guitar bodies. A single plate is easy to transmit delicate vibrations by a single plate, so it has excellent acoustic effect that resonates the vibration of the picked string with the whole body. However, because it is expensive, it is often used for high-end guitars for intermediate and advanced players.
Plywood is a laminate of two plates that is used to reduce costs and increase strength, but is often used for low-priced guitars that do not vibrate as much as a single plate and therefore have poor sound. Therefore, since the effect of sound quality greatly depends on the difference between the single plate and the plywood, when the cushion is mounted, an appropriate size of about 13 cm is provided so as not to disturb the vibration of the front plate 20 and the side plate 30 as much as possible. I made it.

The material of the cushion is soft skin-friendly material, preferably soft plastic, soft rubber, and most preferably soft silicon rubber.
