DHA+EPA:0.5〜2.5%

を含む食餌、たとえばほぼ実施例1の被験食の栄養素組成をもつ食餌、たとえば乾燥重量基準でほぼ表1に示す量+/−10%の成分を含む食餌が含まれる。
[0008] この試験は、四肢変性性関節疾患(DJD)を伴うネコに与えた場合に被験食が全血中の遺伝子発現プロフィールに及ぼす効果を評価するために実施された。跛行およびDJDに一致するX線像の変化を伴う31匹のショートヘア家猫(初期体重4.2±1.27kg、年齢12.1±2.98歳)を試験に含めた。すべてのネコに対照食を28日間与えた後、被験食を与えた。被験食は増加したレベルのDHAおよびEPA、メチオニン、マンガン、ビタミンC、ビタミンE、ならびにL−カルニチンを含有していた。対照食の最終日および被験食摂取14日後に全血試料を採集した。被験食を14日間摂取した後、DJDを伴うネコでは、DJDのネコにおいて健康な高齢のネコと対比してアップレギュレートされることが確認された6種類の遺伝子(INDO、ANXA1、MMP8、CD79a、ODC1、およびSTXBP2)の発現が低下していた。これらの遺伝子は軟骨分解、B細胞機能、ポリアミン合成、およびタンパク質転送と関連する。まとめると、DJDを伴うネコに被験食を与えることにより、健康な高齢のネコと対比してDJDを伴うネコの血中に先にみられた遺伝子発現パターンが14日後に復帰した。
Claims (8)
- ネコの炎症状態を検出する方法であって、INDO、ANXA1、MMP8、CD79a、ODC1、およびSTXBP2のうち1種類以上から選択される遺伝子の血中レベルを測定することを含み、その際、発現の増大を炎症状態と相関させる方法。
- 増加したレベルのDHA、EPA、メチオニン、マンガン、ビタミンC、ビタミンE、および/またはL−カルニチンのうち1種類以上を含む食餌を与えることにより炎症状態を治療または抑制する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記の食餌を少なくとも2週間の期間与える、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 食餌が、増加したレベルのDHA、EPA、メチオニン、マンガン、ビタミンC、ビタミンE、および/またはL−カルニチンのうち1種類以上を含むネコ用食餌である、請求項2または3に記載の方法。
- 食餌が、乾燥重量基準で0.25〜5%のDHA+EPAを含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
