Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell system including a fuel cell to which liquid fuel is supplied.
To date, various types of fuel cells such as alkaline type (AFC), solid polymer type (PEFC), phosphoric acid type (PAFC), molten carbonate type (MCFC), and solid electrolyte type (SOFC) are known. It has been. Among these, since the polymer electrolyte fuel cell can be operated at a relatively low temperature, use in various applications such as an automobile application has been studied.
Specifically, a polymer electrolyte fuel cell is known in which an anode to which fuel is supplied and a cathode to which air is supplied are disposed opposite to each other with an electrolyte layer made of a solid polymer membrane interposed therebetween.
In such a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, it is known that the anode and the cathode contain a catalyst containing, for example, cobalt or nickel, and when the solid polymer membrane is an anion exchange membrane. It is known to use hydrazine as a fuel.
On the other hand, in such a fuel cell, fuel is supplied to the anode, but the supplied fuel may permeate the electrolyte layer without reacting at the anode and leak to the cathode (crossover phenomenon). In such a case, since the fuel is oxidized and decomposed by the catalyst (cathode catalyst) contained in the cathode, the power generation performance may be lowered, and the fuel cannot be recovered and reused. There is a problem that consumption increases.
。 Therefore, various methods for suppressing the crossover phenomenon in solid polymer fuel cells have been studied. Specifically, for example, a palladium thin film is used as an anode, a solid polymer film is used as an electrolyte, and a cathode is combined. A dehydrogenation type polymer electrolyte fuel cell provided has been proposed (for example, see Patent Document 1).
In such a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, since the palladium thin film is used for the anode electrode, the crossover phenomenon can be suppressed.
However, the solid polymer fuel cell described in
Furthermore, the polymer electrolyte fuel cell described in
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell system that can ensure excellent power generation performance with a simple configuration, and can achieve low fuel consumption and low cost.
In order to achieve the above object, a fuel cell system of the present invention includes an electrolyte layer, an anode disposed on one side of the electrolyte layer, supplied with hydrazines as a liquid fuel, and disposed on the other side of the electrolyte layer. And a fuel cell having a cathode to which air is supplied, a fuel supply means for supplying hydrazines to the anode, and a fuel recovery means for recovering hydrazines discharged from the cathode, wherein the cathode comprises hydrazine It is characterized by containing a cathode catalyst capable of suppressing the oxidation of a kind.
In such a fuel cell system, since the cathode contains a cathode catalyst capable of suppressing the oxidation of hydrazines, the liquid fuel can be used even when the liquid fuel supplied to the anode leaks to the cathode due to a crossover phenomenon. Can be prevented from being oxidized and decomposed, so that excellent power generation performance can be ensured.
Further, in such a fuel cell system, the liquid fuel leaked to the cathode can be recovered by the fuel recovery means and reused with a simple configuration and without using an expensive noble metal. Cost can be reduced.
According to the fuel cell system of the present invention, excellent power generation performance can be ensured with a simple configuration, and fuel consumption and cost can be reduced.
