このような構成とすると、加締めによって金属リングの外周部を下方(先端)へ押し下げる応力が金属リング全体にかかり、ガスセンサが加熱されて加締め部が延びた際にこの応力と反対方向に金属リングがスプリングバックする。そして、このスプリングバックに伴い、金属リングの先端向き面(先端)側が絶縁部材を先端へ押し下げ、これによって加締めの緩みを防止し、シール材による気密性の劣化を抑制する。ここで、金属リングの外周部が絶縁部材の基端部の基端向き面より先端側に位置する程度に、充分に加締め加重を掛けることにより、上記したスプリングバック効果も大きくなり、加締めの緩みを防止し、シール材による気密性の劣化を抑制することができる。
なお、「金属リングの外周部の先端向き面が、絶縁部材の基端部の基端向き面より先端側に位置する」とは、金属リングが絶縁部材とハウジングとの間隙に食い込むことである。
