Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a stud structure. Specifically, the present invention relates to the structure of the tip of a stud used for resistance stud welding.
Resistance stud welding is a type of resistance welding (welding by applying a large current to the welded joint, heating it with the resistance heat generated here, and applying pressure). Butt projection welding, which is classified as resistance welding performed under pressure (provided with projections [protrusions] at the base metal welds, current is concentrated to flow through the protuberances, heating and pressurizing at the same time as pressure welding) ) Resistance welding included. Resistance stud welding is welding performed mainly using resistance heat generated by energization between a flat base material and the tip of a bolt or a round bar.
And when performing resistance stud welding, it is easy to produce spatter. Spatter is slag or metal particles that scatters during welding. Generally, metal that has lost its place when the protrusions are melted and pressed during welding is ejected by melting pressure. Specifically, when the stud weld is inserted into the molten mother pond, spatter is generated from the molten surface and scatters violently around. For this reason, there is a problem that welding is incomplete due to hindering the formation of an appropriate surplus in the weld. Therefore, an arc stud welding method using an arc is performed (for example, Patent Document 1). However, when arc stud welding is used, there is a problem that it is not suitable for cost problems and automation of the welding process.
Therefore, a stud that can solve such problems and can catch the scattering of sputtering is disclosed (Patent Document 2).
This stud is a welding stud having a stud base and a stud weld that protrudes, and is formed by forming a recess in the stud base.
Specifically, it is formed by providing a stud weld part protruding from the center of the stud base part and a groove-like concave part that circulates in contact with the base end of the stud weld part. When stud welding is performed using this welding stud, spatter generated during stud welding is received by the concave portion, and an appropriate surplus is formed in the welded portion.
However, the above technique has the following drawbacks.
1. A recess must be provided around the stud base, which narrows the choice of stud shape.
2. By providing a recess around the stud base, a large diameter is required as a whole, and a larger space is required.
3. The strength of the welded stud is closely related to the stud area in contact with the workpiece, but the weld strength is weakened by the presence of the recess.
4). Spatter is scattered from the tip of the stud toward the outer recess.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a stud and a welding method that do not use an arc in resistance stud welding, prevent spattering, do not require extra space, and provide good welding strength. Objective.
In order to achieve the above object, the present inventor has studied the scattering of spatter. As a result, when a recess is provided in the center of the center of the tip of the stud and welding is performed directly by resistance heating, spatter is sucked into the recess and most of it becomes part of the molten pool, so that spatter is substantially generated. I found that it would be in the same state as not.
That is, in order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the stud of the present invention is a stud used for resistance stud welding, and is provided with a concave portion in parallel to the axial direction of the stud at the tip end of the stud constituting the welded portion. And the axial center portion of the tip of the stud contacting the workpiece is a cavity.
Further, it is preferable that the stud is provided with a flange and the depth of the concave portion does not reach the flange protruding position. Further, it is preferable that the diameter of the recess is larger than the depth of the recess.
Moreover, it is preferable that the cross section of a recessed part is circular and a diameter is below the diameter of the base of a stud.
Furthermore, the resistance stud welding method of the present invention comprises melting the aforementioned stud by direct resistance heating by energization and welding it to a workpiece having a flat surface.
That is, in this invention, the recessed part is provided in parallel to the axial direction from the protrusion tip of the stud. For this reason, the center of the stud tip that comes into contact with the workpiece during welding becomes hollow and has a ring shape. However, the recess does not necessarily have to be circular. When resistance stud welding is performed, spatter is sucked into the recesses, and most of it becomes a part of the molten pool, so that substantially the same spatter does not occur.
The cross-sectional shape of the recess is preferably a circular shape in consideration of the shape of the stud whose cross-section is often circular and ease of manufacture, but it may be a polygon and is not particularly limited.
The diameter of the recess may be less than or equal to the diameter of the base of the stud (when the flange is provided, the diameter of the portion excluding the flange) and can be set as appropriate. Preferably, if there is a width of about 1/4 to 3/4 of the diameter of the stud body, the object of the present invention can be suitably achieved.
The depth of the concave portion can be appropriately set according to the amount of melting or the like, but is desirably a depth at which the concave portion is filled with the molten metal after welding. If the depth is excessively deep, a hollow portion is formed in the stud base after welding, resulting in a pipe shape and a decrease in strength. For this reason, the ratio of the width (diameter) to the depth of the recess is preferably about 4: 1 to 3: 2. Moreover, when the flange is provided in the stud, it is preferable that the depth of the recess does not reach the position where the flange protrudes. The overhang position is based on the position from the base side. This is because if the depth is greater than this, the recesses are deeper than necessary and the welding strength is reduced.
The recess can be provided by drilling a hole from the tip of the stud. Therefore, manufacture is relatively easy. However, it is also possible to manufacture by other methods such as providing a mold and integrally forming.
The stud using the stud structure according to the present invention can be welded in direct contact with the workpiece using resistance heating by energization. Usually, the work surface with which the stud contacts is flat. The stud material and various welding conditions are not different from normal resistance stud welding.
As a result of adopting the above configuration, the stud tip that is in direct contact with the workpiece has a ring shape with a hollow center, so the area to be melted is the entire area of the ring while reducing the area in direct contact with the workpiece. Can be sufficiently obtained, and the concave portion is filled with the molten metal, and sufficient welding strength can be obtained. Further, since the sputter is sucked into the concave portion and almost becomes a part of the molten pool, the situation is substantially the same as when no spatter is generated. As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to prevent spatter and to obtain a good welding strength without requiring an extra space.
