Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a battery pack configured by connecting a plurality of secondary batteries, and an electric bicycle equipped with the battery pack.
Various types of secondary batteries are used as electric power sources for driving or auxiliary driving in electric bicycles.Lithium ion secondary batteries, in which charging and discharging are performed by moving lithium ions between the negative electrode and the positive electrode, Since it has battery characteristics of high energy density and high output, it is suitable as a battery for driving power supply.
As the lithium ion battery, a cylindrical battery obtained by winding a positive electrode and a negative electrode laminated via a separator, and a flat battery obtained by laminating a positive electrode and a negative electrode via a separator are known.
Among these, flat-shaped ones can easily increase the capacity per unit cell by increasing the area of the positive and negative electrodes or increasing the number of positive and negative electrodes to be stacked. It is suitable as a battery for power supplies.
A flat unit battery of a lithium ion battery can effectively utilize the high energy density of a lithium ion battery by covering a battery element with a film-shaped exterior material.
The film-clad battery is used for various applications. For example, Patent Document 1 (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2007-257901) proposes a battery pack for an electric bicycle using a film-clad battery.
There are two types of electric bicycles: one that reduces the burden on the driver when the bicycle is driven by the action of a motor that is installed, and one that allows the driver to run without having to step on the pedal. Since the mass of a motor, a driving device, and a battery for driving the motor is added to the electric bicycle, it is required to reduce the mass of these devices. A battery with a large capacity is required to use the action of the motor during long-distance or long-time movement.
Among various types of batteries, a lithium ion battery having a large mass energy density and large volume energy density is suitable for an electric bicycle. In particular, a film-clad battery packaged with a film-shaped packaging material has a feature that its energy efficiency is higher than a battery using a metal can as a packaging material.
Some electric bicycles have wheels mounted on a bearing attached to the vehicle body via a shock absorber, but the impact applied to the vehicle body is significantly different from that of an automobile. For this reason, the battery pack attached to the bicycle body has a large impact and vibration from the road surface.
On the other hand, since a film-clad battery excellent in energy density is covered with a thin film-shaped packaging material, countermeasures against impact and vibration are more important than a battery housed in a metal-made can.
In the battery pack of
Further, if the interval is increased in order to facilitate the insertion of the flat battery, a gap is generated between the intermediate heat collecting plate, and the thermal contact between the unit cell and the heat collecting plate becomes insufficient. On the other hand, when the interval is small, it is difficult to work in a short time. In the battery pack of
In addition, battery packs attached to bicycles are limited in places where they can be attached. As a place that does not hinder the driver's pedal or steering wheel operation and does not adversely affect the running performance, the seat post is generally attached to the rear portion of the seat tube that connects the bottom bracket and the seat post. In order to attach a large battery pack with a large capacity to this part, it is necessary to increase the distance between the rear end to which the rear wheel is attached and the bottom bracket, but if this distance is increased, the wheelbase becomes longer and the vehicle is operated. It must be hard and large.
The present invention is capable of stably holding a battery having a large volume capacity density, such as a film-clad battery in which a lithium ion secondary battery is sealed with a film-like packaging material, by reducing vibrations and impacts received from a bicycle, The present invention provides a pack having a large capacity that can be mounted without changing the structure of the bicycle.

This invention solves the said subject, Comprising: Two battery connection structures which differ in the length of a mounting direction and the length of a mounting direction orthogonal to the mounting direction in which several flat battery was mounted. The battery pack is arranged so that the planes of the flat batteries are placed substantially orthogonal to each other.
The battery connection structure is integrally coupled to the first plate-like portion and both end portions in the width direction of the first plate-like portion, and is substantially perpendicular to both surfaces of the first plate-like portion. The battery pack includes a battery protection member having a second plate-like portion extending, and the flat battery is placed on the first plate-like portion.
In the present invention, the term “substantially vertical” includes a state in which vertical and a desired action and effect can be substantially obtained, and includes, for example, an angle of 80 ° to 100 °.
Further, in the battery pack, the mounting surface of the flat battery is formed on both surfaces of the first plate-like portion.
In the battery pack, a flat plate surface of the flat battery is placed on the first plate-like portion.
In the battery pack, the flat battery is a film-clad battery.
In the battery pack, a pull-out tab of the flat battery is taken out in a longitudinal direction of the first plate-like portion of the protection member.
In the battery pack, one adhesive surface of a double-sided adhesive tape is bonded to the flat battery, and the flat battery is bonded to the first plate-shaped portion or the adjacent flat battery surface.
The first battery connection structure in which the surface direction of the shortest interval of the substantially rectangular parallelepiped surrounding the battery connection structure is made to coincide with the traveling direction of the bicycle is disposed below the battery pack mounted on the back side of the seat tube, This is an electric bicycle in which another battery connection body is disposed above the first battery connection structure.
In the present invention, the substantially rectangular parallelepiped surrounding the battery connection structure means the smallest rectangular parallelepiped that can accommodate the battery connection structure.
According to the battery pack of the present invention, a plurality of flat batteries such as lithium ion batteries excellent in energy efficiency that are packaged on a film-shaped packaging material are placed on a battery protection member and electrically connected thereto. Since it is a battery pack in which two battery connection structures having different lengths in the battery mounting direction and in the orthogonal direction to the mounting direction are arranged so that the respective mounting direction surfaces are orthogonal to each other, By being orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the bicycle, even a large battery pack can be accommodated without increasing the wheel base of the bicycle.
In addition, the mounting direction is not affected by vibrations on the side of the bicycle, and the outer shape can be an irregular shape. A bicycle equipped with a large-capacity battery pack that cannot be provided can be provided.

Specifically, a member having strength and heat resistance such as nylon and polyethylene terephthalate is provided on the surface located on the outer surface side of the aluminum foil, and heat fusion property such as polypropylene and polyethylene is good on the inner surface side. Those obtained by laminating materials can be used.

In the next step shown in FIG. 9, the
The next step shown in FIG. 10 is an operation on the
In the subsequent process shown in FIG. 11, after a spacer (not shown) having a thickness equal to or larger than the thickness of the double-sided

In the next step shown in FIG. 13, the
