Description

The present invention relates to a male terminal.

FIG. 9A shows an external perspective view of the male terminal 100. As shown in FIG. 9A, the male terminal 100 is obtained by applying bending, drawing or the like to a thin metal plate punched into a developed shape. The male terminal 100 includes a contact portion 110 that is electrically and mechanically connected to a female terminal (not shown), a box portion 120 having a locking piece for locking to a housing, and a connection portion 130 for connecting to an electric wire. Is provided. The carrier 140 provided at the rear end of the connecting portion is a gripping portion necessary for handling in the manufacturing process and is removed from the finished product.

The contact part 110 is a rod-like shape that extends straight, and as shown in FIG. 9B, the contact part 110 is a molded body having a U-shaped cross section obtained by folding back a thin metal plate.

Recently, there is a demand for a structure that improves the strength of the contact portion while satisfying the performance of the wire connection portion. In other words, the plate thickness is to improve the strength of the contact portion to the required level while maintaining the current thickness substantially, but as shown in FIG. 10, the width dimension of the contact portion 210 having the width and thickness (drawing). Enlarging the left and right direction above) to about twice that of the prior art meets this requirement. The contact portion 210 includes a base portion 211 and a bent portion 212, and the bent portion 212 includes a thick side 213 and a wide side 214. At this time, in order to correct the bending of the bent portion 212 caused by the folding process and secure a flat surface, as shown in FIG. 11, a horizontal type movable in the horizontal direction in the direction indicated by the white arrow in the figure. Thus, a method of pressing is generally taken.
However, although this method corrects the bending, there arises a new problem that the free ends of the base portion 211 and the bending portion 212 that are deformable in the thickness direction fall down in the direction indicated by the black arrow in the figure. In order to prevent the free end from falling down, as shown in FIG. 12, there is a method in which a horizontal convex portion is fitted in the front end of both free ends during the correction pressing, and this fitting type prevents the falling by the correction pressing. It has been taken. However, with this method, the free end can be prevented from falling down, but a new problem arises that the center portion of the base portion 211 and the wide side 214 is depressed in the direction indicated by the black arrow in the figure.

As means for solving such a deformation that occurs during processing, techniques described in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 are known. As shown in FIG. 13, the technique described in Patent Document 1 is such that the side surface in the width direction of the base portion [substrate portion] 211 is between the base portion [substrate portion] 211 and the bent portion [folded overlapping plate portion] 212. The flatness and flatness of the base part [substrate part] 211 and the bending part [folded overlapping plate part] 212 are ensured by superimposing the [planar securing plate part] 215 extended from the base plate.

The technique described in Patent Document 2 is based on the technique described in Patent Document 1, in which the [plane securing plate portion] 215 is larger than the thickness of the base portion [substrate portion] 211 and the bent portion [folded overlapping plate portion] 212. It is characterized by being thinned. In addition, the expression in [] shows the thing of patent document 1.

特開2003−36911号公報JP 2003-36911 A 特開2003−157920号公報JP 2003-157920 A

However, according to the technique described in Patent Document 1, the free end of the base portion and the bent portion is not collapsed and the central portion is not depressed, but a plane is secured from the base portion 211 as shown in FIG. A deformation having a relatively large curvature is formed in a portion connected to the plate portion 215, and the flat region of the base portion 211 is relatively narrowed due to this deformation. Since the flat surface of the base portion is a region that contacts the contact piece of the corresponding female terminal, it is desirable that the flat surface be wide in the width direction. It leads to the problem that reliability is impaired. Furthermore, wrinkles generated by bending with a large curvature cause cracks in the plating layer, which may cause defects that impair durability such as corrosion and defects in the base metal. Note that the technique described in Patent Document 2 has the same problem because the basic configuration is the same as that described in Patent Document 1.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and does not cause the free end of the base and the bent part to fall down and the center part to collapse, and the relatively flat region is widened except for the deformation of the base and the bent part. It is an object of the present invention to provide a male terminal that can be secured and has improved connection reliability with a corresponding female terminal.

In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the present invention can improve the connection reliability of the contact portion even when the contact portion is reinforced and the width of the contact portion is increased. A flat area is ensured widely.

More specifically, the present invention provides the following.

The contact portion includes the base portion, a bent portion extending from one side surface in the width direction of the base portion and folded back so as to overlap the base portion, and the base portion and the bent portion. A flat pedestal portion sandwiched between the thickness portion and the bending portion, the thickness side rising vertically from the base portion, and one side surface of the thickness side that is parallel to the base portion and folded over the base portion. A wide side, and the base and the wide side are on one side. Towards the shared thickness side to the free end side of the other side it has the characteristics where the as possible extending flat.

In the male terminal of the present invention, the flat base portion is sandwiched between the base portion and the bent portion that extends and overlaps from one side surface in the width direction. The free end of the part and the wide side does not fall down and the central part does not collapse. In addition, the base and the wide side are parallel and extend flatly from the thickness side shared by one side to the free end of the other side, so the deformation area is removed and a relatively flat area is secured. Thus, the reliability of connection with the corresponding female terminal is improved.

Furthermore, since the bending with a large curvature that has occurred in the prior art is not formed in the base, the bent portion, and the pedestal portion, there is no occurrence of cracks in the plating layer, and the possibility of occurrence of corrosion of the base metal is removed. Since the male terminal of the present invention can change the plate thickness of the pedestal portion, the thickness and width of the contact portion can be adjusted by adjusting the thickness and width of the pedestal portion according to the required thickness and width of the contact portion. Respond quickly to requests. In addition, not only when the pedestal is prepared separately, but also when the pedestal is formed integrally with the main body, the thickness of the pedestal is reduced by pressing, or it is doubled and thickened. The thickness may be changed freely.

More preferably, (3) the male terminal of the present invention is characterized in that the end surface on the front side of the pedestal portion is within an imaginary line connecting the base portion and the end surface of the wide side (1) or ( 2) As described.

The male terminal of the present invention has an end face on the front side of the pedestal within the imaginary line connecting the base part and the end face of the wide side, so that when mating with the corresponding female terminal, it does not catch smoothly It can be inserted.

More preferably, (4) in the male terminal of the present invention, the pedestal portion is held between the base portion and the bent portion by a fixing means over the entire length where the base portion is sandwiched between the base portion and the bent portion. One of the items (1) to (3), which is characterized by being fixed.

As shown in FIG. 1, the contact portion 10 is connected to the other end in the axial direction of the box portion 20 with the base portion 11 in common. The contact portion 10 is where a corresponding contact piece of a female terminal (not shown) comes into contact. The contact portion 10 is a molded body having a square cross section having a clear width (left and right direction toward the paper surface in FIGS. 2 and 3) and thickness (up and down direction toward the paper surface in FIGS. 2 and 3). The width is larger than the thickness, and the strength of the contact portion 10 is improved. The tip has a tapered surface at the top and bottom, and the left and right sides are cut into a pointed shape to enable smooth insertion. The rear end is smoothly connected to the four surfaces constituting the cylindrical body of the box portion 20, and both connecting portions are skillfully connected by drawing so that both axial cores have a predetermined positional relationship.

As shown in FIGS. 1, 2, and 3, the contact portion 10 includes a base portion 11, a bending portion 12, and a pedestal portion 15. The base portion 11 is a flat plate-like body extending in the axial direction, and is a portion that comes into electrical mechanical contact with a contact piece of a corresponding female terminal (not shown). The bent portion 12 is a folded piece that extends from one side surface in the width direction of the base portion 11 and is folded so as to overlap the base portion 11. The bent portion 12 includes a wide side 14 that is parallel to the base portion 11 and extends in the width direction, and a thick side 13 that is perpendicular to the base portion 11 and extends in the thickness direction. The wide side 14 is a flat plate-like body that is parallel to the base portion 11 and is a portion that is in electrical mechanical contact with a contact piece of a corresponding female terminal (not shown). The thickness side 13 gives the contact portion 10 a clear thickness. The thick side 13 connects the base portion 11 and the wide side 14 in parallel, and forms a predetermined gap between the parallel surfaces. A plate-like pedestal 15 extending in the axial direction is sandwiched between the gaps.

As shown in FIG. 2, the II-II cross section of the contact portion in FIG. 1 includes a base portion 11 and a bent portion 12 that form a substantially U-shape, and a pedestal portion 15 sandwiched therebetween. The pedestal portion 15 is a flat plate-like body, the end surface on the closing side is positioned in front of the thickness side 13, and the end surface on the front end side is positioned in front of the imaginary line connecting the end surfaces of the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12. .

As shown in FIG. 2, the pedestal portion 15 is sandwiched between the base portion 11 and the bending portion 12 in the above-described state. This state is sequentially formed in the process from the unfolded thin plate to the finished product. The pedestal portion 15 is placed between the bent portion 12 and the base portion 11 so as to ensure a clear thickness.
Further, the pedestal portion 15 serves as a pedestal during processing, and effectively prevents the free end from falling down and the central portion from being depressed (see FIGS. 11 and 12), which have occurred in the prior art. In the present embodiment, the pedestal portion 15 is formed integrally with the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12 and has the same plate thickness. Of course, the thickness of the pedestal portion 15 can be changed to change the contact portion 10. The thickness may be changed to a desired thickness.

As shown in FIG. 2, the pedestal portion 15 has an end face on the closing side located in front of the thickness side 13 and an imaginary line in which the other end face on the front end side connects the end faces of the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12. Is also in front. As described above, the pedestal portion 15 is effectively prevented from being in a processing stage or a finished product state by being accommodated in the outline of the contact portion 10. That is, the end surface of the pedestal portion 15 on the closing side is positioned in front of the thickness side 13, so that the inner wall does not interfere with the pedestal portion 15 when the bent portion 12 is folded back, and the pedestal portion 15 on the frontage side. The other end surface of the base portion 15 is positioned in front of the imaginary line that connects the end surfaces of the base portion 11 and the wide side 14, so that the other end surface of the pedestal portion 15 can be integrated even when variations such as assembly accuracy are concentrated in a specific direction. The risk of running out of virtual lines is avoided.

As shown in FIG. 3, the III-III cross section of the contact portion in FIG. 1 includes a base portion 11 and a bending portion 12 that form a substantially U shape, and a pedestal portion 15 sandwiched therebetween. The pedestal portion 15 is a flat plate-like body, and one end surface on the closing side is positioned in front of the thickness side 13. The other end surface on the opening side extends to the frontage side and is located on an imaginary line that connects the end surfaces of the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12. As shown in FIG. 4, the pedestal portion 15 is connected to the base portion 11 via the connecting portion 16 on the side surface in the vicinity of the III-III cross section.
Further, the pedestal portion 15 is fixed by receiving strong pressure from the base portion 11 and the bending portion 12 over the entire length sandwiched between the base portion 11 and the bending portion 12. Strong pressurization is given by pressurizing the entire length of the pedestal portion 15 after the bent portion 12 is folded back to form a U-shaped cross section. Thus, since the base part 15 is pressure-fixed by the base part 11 and the bending part 12 over the full length, the possibility of dropping from the clamping part is avoided. Furthermore, the rear end of the pedestal portion 15 is surrounded by a wall in a state of extending into the cylinder on the box portion 20 side, so that the possibility of falling off is avoided in a double or triple manner.

[Molding method]
A method for forming the contact portion will be described with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5. FIG. 4 is a development view of the male terminal of the present embodiment. FIG. 5 is a process diagram sequentially illustrating the forming process of the contact portion of the present embodiment. As shown in FIG. 4, the narrow connecting portion 16 extends from the rear end of one side surface in the width direction of the planned portion in which the base portion 11 is formed in a developed shape obtained by punching out a metal thin plate with a mold. The front end of the connecting portion 16 is connected to the rear end of the side surface of the portion that forms the pedestal portion 15. A planned portion for forming the bent portion 12 extends on the other side in the width direction of the planned portion for forming the base portion 11 in the developed shape. The planned part for forming the base part 11 is shared, and the planned part for forming the box part 20 and the planned part for forming the connection part 30 are connected in the axial direction. The rear end is continuous with the carrier 40. The carrier 40 is a gripping part necessary for handling the manufacturing process and is removed from the finished product. Since the planned portion to be the pedestal portion 15 is formed integrally with the main body (the planned portion to be the male terminal 1) at the connecting portion 16, and is placed in a parallel position with a small amount of overhang, and is held between the pitches. There is no increase in material cost due to the provision of the pedestal portion 15, but rather an improvement in material yield is achieved.

接触部10の成形工程は、図5に示されるように、繋ぎ部16を中央で折り返し、台座部15を形成する予定部の表面が基底部11を形成する予定部の表面に重ね合わされる第1工程、重ね合わされた台座部15を形成する予定部の裏面に曲げ部12を形成する予定部を重ね合わせる第2工程、余分になった繋ぎ部16を切り離す第3工程、及び曲げ部12の形成で生じた変形を矯正し平坦にする第4工程を有している。 As shown in FIG. 5, the contact portion 10 is formed by folding the connecting portion 16 in the center, and the surface of the planned portion forming the base portion 15 is overlapped with the surface of the planned portion forming the base portion 11. One step, a second step of superimposing the planned portion for forming the bent portion 12 on the back surface of the planned portion for forming the overlapped pedestal portion 15, a third step for separating the excess connecting portion 16, and the bending portion 12 A fourth step of correcting and flattening the deformation caused by the formation;

In the first step, the planned portion that becomes the pedestal portion 15 is superimposed on the surface of the planned portion that becomes the base portion 11 via the connecting portion 16. The connecting portion 16 extends from a part of the rear side surface of the planned portion forming the base portion 11, and the folded portion is a location away from the side surface of the planned portion forming the base portion 11. As a result, neither the base portion 11 nor the pedestal portion 15 is affected by deformation or the like due to the folding. That is, the pedestal 15 is superimposed on the surface of the base 11 without difficulty and flatly.

In the second step, the planned portion that forms the bent portion 12 is folded back, and the planned portion that forms the pedestal portion 15 is sandwiched between the planned portion that forms the base portion 11. At this time, pressurization is applied in the direction of sandwiching the pedestal portion 15 (up and down direction on the paper surface). Since the pressure is applied while sandwiching the flat pedestal portion 15, the pressure surfaces of the pressed base portion 11 and the bent portion 12 are flattened, and the base portion 11 and the wide side 14 are formed in parallel. The At this time, bending by folding is formed on the thickness side 13. In addition, the pressurization for fixing the base part 15 is performed after this.

In the third step, the connecting portion 16 folded back in the first step is separated from the side of the planned portion that forms the base portion 11 and the planned portion that forms the pedestal portion 15. The necessary separation region is a narrow range of a part of the side surface and does not require a large pressure. The cut surface is sharp and cut almost vertically.

In the fourth step, the bending of the thickness side 13 formed in the second step is corrected. The correction method is press molding. Surfaces other than the pressing surface are held by a mold and press the thickness side 13 from the lateral direction. The thickness side becomes flat by pressurization. At this time, the fall of the free end and the depression of the central portion, which have occurred in the prior art, do not occur because the base portion 15 is placed between the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12.

The contact portion 10 thus molded does not cause the free ends of the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12 to fall down and the center portion does not collapse, and the deformation of the base portion 11 and the bent portion 12 is eliminated and the contact portion 10 is relatively flat. The area is secured extensively. As a result, the connection reliability with the corresponding female terminal is improved. Furthermore, the problem that a defect that impairs durability, such as corrosion and defects, occurs in the base metal due to generation of cracks in the plating layer due to bending with a large curvature has been solved by separating the deformed portion.

The connecting portion connects the planned portion that forms the contact portion of the unfolded male terminal and the planned portion that forms the pedestal portion. The connecting portion is an unnecessary portion for the finished product, and is finally separated from the main body. Thus, the idea of the connecting portion that is finally cut off from the main body was the beginning of the present invention. It is desired that the flat area of the portion that is electrically and mechanically connected to the female terminal is wide from the viewpoint of ensuring the reliability. In order to realize this desirable state, a member that is separated from the main body is prepared, and defects that occur at the time of processing are gathered there, so that it is possible to separate any parts that may cause defects in the future from the product.
