Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a "cut" due to caulking from occurring in a waterproof rubber plug.SOLUTION: The waterproof rubber plug 1 has a wire caulking portion 10 which is caulked to a wire 2 by an insulation barrel 7. A plurality of projection pieces 14 are projecting radially outward from the outer peripheral surface of the wire caulking portion 10 at equal angular intervals. The projection pieces 14 have good flexibility and collapse in the caulking direction when the insulation barrel 7 is caulked, and interposed between the insulation barrel 7 and a cylindrical body 13. Since occurrence of a "cut" in the wire caulking portion 10 is avoided effectively, holding force for the waterproof rubber plug 1 can be enhanced.

Description

The present invention relates to a waterproof rubber stopper.

In a waterproof connector, as a method for sealing between an electric wire and a housing, a type in which a waterproof rubber plug is individually attached to each electric wire and a seal is provided for each electric wire is well known. Examples of such a waterproof rubber plug include those disclosed in Patent Document 1 below. The waterproof rubber plug disclosed herein is provided with an electric wire crimping portion for attachment to a terminal fitting at a front end portion. The waterproof rubber plug is fixed to the electric wire by caulking the electric wire caulking portion with the insulation barrel of the terminal fitting in a state where the electric wire is inserted.

However, if the caulking portion of the electric wire is caulked by the caulking piece of the insulation barrel, there is a possibility that the meat of the waterproof rubber plug may rise locally between the caulking pieces. In such a place, there is a concern about “cutting” due to stress concentration. Appropriate countermeasures have been desired because the occurrence of “cut” results in a decrease in the holding force against the rubber plug.

The present invention has been completed based on the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a waterproof rubber plug that is protected from damage such as breakage even if it is caulked by a terminal fitting.

As means for achieving the above object, the invention of claim 1 is a waterproof rubber plug in which the wire insertion hole penetrates along the shaft core and is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape, and has one end in the length direction. A wire crimping portion formed on the side and crimped to the end portion of the wire by the insulation barrel of the terminal fitting, and formed continuously from the wire crimping portion in the length direction, with a lip projecting along the circumferential direction on the outer peripheral surface. A formed seal lip portion;
The outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking portion is characterized in that an inclusion interposed between the insulation barrel and the insulation barrel when caulking by the insulation barrel is provided.

A second aspect of the invention is characterized in that, in the first aspect of the invention, the inclusion is a projecting piece integrally formed on the outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking portion.

According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect of the present invention, the projecting pieces are provided at a plurality of locations on the outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking portion corresponding to the two caulking pieces of the insulation barrel. In the natural state, the piece protrudes radially from the outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking portion, collapses in the caulking direction as it is caulked by the two caulking pieces, and is caulked along the outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking portion. It is characterized by where it is.

According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the invention according to the third aspect, the two caulking pieces of the insulation barrel are arranged with a phase shifted in the length direction, and the protruding piece is at a central portion in the length direction. When the slit is cut along the radial direction from the tip, when the caulking pieces are caulked, the direction in which the projecting pieces are tilted opposite to each other with the slit interposed therebetween is reversed. It has the characteristics.

<Invention of Claim 1>
According to the first aspect of the present invention, when the electric wire caulking portion is caulked to the end portion of the electric wire by the insulation barrel, the caulking force does not directly act on the outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking portion, but indirectly through the inclusions. Therefore, the wire crimping portion can be protected from damage such as “cut”.

<Invention of Claim 2>
According to the invention of claim 2, since the inclusion is formed integrally with the waterproof rubber stopper, the number of parts is not increased, and the handling of parts is excellent.

<Invention of Claim 3>
According to the invention of claim 3, since the projecting piece is provided corresponding to both the caulking pieces of the insulation barrel and caulked along the outer peripheral surface of the electric wire caulking part, the projecting piece is caulked in the length direction of the caulking piece. Can intervene along. Therefore, the electric wire caulking portion can be reliably protected.

<Invention of Claim 4>
According to the invention of claim 4, the caulking direction of both the caulking pieces in the insulation barrel is opposite to each other, and by cutting the slit into the projecting piece, the projecting piece sandwiched the slit during caulking. Can fall in opposite directions on both sides. Therefore, the projecting piece can perform a smooth collapse operation without causing twisting.

<Embodiment 1>
Embodiment 1 of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIGS. The waterproof rubber plug 1 according to the present embodiment is inserted into the electric wire 2 and is fixed to the electric wire 2 by being crimped by the insulation barrel 7 of the terminal fitting 3 (female terminal fitting in this embodiment) at the terminal portion of the electric wire 2. Has been made.

As shown in FIG. 3, the terminal fitting 3 is integrally formed of a thin conductive metal material. The whole is provided with a terminal connection part 4 provided at the front part for connection with a mating terminal metal fitting (male terminal metal fitting), and a barrel part provided at the rear part for connection with the electric wire 2 and fixing of the waterproof rubber plug 1. 5. The barrel portion 5 is further divided into a front wire barrel 6 and a rear insulation barrel 7.

The wire barrel 6 is caulked with respect to the wire core wire 8 and is electrically connected to the wire 2. The insulation barrel 7 is composed of a pair of caulking pieces 7A and 7B. Both the caulking pieces 7A and 7B are formed so as to protrude from both side edges in the width direction of the bottom surface of the terminal fitting 3, and are arranged so as to be out of phase with respect to the front-rear direction as shown in FIG. Hereinafter, the caulking piece on the side close to the wire barrel 6 is referred to as a front caulking piece 7A, and the caulking piece on the far side is referred to as a rear caulking piece 7B.

When the waterproof rubber plug 1 is caulked, the two caulking pieces 7A and 7B have a length range in which the tips of the caulking pieces 7A and 7B are slightly less than a half circumference in the circumferential direction when the waterproof rubber plug 1 is viewed from the axial direction. It is formed with such a length.

The waterproof rubber plug 1 is integrally and cylindrically formed by a rubber material having good elasticity. An electric wire insertion hole 9 is formed through the shaft core. The electric wire insertion hole 9 has a hole diameter through which the electric wire 2 can be inserted, and the electric wire can be sealed. The waterproof rubber plug 1 is formed of a wire caulking portion 10 disposed on the front side with respect to the length direction and a seal lip portion 11 disposed on the rear side. Two lips 12 project from the outer peripheral surface of the seal lip portion 11, and are formed over the entire outer periphery of the seal lip portion 11.

As shown in FIG. 2, the electric wire crimping part 10 has the cylindrical main-body part 13 formed in the cylindrical shape. Projecting pieces 14 (inclusions) are arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body 13 at intervals of about 90 degrees. Each protruding piece 14 protrudes radially outward from the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body 13, and in the illustrated one, the protruding piece 14 is formed so as to gradually taper from the base portion toward the tip. As shown in FIG. 1, each projecting piece 14 has a slit cut at a substantially central portion in the length direction (axial direction). This slit is provided over the entire height range from the tip edge of the projecting piece 14 to the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body 13 along the radial direction. Thus, each projecting piece 14 is divided into a front projecting piece portion 14A and a rear projecting piece portion 14B, and each of them can independently be deformed in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction with respect to the circumferential direction. Is possible.

The front projecting piece portion 14A is formed so that the front end edge thereof is aligned with the front end edge of the electric wire caulking portion 10, and the front projecting piece portion 14A and the rear projecting piece portion 14B are both front caulking pieces of the insulation barrel 7. 7A and the rear caulking piece 7B are formed so as to correspond to the width direction in the front-rear direction of each of the caulking pieces 7A and 7B. .

Both the front projecting piece 14A and the rear projecting piece 14B have good flexibility, and when they are caulked by the two caulking pieces 7A and 7B of the insulation barrel 7, the caulking pieces fall in a direction along the caulking direction. In a state of being bent and deformed, it is almost in close contact along the circumferential direction over the entire length range from the root to the tip along the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body 13.

However, as shown in FIG. 2, the length of the protruding piece 14 in the radial direction is formed to be higher than the height of the outer peripheral edge of both lips 12 of the seal lip portion 11. However, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, even when the caulking pieces 7A and 7B are caulked and the adjacent projecting pieces 14 in the circumferential direction fall down toward each other, they are adjacent in the circumferential direction. The tips of 14 do not interfere with each other.

Next, the effect of this embodiment comprised as mentioned above is demonstrated concretely. The work of attaching the waterproof rubber plug 1 to the electric wire 2 is performed as follows.

First, the electric wire 2 is passed through the electric wire insertion hole 9 of the waterproof rubber plug 1, and the waterproof rubber plug 1 is positioned at the terminal portion of the electric wire 2. And the electric wire crimping part 10 and the electric wire core wire 8 of the waterproof rubber plug 1 are located on the bottom face of the barrel part in the unfolded state. In that case, the electric wire core wire 8 is made to correspond to the wire barrel 6, and the electric wire caulking portion 10 is located to correspond to the insulation barrel 7. At that time, when the two projecting pieces 14 adjacent in the circumferential direction with respect to the bottom surface of the insulation barrel 7 are positioned so as to be substantially symmetrical, these projecting pieces 14 are mutually connected by the weight of the electric wire 2 and the waterproof rubber plug 1. It bends and deforms so as to fall in the opposite direction (direction in which the legs are opened).

In this state, the wire barrel 6 is caulked to the electric wire core wire 8 by a caulking machine, while the insulation barrel 7 is caulked with respect to the electric wire caulking portion 10 by the same caulking machine or different caulking machines. When the insulation barrel 7 is caulked, as shown in FIG. 5, the two projecting pieces 14 located on the bottom surface side of the barrel portion are in close contact with each other along the bottom surface of the barrel portion while facing opposite directions. .

FIG. 5 shows the caulking state of the front projecting piece 14A by the front caulking piece 7A. According to this, since the caulking direction of the front caulking piece 7A is counterclockwise in the figure, the two front projecting piece parts 14A adjacent to the circumferential direction corresponding to the front caulking piece 7A are both tilted counterclockwise in the figure. It is bent and deformed so that it is in contact with and caulked in close contact with both the inner peripheral surface of the front caulking piece 7 </ b> A and the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body 13.

FIG. 6 shows the caulking state of the rear protruding piece 14B by the rear caulking piece 7B. According to this, since the caulking direction of the rear caulking piece 7B is the clockwise direction in the figure, the two rear projecting piece parts 14B adjacent to the circumferential direction corresponding to the rear caulking piece are both bent and deformed so as to fall down in the clockwise direction in the figure. Then, it is caulked in close contact with both the inner peripheral surface of the rear caulking piece 7B and the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body 13.

When the caulking is completed in this way, the front side or rear side projecting piece part 14B is interposed between the entire area of the inner surface of both the caulking pieces 7A and 7B and the cylindrical main body part 13. Therefore, the caulking force from both the caulking pieces 7A and 7B does not directly act on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical main body portion 13.

Further, conventionally, a rise of the meat of the cylindrical main body portion 13 occurs between the both caulking pieces 7A and 7B, and a situation occurs in which stress concentrates on the raised portion. On the other hand, according to the present embodiment, the caulking force concentration points are dispersed in a plurality of places (both caulking pieces 7A and 7B), and therefore the problem of the breakage of the electric wire caulking portion 10 can be effectively solved from this point. Can do. Even if the caulking piece is “cut”, it is avoided that the influence reaches the cylindrical main body 13.

Further, as described above, in response to the fact that the caulking directions of both the front and rear caulking pieces 7A and 7B are opposite directions, the projecting piece 14 is connected to the front projecting piece 14A and the rear projecting piece 14B. Since it is divided, the projecting piece 14 is not twisted with caulking.
