前記短繊維において、繊維径が細すぎるとフィンのサイズが小さくなり、スパイラル捲縮が発現しにくくなる。一方、繊維径が太すぎると、単繊維当たりの自重によりスパイラル捲縮が発現しにくくなる。このため、捲縮を付与する点では、繊維径が10〜200μmの範囲が可能であるが、より捲縮を発現させるためには15〜95μmの範囲がより好ましい。 In the short fiber, if the fiber diameter is too thin, the fin size is reduced, and spiral crimps are hardly exhibited. 本発明における繊維充填率は30〜80%である事が好ましく、40〜60%である事が更に好ましい。30%未満では、繊維としては高空隙を有しているものの、不織布製造工程通過時に断面潰れ等が生じる為、好ましくない。一方、80%を越えると、改善効果が小さい繊維構造体しか得られない為、好ましくない。なお繊維充填率は下記式で表される。
