前記で得られた転写テープ原反について、幅5mmにスリットしながら6mの長さをコアに巻き取りパンケーキ状のサンプルとした。前記パンケーキサンプルを市販の転写ヘッドと本体が一体成形されたジレット製の塗膜転写具に装填し、比較例1の塗膜転写具を得た。この塗膜転写具の転写ヘッド及び本体のケース、カバーの成形材料は、HIPSである。ジレット製塗膜転写具の基材テープが走行しないところの転写ヘッドのサイド部分の左右のそれぞれの長さは、0.2mmである。

比較例1のパンケーキを収納する前の転写具を用いて、図2で表したように転写ヘッドのサイド部分のそれぞれの長さが3.5mmに改造した試作転写具を用意した。転写ヘッドの材質は、ABSとした。試作転写具に比較例1と同様に同じパンケーキを収納して塗膜転写具を得た。

評価方法
実施例1〜3、比較例1の塗膜転写具を使って、平成22年発行の特許公報に記載された請求項の箇所で、1行40文字の10行分に対して、塗膜を連続転写させて転写された塗膜の蛇行を確認した。
