図1は上記位置決め動作を説明する図で、印刷機やシートフィーダーなどの前工程からワーク1が1枚ずつニップロール3で位置決め装置部へ搬送されてくる。位置決め装置部まで搬送されてきたワーク1はそれまでの搬送速度、1000〜1500mm/秒、で位置決め装置のステンレススチールまたはアルミニウム製テーブル7上を慣性力で摺動し突き当て部材2に衝突して停止する。停止したワーク1は突き当て部材2によって良好な場合は±1mm程度の位置精度で位置決めされており、その位置を保存したまま送り爪4で次工程の方向へ送り出され下流側のニップロール3で位置決め精度を保持したまま搬送されて行く。
