Description

The present invention relates to a video display device such as a plasma display device, and more particularly to a video display device that prevents panel cracking due to an impact such as dropping, and a method for carrying the same.

FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view of a general plasma display device, and FIG. 12 is a partially enlarged view of FIG. 11, showing the display panel 101 in detail. The display panel 101 includes a front panel 102, a back panel 104, and a sealing member 103. The front panel 102 and the back panel 104 are bonded by a sealing member 103 disposed at an edge portion of each main surface, and are separated by the thickness of the sealing member 103. The metal chassis 105 is made of aluminum or the like that has good mechanical rigidity and thermal conductivity. The metal chassis 105 has a back surface bonded to the front panel 102 bonded to the front panel 102 in a planar shape via a double-sided tape (not shown) having high thermal conductivity. The metal chassis 105 is fixed inside the housing 108 via an attachment member 107. Light emitted from the display panel 101 is transmitted through a front protective panel 109 made of tempered glass or the like attached to the inside of the front opening 110 of the housing 108 and output. In the gap between the front protective panel 109 and the display panel 101, a sponge 106 for dust prevention is disposed.

In the plasma display device having such a configuration, panel breakage (panel cracking) may occur particularly due to an impact such as dropping during transportation. Panel cracks are likely to occur when the front protective panel 109 falls on the bottom surface. FIG. 13 is a partial cross-sectional view of the plasma display device when the front protective panel 109 is vertically downward and a drop impact occurs. The metal chassis 105 is bent, and the front panel 102 and the rear panel 104 are bent accordingly. When the front panel 102 is bent, a panel crack 111 occurs in the front panel 102. In particular, as shown in FIG. 13, the panel crack 111 often starts near the inner end of the sealing member 103 in the front panel 102.

An image display device that prevents this panel breakage has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1). 14 and 15 are cross-sectional views showing the configuration of the video display device that can prevent panel cracking. In addition, about the component similar to FIG. 11, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected and description is abbreviate | omitted. The elastic support member 121 supports the front protective panel 109 so as to be movable back and forth. In FIG. 14, the front protective panel 109 is pressed by the protective member 122 and is in contact with the display panel 101. For this reason, the display panel 101 becomes difficult to bend when dropped. As shown in FIG. 15, when the filter protection member 122 is removed, the front protection panel 109 is returned to a predetermined position by the elastic support member 121.
JP 2002-132171 A

However, in the video display device having the above configuration, since the protective member 122 is directly pressed against the front protective panel 109, there is a problem in that the entire protective panel 109 and the display panel 101 are damaged due to vibration during transportation. .

The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a video display device that prevents panel breakage due to impact such as dropping in a video display device such as a plasma display device, and a method for carrying the same. And

A first image display device of the present invention has a front panel and a back panel, and a display in which an outer edge is bonded by a sealing member in a state where a main surface of the front panel and a main surface of the back panel are opposed to each other. A panel, a metal chassis that is planarly bonded to the back surface of the surface of the back panel that is bonded to the front panel, a housing that contains the display panel and the metal chassis, and the display that is formed on the housing. An opening that defines an effective area of the panel; a front protective panel disposed in the housing so as to cover the opening; a telescopic member disposed between the front protective panel and the front panel; An attachment member for attaching the metal chassis to the housing. In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, a switching member capable of expanding and contracting the expansion and contraction member is provided, and the switching member extends and contracts between the front protective panel and the display panel by extending the expansion and contraction member It is possible to switch between two states: a state and a compressed state in which the elastic member is compressed and separated from the front protective panel.

A second video display device according to the present invention has a front panel and a back panel, and the outer edge is bonded by a sealing member in a state where the main surface of the front panel and the main surface of the back panel are opposed to each other. A panel, a metal chassis that is planarly bonded to the back surface of the surface of the back panel that is bonded to the front panel, a housing that contains the display panel and the metal chassis, and the display that is formed on the housing. An opening that defines an effective area of the panel; a telescopic member disposed between the casing around the opening and the front panel; and a mounting member that attaches the metal chassis to the casing.

A method for transporting a video display device according to the present invention is a method for transporting the video display device described above, wherein the telescopic member is in the compressed state during transportation and storage, and the telescopic member is in the expanded state during use. To.

According to the present invention, in an image display device such as a plasma display device, an image display device that prevents panel cracking due to an impact such as dropping by compressing an elastic member between the display panel and a protective panel, and a method for carrying the same are provided. can do.

The video display device of the present invention can take various modes based on the above-described configuration.

In other words, the projecting portion of the inner end portion of the sealing member onto the front panel may be positioned in a region in contact with the elastic member of the front panel. With this configuration, when the elastic member is in a compressed state, it is possible to disperse the force applied to the vicinity of the inner end of the sealing member that is likely to cause panel cracking of the front panel. For this reason, panel cracking can be prevented.

Further, the switching member may have a plate-like member bonded to the elastic member. With this configuration, the elastic member can be uniformly compressed, and the force applied to the vicinity of the inner end can be evenly distributed.

In addition, the switching member includes a plurality of ribs and a fixing member that fixes the ribs disposed on the housing, and the fixing member causes at least one of the extended state and the compressed state of the elastic member. One state can be fixed. Further, the switching member includes an elastic body, and the elastic body is configured such that, in a state where the fixing member does not fix the rib, the elastic member is moved by the fixing member among the extended state and the compressed state. You may make it the structure fixed to the state of the side which is not fixed. With this configuration, it is possible to easily maintain the state (expanded state, compressed state) of the elastic member.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
(Embodiment)
FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a configuration of a video display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. In the present embodiment, a plasma display device will be described as an example of a video display device. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line AA in FIG. 1 (illustration of the pedestal is omitted). 3 and 4 are enlarged views of the end portion of the display panel 1 in FIG. 2. FIG. 3 shows a state where the elastic member 10 is compressed, and FIG. 4 shows a state where the elastic member 10 is extended. In FIG. 2, the detailed configuration of the display panel 1 is not shown. In FIG. 2, the left side is referred to as the front and the right side is referred to as the rear.

As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, in the video display device according to the present embodiment, a metal chassis 5 to which the display panel 1 is bonded is fixed to a housing 7 via an attachment member 6. Further, the elastic member 10 disposed between the display panel 1 and the front protective panel 8 is compressed and expanded by the switching member 11. Hereinafter, the configuration of the video display apparatus according to the present embodiment will be described in detail.

First, as shown in FIG. 3, a state where the elastic member 10 is compressed will be described. The display panel 1 includes a front panel 2, a back panel 4, and a sealing member 3. The front panel 2 and the back panel 4 are bonded via a sealing member 3 disposed at the edge of each main surface, and are separated by the height of the sealing member 3. As the front panel 2 and the back panel 4, a glass substrate or the like is used. A rare gas such as Ne or Xe is injected into a sealed space formed by the sealing member 3 between the front panel 2 and the back panel 4. When an electric field is applied to the sealed space, light is emitted. If a panel crack occurs in the front panel 2, noble gas escapes from the sealed space, or when the sealed space is decompressed, air enters the sealed space and the display panel 1 does not emit light.

The back surface of the back panel 4 that is bonded to the front panel 2 is bonded to the metal chassis 5 in a planar shape by a double-sided tape (not shown) having high thermal conductivity. The metal chassis 5 is formed of aluminum or the like that has good mechanical rigidity and thermal conductivity. An electric circuit board (not shown) on which a semiconductor chip for controlling the display panel 1 is mounted is attached to the back surface of the joint surface of the metal chassis 5 with the display panel 1. The metal chassis 5 is fixed to the housing 7 via an attachment member 6.

The housing 7 includes a front housing 7a disposed in front of the display panel 1 in parallel with the display panel 1, a rear housing 7c disposed behind the display panel 1, a front housing 7a, and a rear housing. And a side casing 7b that couples to 7c. An opening 9 is formed in the front casing 7a so that light emitted from an effective area (area for configuring an image) of the display panel 1 is transmitted. The front protective panel 8 is formed of tempered glass, plastic, or the like, and is disposed so as to close the opening 9 inside the front casing 7a.

The elastic member 10 is disposed between the front protective panel 8 and the front surface of the display panel 1. The stretchable member 10 only needs to be stretchable. For example, urethane, silicon rubber, or sponge can be used. In particular, a breathable material such as a sponge is preferred. If the stretchable member 10 has air permeability, even if the temperature of the space between the front protective panel 8 and the display panel 1 rises and the air expands, the expanded air can escape from the space. For this reason, the display panel 1 is not bent due to an increase in atmospheric pressure.

Even when the display panel 1 is bent due to thermal deformation or dropping of the video display device due to the space between the front protective panel 8 and the display panel 1, the display panel 1 and the front protective panel 8 do not come into contact with each other. The display panel 1 is not scratched. This space can also prevent EMI (electromagnetic interference).

The end face of the expansion member 10 on the front protective panel 8 side is bonded to the switching member 11. FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing the configuration of the switching member 11. The switching member 11 extends in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the plate-like member 12 at the four corners of the plate-like member 12 having a flat plate-like member 12 having openings formed according to the effective area of the display panel 1. And ribs 13. As shown in FIG. 3, the rib 13 protrudes from the hole 15 provided in the back casing 7c, and a thread (not shown) is formed in the protruding portion. The portion of the rib 13 where the screw thread is formed is fixed to the rear housing 7c by a fixing member 14 formed of a nut. The expansion / contraction member 10 is disposed on the inner side of the plate-like member plane of the plate-like member 12. By operating the rib 13, the plate-like member 12 can expand and contract the elastic member 10.

FIG. 6 is a plan view seen from the front side of the front panel 2. The sealing member region 31 is a projection region (a region between the broken line 32 and the solid line) on the front side of the front panel 2 in a region where the sealing member 3 is disposed on the back surface of the front panel 2. The sealing member region inner end 32 is the position of the inner end of the sealing member region 31. The elastic member region 33 is a region where the elastic member 10 is disposed (a region between the inner broken line and the solid line). As shown in FIG. 6, the sealing member region inner end 32 is located in the elastic member region 33.

In FIG. 3, the telescopic member 10 is compressed by the switching member 11. When the expansion member 10 is compressed beyond the proportional limit, the elastic modulus increases. In this state, when a drop impact is applied to the video display device, the front panel 2 bends. When the front panel 2 is bent, a force is applied in the vicinity of the sealing member region inner end portion 32 (see FIG. 6) of the front panel 2. However, the expansion / contraction member 10 having a higher elastic coefficient is located in the vicinity of the sealing member region inner end 32, so that the amount of bending is reduced and the force applied to the sealing member region inner end 32 is expanded and contracted. Dispersed in the member region 33. Thereby, the panel crack in the sealing member area | region inner edge part 32 vicinity can be prevented.

Next, as shown in FIG. 4, a state in which the elastic member 10 is extended will be described. The fixing member 14 is removed from the rib 13 from the state of FIG. 3 and the rib 13 is pushed into the housing 7 (in the direction of arrow A), so that the plate-like member 12 comes into contact with the front protective panel 8 and the telescopic member 10 Stretched. By extending the elastic member 10, the space between the display panel 1 and the front protective panel 8 is sealed. For this reason, it is possible to prevent dust from entering the space.

Therefore, when the video display device is transported and stored, the expansion / contraction member 10 is compressed, and the expansion / contraction member 10 is extended when in use, thereby preventing panel breakage at the time of dropping, and preventing the display panel 1 and the front protection panel 8 from moving. Both effects of preventing dust from entering the space between them can be obtained.

Next, a mechanism for expanding and contracting the elastic member 10 will be described in detail. As described above, the telescopic member 10 is switched from the compressed state to the expanded state when the operator pushes the rib 13 of the portion protruding from the housing 7 into the housing 7. In order to improve the appearance of the housing 7, a lid that closes the hole 15 for the rib 13 formed in the back housing 7 c to protrude may be provided. With this configuration, the plasma display device can be changed to a state in which the plasma display device is used (the elastic member 10 is in the compressed state) (the elastic member 10 is in the extended state).

In addition, you may arrange | position a spring between the plate-shaped member 12 and the front housing | casing 7a. When the natural length of the spring is made shorter than the length of the plate-like member 12 and the front case 7a when the elastic member 10 is in the extended state, the rib 13 is brought into the case 7 by removing the fixing member 14 from the rib 13. The extension member 10 enters the extended state.

Further, the natural length of the spring may be longer than the length of the plate-like member 12 and the front casing 7a when the elastic member 10 is in the extended state. In this case, if no force is applied to the rib 13, the elastic member 10 is compressed due to the stress of the spring. By providing a protrusion on the lid that closes the hole 15 and inserting the protrusion into the hole 15, the rib 13 can be pushed into the housing 14 and the elastic member 10 can be in an extended state. When the lid is removed, the elastic member 10 can be compressed by the spring stress.

FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view showing the configuration of the back casing 7 c and the lid 18. The lid 18 has a lid convex portion 19 and a lid concave portion 20. Moreover, the housing | casing recessed part 21 is formed in the back housing | casing 7c. As shown in FIG. 7A, the lid body 18 is arranged on the rear housing 7c so that the hole 15 and the lid body recess 20 are aligned. At this time, the lid convex portion 19 is fitted into the housing concave portion 21. In this state, the rib 13 reaches the lid recess 20 and the elastic member 10 is in a compressed state.

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 7B, the lid body 18 is arranged so that the lid convex portion 19 is fitted in the hole portion 15. At this time, the housing recess 21 and the lid recess 20 are arranged on a straight line. In this state, the rib 13 is pushed in by the cover convex part 19, and the expansion-contraction member 10 will be in an expansion | extension state.

With this configuration, by changing the position of the lid 18, the elastic member 10 can be easily switched between the expanded state and the compressed state. Therefore, after the plasma display device is used (the expansion / contraction member 10 is in the extended state), the expansion / contraction member 10 can be compressed even if the plasma display device needs to be transported due to a failure or the like. Furthermore, since only the position of the lid 18 is changed, the appearance is not impaired.

The switching mechanism of the elastic member 10 has various modes other than the above mode. 8 and 9 are cross-sectional views of the plasma display device showing other configurations of the switching member 11. As shown in FIG. 8, a switching member 11b in which a plate-like member 12b and a rib 13b are formed in an L shape is disposed. The elastic member 10 is attached to the plate-like member 12b. The rib 13b is fixed to the housing 7 with a screw 16 penetrating through a hole 15b provided in the side housing 7b. A spring 17 is disposed between the front housing 7a and the side of the switching member 11b to which the L-shaped elastic member 10 is attached. In this state, the elastic member 10 is in a compressed state.

As shown in FIG. 9, when the screw 16 is removed from the state shown in FIG. 8, the stress of the spring 17 moves the switching member 11b toward the front housing 7a (in the direction of arrow B) until it contacts the front protective panel 8. With the movement of the switching member 11b, the elastic member 10 is extended to seal the space between the front protective panel 8 and the display panel 1.

The switching mechanism for the telescopic member 10 having the side casing 7b shown in FIG. 10 is a modification of the configuration shown in FIG. FIG. 10 is a plan view seen from the direction of arrow C in FIG. In the switching mechanism shown in FIG. 10, the hole 15b shown in FIG. 8 is a long hole 15c that is a long hole. Other configurations are similar to the mechanism shown in FIG. In this mechanism, the position of the switching member 11b can be fixed by tightening the screw 16, and the state of the elastic member 10 can be maintained. Further, by loosening the screw 16, the switching member 11b (see FIG. 9) can be moved, and the state of the telescopic member 10 (see FIG. 9) can be changed.

As described above, in the video display device according to the present embodiment, the elastic member is compressed to prevent panel breakage due to impact during transportation, and the elastic member is extended to be used in the extended state during use. It is possible to prevent dust from entering between.

In addition, although the video display apparatus provided with the front protective panel in the opening has been described as an example of the present embodiment, the front protective panel is not necessarily required. For example, there is no front protective panel, and the switching member 11 can be arranged between the front casing 7a around the opening 9 and the telescopic member 10. Even in this configuration, panel breakage can be prevented during transportation, and dust can be prevented from entering between the housing 7 and the display panel 1 during use. Furthermore, the video display device can be formed thin.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY The present invention can prevent a panel from being broken due to a drop or the like during transportation, and can be used as a video display device such as a plasma display device.
