前記画像のうち、前記第1の被写体検出手段が前記予め定めた被写体の検出を行う画像の間に連続して撮像された複数の画像に対し、前記第1の被写体検出手段で検出された前記被写体の領域の動きを順次検出することにより、前記被写体を検出する第2の被写体検出手段と、
前記画像に適用されるゲイン調整量もしくは前記画像を撮像する際の撮像素子の露光時間の少なくとも一方について、予め定めた条件を満たすか判別する判別手段と、
前記取得手段が取得した画像における、前記予め定めた被写体の領域を決定する決定手段とを有し、
前記決定手段が、
前記判別手段により、前記予め定めた条件を満たすと判別されている場合には前記予め定めた被写体の領域を前記第1の被写体検出手段による被写体検出結果のみに基づいて決定し、
前記判別手段により、前記予め定めた条件を満たすと判別されていない場合には前記予め定めた被写体の領域を前記第1の被写体検出手段及び前記第2の被写体検出手段による被写体検出結果に基づいて決定し、
