(ロ)フィルムを閉じる場合には、中央部の巻き取り用の棒2を回転させることにより、棒2の左右のフィルムが同時に巻き取られ、フィルムは固定端近くに巻き取られる。この場合、棒3もフィルムの固定端近くまで移動するため、紐4は予めそれだけの長さを棒5に巻き取っておく必要がある。
(ハ)フィルムを開く場合には、棒5を回転させることにより紐4が棒5に巻き取られて棒3が引っ張られ、フィルムが開く。この場合、棒2は回転しながら固定端近くから元のフィルム中央部へ移動していく。
(ニ)なお、フィルムの開閉に重力を必要としないため、水平方向へのフィルムの展張や重力に逆らった方向への展張も可能となり、簡単な構造で多様な展張が可能となる。
