該シート材としては、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンなどのポリオレフィン系、ポリエチレンテレフタレートなどのポリエステル系、ポリスチレン系、ポリアミド系などの各種合成樹脂製シート、厚紙、合成紙などを用いることができる。また、シート材は、同種材料又は異種材料の積層シートでもよい。保持した商品を外部から視認できることから、透明（無色透明又は有色透明）なシート材を用いることが好ましい。中でも、適度な剛性と柔軟性を有することから、合成樹脂製シート又は合成樹脂シートが積層された積層シートを用いることが好ましい。前記合成樹脂製シートとしては、ポリプロピレン製シートを用いることがより好ましい。
シート材の厚みは、特に限定されないが、例えば、合成樹脂製シート又は合成樹脂製シートを含む積層シートの場合には、０．２ｍｍ〜１．０ｍｍ程度が例示される。
