前記プリンタ筐体の開口に、開閉可能に嵌装された開閉カバーと、
前記開閉カバーを前記プリンタ筐体に開閉可能に取り付ける開閉カバー取り付け構造を備えた画像形成装置において、
前記開閉カバー取り付け構造は、
前記開閉カバーの内面の下端近傍から前記第1方向に突出するように形成された略U字状の一対の腕と、
前記各腕のうち略U字状を成す端部のうち開放された端部から、それぞれ前記第2方向に互いに逆向きに突出するように形成された回転軸と、
前記プリンタ筐体の内周面から第1方向の内向きに突出するように設けられ、前記回転軸が嵌合される軸受け孔及び前記軸受け孔に連通された溝が形成された一対の第1リブと、
前記プリンタ筐体の内周面で、かつ前記一対の第1リブの中間部から前記第1方向の内向きに突出するように設けられ、嵌合孔及び全期間号孔に連通されたスリットが形成された第2リブと、
ばね用の線材で形成され、前記第2方向に沿って伸びた第1直線状部分と、前記第1直線状部の両端から前記第1方向に向かって略C字形状に形成された当接部と、前記当接部の前記第1直線上部とは反対側の端部から前記第2方向に互いに逆方向に突出するように形成された第2直線状部と、前記第2直線状部の前記当接部とは反対側の端部から前記第1方向に突出するように形成された抜け止め部を有するばね部材とを有し、
前記第1直線状部分は前記第2リブの嵌合孔に嵌合され、前記第2直線状部及び前記抜け止め部は前記第1リブの軸受け孔に嵌装され、さらに前記第2直線状部が前記溝に嵌装され、前記当接部は前記腕の外周面に当接され、
前記腕の端部は、前記回転軸の中心からの距離が略等しくなるように形成された第1当接面及び第2当接面を有し、
前記開閉カバーを閉じた状態及び開いた状態のいずれにおいても、前記ばね部材の当接部が弾性変形して、前記第1当接部又は前記第2当接部を垂直上方に付勢し、それによって前記開閉カバーに負荷がかかり、前記開閉カバーが振動などによって自然に開閉されることを防止し、
