該媒体を搬送路に搬送する搬送手段と、該搬送路に配置された、該媒体の幅を検知する第1のセンサと、該媒体の搬送方向と直角方向に移動する、印字ヘッドを搭載した印字キャリアと、該印字キャリアに搭載された、該媒体の右端エッジを検知するための第2のセンサと、該第1のセンサによって検知された信号から該媒体の幅情報を取得すると共に、該印字キャリアを移動させて該第2のセンサによって該媒体の右端エッジを検出するように制御する制御部と、を有することを特徴とする印字媒体取扱装置。
