Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus in which a plurality of light source elements, which are point light sources, are arranged in a line to form a light source, and an image is read based on reflected light when a document is irradiated with the light source.
An image reading apparatus used in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a printer, or a facsimile reads an image by irradiating a document with a light source and guiding the reflected light to a solid-state image sensor through an imaging lens. This reading method includes a fixed reading in which an original is set (fixed) on a contact glass and the light source is moved, and a flow reading in which the light source is fixed and the original is moved (flowed) by, for example, an automatic document feeder. .
The light source, the moving device, the imaging lens, and the solid-state imaging device described above are disposed in a sealed space (reading space). This is to prevent the occurrence of abnormal images such as vertical streaks due to dust entering the reading space blocking the optical path or adhering to the lens or reflecting mirror. For this reason, when the light source is turned on, the temperature in the reading space gradually rises as well as the vicinity of the light source. In particular, when scanning is performed, the temperature of the light source is rapidly increased because the light source continues to be lit in a state where the light source is disposed at a certain position. Furthermore, recently, a white high-intensity light source may be mounted as a light source in order to cope with high-speed image formation and colorization. In such a case, a cooling unit is an essential configuration. come.
However, since the light sources disclosed in
Accordingly, the present invention provides an image reading apparatus using a plurality of light source elements, which changes the operation control of the cooling fan in accordance with the number of light sources that are turned on, thereby reducing the operating noise of the cooling fan and wasting power. The present invention also relates to an image reading apparatus comprising: a solid-state imaging device in which reflected light reflected by the image surface of the document is guided through an imaging lens.
The invention according to claim 7 is the image reading device according to
According to an eighth aspect of the present invention, in the image reading device according to any one of the first to seventh aspects, the light source element is a white LED.
According to a ninth aspect of the present invention, an image reading unit that reads an image of a document, an image forming unit that forms an image on a sheet based on image information of the document read by the image reading unit, and the image forming unit The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus including a sheet feeding unit that supplies sheets. The image forming apparatus according to the present invention is characterized in that the image reading device according to any one of
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the light source is configured by aligning a plurality of light source elements in a line shape, and the number of lighting of the light source elements is controlled by the control means. Here, the greater the number of light source elements lit, the greater the amount of heat generated and the higher the temperature of the light source. Along with this, the atmosphere around the light source or the temperature of the temperature management target member also increases. Here, the temperature management target member is a light source itself, a substrate constituting the light source, another member (for example, contact glass) that is disposed in the vicinity of the light source and has a specified temperature set as an upper limit temperature. That means. The control means controls the rotation and stop of the cooling fan in accordance with the number of light sources that are turned on, so that the cooling fan is not rotated unnecessarily. Thereby, the noise of a cooling fan can be reduced and the waste of the electric power for rotating a cooling fan can be prevented.
According to the second aspect of the present invention, for example, even if the number of lighting of the light source elements is the same, if the lighting time is different, the manner of increasing the temperature of the atmosphere or the temperature management target member is different. Therefore, by controlling the rotation and stop of the cooling fan according to the number of light source elements that are turned on and the lighting time, the cooling fan is prevented from rotating more than necessary, thereby reducing noise and wasting power. Can be prevented.
According to the third aspect of the present invention, for example, even if the number of light source elements, the number of lighting, and the lighting time are the same, if the lighting current value is different, the manner of temperature rise is different. Therefore, by controlling the rotation and stop of the cooling fan in accordance with the number of lighting light sources and the lighting current value, or the number of lighting and lighting time and the lighting current value, the cooling fan is prevented from rotating more than necessary. Noise can be reduced and waste of power can be prevented.
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, the threshold value of the number of light source elements to be turned on is set in advance by an experiment or the like. At this time, as a threshold value, for example, when the number of lighting is equal to or greater than the threshold value, the temperature of the temperature management target member reaches a predetermined temperature or higher, and is set so as not to reach the predetermined temperature below the threshold value. As a result, when the number of light source elements to be lit is less than the threshold value, the cooling fan is stopped to reduce noise and prevent waste of electric power.
According to the fifth aspect of the present invention, the cooling fan is rotated when the temperature of the temperature management target member detected by the temperature detecting means is equal to or higher than the threshold value, and when the temperature is not below the threshold value, the cooling fan is stopped. In other words, since the temperature of the temperature management target member is directly detected and the rotation or stoppage of the cooling fan is controlled based on that temperature, for example, even if the environmental temperature changes greatly, a cooling fan is necessary. It is possible to prevent the rotation of the cooling fan, reduce the noise of the cooling fan, and prevent waste of electric power.
According to the invention of
According to the seventh aspect of the present invention, since the temperature detection means is arranged in the storage chamber, the detection result can well reflect the temperature of the temperature management target member and the atmosphere in the storage chamber.
According to the invention of claim 8, since the light source element is a white LED, it is suitable for color image reading and high-speed image reading as compared with LED light sources of other colors. Tends to rise. Therefore, by applying the present invention to an image reading apparatus having such a white LED as a light source, it is more effective for reducing noise of the cooling fan and suppressing waste of electric power.
According to the ninth aspect of the present invention, the effects of the above first to eighth aspects of the image reading apparatus can be exhibited as the image forming apparatus.

As shown in FIG. 2, the
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the
In FIGS. 3 and 4, originals G of various sizes are shown in a state in which the reference corner is aligned with the reading reference position P01. Here, the size and orientation of each document G are displayed at positions corresponding to the diagonals of the reference corners in each size document G. For example, B5 and A4 in FIG. 3 indicate the position of the original when the “long side” of each original G is aligned with the
The notations such as “B5”, “B5R”, “A4”, “A4R”, “B4”, “A3”, etc. are not actually shown on the

As shown in FIG. 1, the
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, below the left end side of the
As shown in FIG. 2, fixed left pulleys 34 and 34 are provided at the front and rear ends in the vicinity of the left end of the
As shown in FIG. 2, the
The
In the present embodiment, the
The
When reading the image of the document G, the

Subsequently, the operator operates an operation panel (not shown) attached to the
On the other hand, in the latter flow scanning, the original G is placed on the
In the present embodiment, the LED elements L1 to L22, which are point light sources, can individually control lighting conditions by the control means 70 shown in FIG. In the present embodiment, the lighting condition refers to the number of LED elements to be lit, and the number of lighting elements and which LED elements are to be lit are controlled by the control means 70.

In other words, LED elements other than the above-described LED elements, that is, LED elements that do not contribute to the irradiation of the document are turned off. In the above-described example, the LED elements L1 to L9 are lit for any size (sheet passing width) of the document G, and it can be seen that the larger the size of the document G, the more LED elements to be lit. . As described above, the LED elements that do not contribute to the reading of the original G are turned off, thereby suppressing the temperature rise of the
Similarly, in the case of flow reading, only the LED elements corresponding to the sheet passing width of the original G are turned on, and the other LED elements that do not contribute to irradiation are turned off. In the flow-reading, the document G is set on the
In the present embodiment, white LED elements are used as the LED elements L1 to L22. The white LED element is suitable for reading a color original G or reading an original G at a high speed, but has a drawback that it generates a large amount of heat when it is lit because of its high brightness.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, in order to cool the LED elements L <b> 1 to L <b> 22 and other members (members for temperature management) such as the light source
In the example shown in FIG. 1, as the cooling
The cooling
As shown in FIG. 5, a correlation between the number of lighting LED elements and the temperature is obtained in advance by an experiment using an actual machine. Here, as an example, it is assumed that the component specification temperature of the
Therefore, the threshold value of the number of lighting as the lighting condition of the LED element is set to c and stored in the storage unit 70b of the
Here, the timing of starting the rotation of the cooling
According to the present embodiment, when the number of LED elements to be lit is less than the threshold value, the cooling
In the above description, the case where the
In the above description, the case where the cooling
<
In the first embodiment described above, the rotation and stop of the cooling
This embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. In this embodiment, the component specification temperature (described as “specification” in FIG. 6) of the
Also in this embodiment, the correlation among the number of lighting, time, and temperature is obtained in advance by an experiment using an actual machine. For example, when the number of LED elements to be lit is c, the upper limit set temperature is reached at time t2 unless the cooling
At the time of image reading, for example, when a plurality of documents G are continuously scanned and read, the sheet passing width of the document G is detected as described above, and the LED used by the control means 70 in accordance with this is detected. The number and position of lighting of the element are determined. Here, for example, when the number of lighting is c, the
According to the present embodiment, based on a table stored in advance in the control means 70, first, it is determined whether or not to rotate the cooling
In this embodiment, as a lighting condition, a lighting current value may be further added to the number of LED elements to be lit and the lighting time. When a large amount of lighting current is supplied to the LED element, the luminance increases and the amount of heat generation increases. Therefore, for example, when the LED element is used by changing the lighting current value and changing the brightness, when the data shown in FIG. 6 is taken in advance, the LED element is lit at the actually used brightness and cooled. Data regarding the time for which the

In this embodiment, temperature detection means is provided, and the cooling fan is rotated and stopped based on the detection result.
As described in the first and second embodiments, there is a correlation between the temperature of the
Therefore, in this embodiment, the temperature of a member whose temperature is to be controlled is actually detected by a thermistor (temperature detection means), and the control means 70 controls the rotation and stop of the cooling
In the example shown in FIG. 7, the component specification temperature of the
The temperature is detected by the thermistor every predetermined time (in this example, 30 seconds) after the
In the example illustrated in FIG. 8, a case will be described in which the component specification temperature of the
The temperature is detected by the thermistor every predetermined time (in this example, 30 seconds) after the
In the example shown in FIG. 9, the case where the component specification temperature of the
The temperature is detected by the thermistor every predetermined time (in this example, 30 seconds) after the
According to this example, by taking into account the predictive control, the stop time of the cooling
In the example shown in FIG. 9, when the number of originals G to be read and their sizes are known in advance, the lighting time can be added to the lighting conditions in S23. However, in this case, the correlation between the number of LED elements to be lit, the lighting current value, the lighting time, and the temperature is obtained in advance by an experiment using an actual machine, and the result is stored as a table in the storage means 70b of the control means 70. In addition, when reading the original G, it is necessary for the operator to input the size and number of originals from the operation panel in advance.
In the examples shown in FIGS. 7, 8, and 9, the temperature detection by the thermistor is described every 30 seconds, but this time interval may be set appropriately according to the actual machine. For example, an image reading apparatus having a large number of originals read per unit time has a high temperature rise, so this time interval is short. Conversely, an image reading apparatus having a small number of originals read per unit time has a slow temperature rise. The time interval may be set longer.
In the above-described first, second, and third embodiments, the case where the temperature management target member is the
In the above-described
In the first, second, and third embodiments described above, the case where the lighting conditions of the LED elements L1 to L22 are individually controlled has been described. In practice, however, several LED elements are lit up at the time of image reading. Turns off. For example, as described above, when the original G is A4 vertical scanning, among the 22 LED elements L1 to L22, the central LED elements L4 to L19 (first group) are turned on, and the outer LED elements are turned on. L1 to L3 (second group) and LED elements L20 to L22 (third group) are turned off. Therefore, the control means 70 may collectively control the lighting or extinguishing of the LED elements for each group as described above.
