Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an all-optical network quality monitoring apparatus, and more particularly to an all-optical network quality monitoring apparatus capable of monitoring the quality of an all-optical network and improving operational manageability.
In an all-optical network, it is possible to switch the path of the optical path as it is without going through electrical processing, compared to the optical network that switched the path through conventional electrical processing. As a result, power consumption and equipment installation space can be greatly reduced.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, on an optical network, there is a method for transmitting WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) optical signals having different bit rates to a destination. For example, in OTN (optical transport network), optical signals received from SDH / SONET networks (bit rates: 155 Mbps to 2.85 Gbps, 9.953 Gbps, 39.9 Gbps) are OTN payloads standardized by ITU-T G.709. It is stipulated that each optical signal is inserted into a part, and each optical signal is WDM and transmitted to a transmission line. There is also a method for managing the operation of an optical network by arranging WDM devices that perform electrical processing (OEO) between optical switching nodes.
However, in an all-optical network, the optical switching node that switches the path of the optical path switches the path without using digital electrical processing (OEO), so the quality management between nodes and fault isolation in the network must be performed. However, there is a problem that operational management is poor.
It is possible to monitor the signal quality by providing a monitor port in the optical switching node, separating the WDM optical signal for each wavelength, and installing a quality monitoring device composed of OE for each wavelength, This requires many quality monitoring devices, and there are problems in terms of power consumption and device installation space.
An object of the present invention is to provide an all-optical network quality monitoring apparatus that can solve the above-mentioned problems and can economically realize quality management and fault isolation functions for each wavelength in an all-optical network.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides an optical coupler that taps a WDM optical signal from an all-optical network, and a monitor wavelength that selects an optical signal of one wavelength to be monitored from the WDM optical signal tapped by the optical coupler. A selection unit; a monitoring unit that monitors a quality monitoring bit in the optical signal selected by the monitor wavelength selection unit; and a monitoring control unit that sends a command indicating one wavelength to be monitored to the wavelength selection unit. Has the first feature.
In the present invention, the monitor means has a plurality of monitor modules that differ according to the transmission speed of the optical signal, and the optical signal selected by the monitor wavelength selection means is broadcast to all of the plurality of monitor modules. A second feature is that the apparatus further includes a coupler, and the monitoring control unit functions only the monitor module corresponding to the transmission speed of the optical signal selected by the monitoring wavelength selection unit.
In addition, the present invention has a third feature in that the monitoring control unit sends a command indicating one wavelength to be monitored to the wavelength selecting unit periodically or based on a user operation.
Furthermore, the present invention is characterized in that, when a failure is detected in the all-optical network, the supervisory control unit sends a command for instructing the wavelength that has failed as one wavelength to be monitored to the wavelength selection unit. There are four features.
According to the first and second aspects of the present invention, first, an optical signal having one wavelength to be monitored is selected, and then the selected optical signal is monitored. Any monitor can be used, and there is no need to provide a monitoring means for each wavelength, and the quality of the all-optical network can be monitored economically.
According to the third feature, the quality of the all-optical network can be appropriately monitored even in a steady state. According to the fourth feature, the failure of where the failure occurs when the failure occurs in the all-optical network. Carving is possible.
The present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an embodiment of an all-optical network quality monitoring apparatus according to the present invention. When quality monitoring of the entire all-optical network and fault location isolation are performed, such quality monitoring devices are arranged at a plurality of appropriate locations in the all-optical network.
1 includes
The
The monitor
The quality monitoring device 6 includes a plurality of monitor modules 6-1, 6-2, and 6-3 so that the quality of the all-optical network can be monitored in synchronism with bits even when optical signals having different bit rates are input. For example, the monitor module 6-1 is for 10.7 Gbps and 11.1 Gbps, the monitor module 6-2 is for 43 Gbps, and the monitor module 6-3 is for low speed (155 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps). 10.7Gbps, 43Gbps, and 155Mbps to 2.5Gbps correspond to SDH / SONET bit rates of 9.953Gbps, 39.9Gbps, and 155Mbps to 2.48Gbps, respectively. In addition, 11.1Gbps is prepared for 10GbE.
The optical coupler 5 broadcasts the optical signal selected by the monitor
The monitoring control device 7 controls the monitoring target all-optical network and the monitoring target wavelength in the monitoring
Next, the operation of the quality monitoring apparatus in FIG. 1 will be described. First, the operation during steady state will be described. FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing the operation of the quality monitoring apparatus in a steady state.
First, the monitor / control device 7 designates the all-optical network to be monitored and the wavelength. In this embodiment, which of the all-optical networks NW-A and NW-B is to be monitored and which wavelength to monitor. Is sent to the monitor wavelength selection switch 4 (S21). At regular times, this command is sent periodically or in accordance with the operation of the network operator.
The monitor
The optical coupler 5 broadcasts the optical signal transmitted from the monitor
Next, the monitoring control device 7 sends a selection command to the monitoring module that can monitor the optical signal selected by the monitoring
(S24)。 Subsequently, the monitoring control device 7 sends an alarm mask release command for releasing the alarm mask of the monitor module used for monitoring to the quality monitoring device 6, and further reads the quality monitoring bit included in the optical signal. The instructed quality monitoring bit read command is sent (S24).
The quality monitor device 6 cancels the mask of the monitor module to be used according to the bit rate of the selected optical signal by an alarm mask cancel command. The monitor module whose mask has been released reads the quality monitoring bit included in the optical signal in accordance with the quality monitoring bit read command and notifies the monitoring control device 7 (S25). Note that the monitor module is masked unless it receives an alarm mask release command, and a quality monitoring bit and an alarm can be notified only after the mask is released. Therefore, the monitor modules other than being unmasked by the alarm mask cancel command do not notify the monitoring control device 7 of the quality monitoring bit or alarm even if the monitor module is equal to the state in which no optical signal is input.
(S26)。 When receiving the quality monitoring bit from the monitor module of the quality monitoring device 6, the monitoring control device 7 converts the quality monitoring bit into the all-optical network quality (S26).
As described above, an optical signal of a certain wavelength is selected and monitored by the quality monitoring device 1, and the monitoring result is notified to the monitoring control device 7. Therefore, the monitoring control device 7 can monitor the quality of the all-optical network for each wavelength. Can be monitored. If the wavelengths are sequentially selected by the monitor
(S28)。 Thereafter, the monitoring control device 7 sends an alarm mask processing command for masking the monitor module whose mask is released again to the quality monitoring device 6 (S27), and the quality monitoring device 6 receives the monitor module whose mask is released. Is masked not to notify the quality monitoring bit or alarm (S28).
Next, the operation at the time of failure of the quality monitoring apparatus of FIG. 1 will be described. FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing the operation of the quality monitoring apparatus at the time of failure.
Since communication is performed at an end-end, that is, at a client device, an optical signal is converted into an electrical signal, a failure of the all-optical network can be detected. For example, if a BER threshold is set for a client device that communicates using an all-optical network, and the BER of the received optical signal exceeds this BER threshold, a failure alarm (BER threshold excess alarm) is issued from the client device. It can be sent out.
The monitoring control device 7 or network management device (NMS) detects a failure alarm from the client device (S30), and sends a command for specifying the failure path and the wavelength of the optical signal of the failure to the monitor
The monitor
The optical coupler 5 broadcasts the optical signal transmitted from the monitor
Next, the monitoring control device 7 sends a selection command to the monitoring module that can monitor the optical signal selected by the monitoring
(S34)。 Subsequently, the monitoring control device 7 sends an alarm mask release command for releasing the mask of the monitor module used for monitoring to the quality monitoring device 6, and further reads the quality monitoring bit included in the optical signal. A quality monitoring bit read command is sent (S34).
(S35)。 The quality monitor device 6 cancels the mask of the monitor module to be used according to the bit rate of the selected optical signal by an alarm mask cancel command. The monitor module whose mask has been released notifies the quality control bit to the monitoring control device 7 (S35).
(S36)。 When the monitoring control device 7 receives the quality monitoring bit from the monitor module of the quality monitoring device 6, the all-optical network is determined from the quality monitoring bit from each quality monitoring device 1 and the arrangement relationship of each quality monitoring device 1 in the all-optical network. The location where the failure occurred is identified (S36).
(S38)。 Thereafter, the supervisory control device 7 sends an alarm mask processing command for masking the monitor module whose mask has been released again to the quality monitor device 6 (S37), and the quality monitor device 6 receives the monitor module whose mask has been released. Is masked not to notify the alarm (S38).
OTNベースでは、通常時ではFEC(forward error correction)の誤り訂正ビット数(EC)をカウントし、それをBER(Bit error rate:1秒当たりの誤り率)に換算することで全光ネットワークの品質を監視できる。 また、障害時ではOTU(optical channel transport unit)またはODU(optical channel data unit)レイヤのBIP8の値を読み取ることで全光ネットワークの障害を監視できる。 FIG. 4 shows an OTN-based signal frame structure defined in ITU-TG.709. In the OTN base, the number of error correction bits (EC) of FEC (forward error correction) is counted in normal times, and converted to BER (Bit error rate: error rate per second). Can be monitored. Conversion to BER can be performed by dividing the number of error correction bits during the period from the start to the end of monitoring. In the event of a failure, the failure of the all-optical network can be monitored by reading the BIP8 value of the OTU (optical channel transport unit) or ODU (optical channel data unit) layer. Therefore, in the case of the OTN base, FEC can be used as the quality monitoring bit in S24 of FIG. 2, and BIP8 can be used as the quality monitoring bit in S35 of FIG. The failure of the all-optical network determines that the BER has exceeded a preset BER threshold in the quality monitor device 6, generates a quality deterioration alarm, and transmits the quality deterioration alarm to the monitoring control device 7, Alternatively, monitoring can also be performed by transmitting the FEC to the monitoring control device 7 and generating a quality deterioration alarm based on the FEC in the monitoring control device 7.
Next, fault location isolation in the all-optical network will be described. Quality monitoring of the all-optical network can be performed at various locations, and this makes it possible to identify faulty locations or quality degradation locations that were difficult at the optical level.
なお、波長パスの途中に3R(reshaping(波形整形), retiming(タイミング抽出), regenerating(識別再生))機能を有するノードが設けられている場合には、その下流側のROADMは障害を通知しない。
