Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-mounted display such that hair is hardly caught during use. <P>SOLUTION: A cover 8 is provided to cover a part including a display part hinge 7 coupling a support arm 4 and a display part 6 to each other, and a cover 9 is provided to cover a part including a support part 5 coupling the support arm 4 and a headphone housing 2 to each other. Those covers 8 and 9 are made flexible to follow up movements of the support arm 4 and display part 6, and also formed in a bag shape a little larger than the support arm 4 and display part 6. Description

  The present invention relates to a head mounted display.

  In recent years, various glasses-type image display devices for observing an image displayed on a display such as a liquid crystal panel (LCD) as a virtual image enlarged through an optical system having an eyepiece, a half mirror, and the like have been proposed. It is called a mount display. An example of such a head mounted display is described in, for example, WO 2004/061519 A1 (Patent Document 1).

  In many cases, the video display device is configured to be worn on the face in a form wound around the head, and corresponds to one eye of the binocular type in which a video display system is formed at a position corresponding to both eyes and one of the left and right eyes. There is a one-eye type in which an image display system is formed at a position. Such a head-mounted display usually has a display unit for displaying video and a headphone for outputting sound.

  An outline of such a head mounted display is shown in FIG. In the head mounted display 21, two headphone housings 22 are connected by an overhead band 23. The overhead band 23 has elasticity, and when the head mounted display 21 is mounted, the headphone housing 22 is positioned at both ear positions, and the headband (ear part) of the human being is placed on the headphone by the elasticity of the overhead band 23. It is sandwiched and fixed by the housing 22. At the time of wearing, as shown in FIG. 2, the overhead band 23 is worn at a position so as to face the top of the head.

A support arm 24 is attached to the headphone housing 22 through a support portion 25 so as to be able to rotate in the left-right direction, turn in the up-down direction, and slide in the front-rear direction. A display unit 26 for displaying an image on the user's eyes is attached. In use, the support arm 24 is rotated to position the display unit 26 in front of the user's eyes and display an image. The display unit 26 is attached to the support arm 24 so that the yaw and the roll can be rotated via the display unit hinge 27, and the display unit 26 is rotated with respect to the support arm 24. Thus, fine adjustment of the positional relationship and the angular relationship between the eyes and the display unit 26 is performed.

  Thus, a typical conventional head-mounted display has a joint mechanism between the fixed part and the support arm, and between the support arm and the display part. For this reason, there is a problem that hair or the like is easily caught by this joint mechanism.

  This invention is made | formed in view of such a situation, and makes it a subject to provide the head mounted display which a hair etc. cannot catch easily during use.

  The first means for solving the above problems includes a display unit that displays an image on one eye, a support arm that rotatably holds the display unit at a tip thereof, and a rotary arm that holds the support arm rotatably. And a cover that covers a portion including at least one of a coupling portion between the display portion and the support arm and a coupling portion between the support arm and the fixing portion. Is a head mounted display.

  The second means for solving the above-mentioned problem is the first means, characterized in that the cover has a space for wiring.

  According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a head mounted display in which hair is not easily caught during use.

  Hereinafter, an example of an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an outline of a head mounted display as an example of an embodiment of the present invention. In the head mounted display 1, two headphone housings 2 are connected by an overhead band 3. The overhead band 3 has elasticity, and when the head mounted display 1 is mounted, the headphone housing 2 is positioned at both ear positions, and the human head (ear part) is placed on the headphone by the elasticity of the overhead band 3. It is fixed by being sandwiched by the housing 2. At the time of wearing, as shown in FIG. 1, the overhead band 3 is worn at a position so as to face the top of the head.

  A support arm 4 is attached to the headphone housing 2 so as to be capable of rotating in the left-right direction, rotating in the up-down direction, and sliding in the front-rear direction via the support portion 5. A display unit 6 for displaying an image on the user's eyes is attached. In use, the support arm 4 is rotated to position the display unit 6 in front of the user's eyes and display an image. The display unit 6 is attached to the support arm 4 so that the yaw and the roll can be rotated via the display unit hinge 7, and the display unit 6 is rotated with respect to the support arm 4. Thus, fine adjustment of the positional relationship and angular relationship between the eye and the display unit 6 is performed. The headphone housing 2, the overhead band 3, and the support portion 5 correspond to the fixed portion.

  In the present embodiment, a cover 8 is provided so as to cover a portion including the display unit hinge 7 that couples the support arm 4 and the display unit 6, and the support unit 5 that couples the support arm 4 and the headphone housing 2. A cover 9 is provided so as to cover the included portion. These covers 8, 9 are flexible so that they can follow the movement of the support arm 4 and the display unit 6, or have a larger bag shape than the support arm 4 and the display unit 6. The cover 9 has a bellows portion 9a, and can support the sliding of the support arm 4 in the front-rear direction.

  In the present embodiment, the headphone housing 2, the support arm 4, and the display unit 6 are partially covered with the covers 8 and 9, but the audio output unit of the headphone housing 2 and the video output of the display unit 6 are used. The entire view through the window may be covered with a cover.

  Further, if a wiring from the headphone housing 2 to the display unit 6 is arranged outside the support arm 4 and this wiring is covered with a cover together with the support arm 4, the wiring may be caught by an external object. It can be eliminated, and there is no need to put wiring in the support arm 4.

Claims (2)

  A display unit that displays an image on one eye, a support arm that rotatably holds the display unit at a tip thereof, and a fixing unit that rotatably holds the support arm and fixes the display unit to the head. And a cover that covers a portion including at least one of a coupling portion between the display portion and the support arm and a coupling portion between the support arm and the fixing portion.   The head-mounted display according to claim 1, wherein the cover has a space for wiring.
