Abstract
Description
本発明の実施形態は、契約番号DE−FC26−02NT41219のもとで政府の支援によってなされることが可能である。したがって、米国政府は、本発明の部分または実施形態に対するペイドアップ・ライセンス、および限定された条件で契約番号DE−FC26−02NT41219の条項により定められるような合理的な条件で特許権者が他者にライセンスを供与することに対して要求する権利を有することができる。

燃料の流れから含硫化合物を除去し、蓄積し、放出するための燃料フィルタと、燃料システムおよび燃料フィルタと流体連通する内燃機関と、内燃機関の排気の流れと流体連通する排出制御デバイスと、蓄積された含硫化合物の放出を制御するための手段とを備える。
センサによって燃料フィルタの前後の燃料の硫黄含有率を測定すること(フィルタに入る測定値と等しいあるいはそれに近い硫黄測定値は、フィルタが燃料から硫黄をこれ以上除去しないことを示す)、
エンジンが排気の流れにどれほど多くの硫黄を排出しているか判断するセンサを設けること、
車両の燃料中の硫黄の百万分率でのベースラインを判断するために燃料貯蔵タンクにセンサを設けること、
および、燃料フィルタの前後に圧力センサを設けることがあり、上述の方法はどれも、図18によって示されるようなマイクロプロセッサまたは制御装置、およびそれと連絡する様々なセンサによって容易にされる。本明細書で用いられる燃料フィルタの再生は、蓄積された含硫化合物の少なくとも1つの部分を放出することを指す。そのような放出または再生は、1つまたは複数の方法によって達成可能である。
Claims (20)
- 内燃機関の燃料の流れから含硫化合物を除去するための方法であって、
含硫化合物を除去することが可能な燃料フィルタに燃料を通過させることによって、前記含硫化合物を前記燃料の流れから除去するステップと、
前記燃料フィルタに前記含硫化合物を蓄積するステップと、
排出制御デバイスの再生サイクル中に、前記蓄積された含硫化合物の一部分を前記燃料の流れの中に放出するステップとを備える方法。 - 前記燃料フィルタが、前記燃料から前記含硫化合物を除去し、蓄積し、放出する吸着剤を含み、前記含硫化合物を前記吸着剤から放出する温度に前記燃料または前記吸着剤を加熱することによって前記含硫化合物の一部分が放出される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記排出制御デバイスがNOX吸着装置である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記再生サイクルが、亜酸化窒素の還元をもたらす、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記再生サイクルが、前記排出制御デバイスから含硫化合物の遊離をもたらす、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記蓄積された含硫化合物が前記吸着剤内にまたはその上に蓄積される、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記蓄積された含硫化合物の一部分を放出する前記ステップが、前記吸着剤を前記燃料の通常の作動温度よりも高い温度に加熱することを含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記吸着剤が100℃に等しいまたはそれよりも高い温度に加熱される、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記吸着剤が、前記燃料の沸点よりも低い温度に加熱される、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記燃料がディーゼル燃料である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 内燃機関の燃料の流れから含硫化合物を除去し、蓄積し、その後放出するための燃料フィルタであって、吸着剤、および前記吸着剤を加熱するための加熱要素を有する少なくとも1つのカラムを備える燃料フィルタ。
- 少なくとも1つのガードベッドをさらに備える、請求項11に記載の燃料フィルタ。

前記燃料システムおよび前記燃料フィルタと流体連通する内燃機関と、
前記内燃機関の排気の流れと流体連通する排出制御デバイスと、
前記蓄積された含硫化合物の前記放出を制御するための手段とを備えるシステム。 - 前記燃料フィルタが、吸着剤を含む少なくとも1つのカラムをさらに備える、請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 前記燃料フィルタが、少なくとも1つのガードベッドをさらに備える、請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 前記燃料フィルタが、吸着剤を含む少なくとも2つのカラムを備える、請求項17に記載のシステム。
- 前記燃料フィルタが、少なくとも2つのガードベッドを備える、請求項18に記載のシステム。
- 前記燃料の流れを濾過するための第2の燃料フィルタをさらに備え、前記第2の燃料フィルタが、前記燃料の流れから含硫化合物を除去し、貯蔵し、放出するように構成されず、前記燃焼後の排出制御デバイスがNOX吸着装置である、請求項15に記載のシステム。
