Description

The present invention relates to a connector that is mounted on a printed wiring board and electrically connects an electric wire and the printed wiring board.

Conventionally, as shown in FIG. 8, the circuit of the printed wiring board is connected to the electric wire by providing a wiring drawing plug 110 on the circuit board surface 140 a and attaching the crimp connector socket 111 to the electric wire 103. And the plug 110 are fitted.
However, in this method, the number of parts such as sockets and plugs and the number of assembly steps are large, and the process of soldering the plug 110 to the substrate 140 is necessary, resulting in high cost.
In addition, since a space for routing the electric wire 103 is necessary on the circuit surface 140a, it is difficult to reduce the mounting space.
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-91002 discloses a connector with a reduced number of parts, but requires a lot of man-hours as in the prior art in that soldering to a substrate is required.

Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-91002

In view of the above technical problems, an object of the present invention is to provide a connector that is highly reliable in electrical connection, has a small number of parts, is excellent in assemblability, and is effective for downsizing and thinning.

The connector according to claim 1 is a connector for connecting an electric wire and a board circuit, comprising a housing and a terminal, the terminal having an elastic contact piece on one board side and connecting the electric wire on the other side. And the housing has a board mounting surface and a terminal housing portion for arranging the terminal substantially parallel to the board mounting surface. The terminal housing portion is provided on the terminal insertion port and the elastic contact piece on the board mounting surface side. And a protruding portion of the contact portion, and a terminal is inserted into the terminal insertion port of the housing so that the contact portion protrudes from the protruding port.

Here, the terminal housing portion in which the terminal is disposed substantially parallel to the board mounting surface means that the terminal can be inserted into the terminal housing portion on the housing side in a direction parallel to the board mounting surface.

The connector according to claim 2 is characterized in that the terminal has a guide piece, the terminal accommodating portion has a guide groove, and the guide piece of the terminal is inserted along the guide groove.

Here, the guide piece provided in the terminal is for insertion along a guide groove formed on the housing side.
Therefore, when guide pieces are formed at both ends along the insertion direction of the terminal, and correspondingly, guide grooves are formed on both sides of the housing portion on the housing side, the elastic contact pieces are pressed against the substrate. It may be possible to stably receive the reaction force in the guide grooves on both sides.

The connector according to claim 3 is characterized in that the terminal and the terminal storage portion are engaged by a lance provided on one side and a lance locking portion provided on the other side.
As a result, the terminal can be locked to the housing simply by being inserted into the terminal housing.

The connector according to claim 4 is characterized in that the elastic contact piece is branched into a plurality of portions and a plurality of contact portions are provided.
Here, the purpose of branching the elastic contact piece into a plurality is to connect to the contact terminal portion on the substrate side with a plurality of contacts, and it is divided at the time of press processing of the terminal while taking into account the contact pressure.

The connector according to claim 5 is characterized in that the housing has a connector mounting recess formed on the substrate side to serve as a substrate mounting surface.
The purpose of forming the connector mounting recess on the board side of the housing is to reduce the height of connection of the connector to the board by the height of the step.

The connector according to claim 6 is characterized in that the housing has a locking portion with the substrate.
The connection method between the connector and the substrate is not particularly limited as long as the substrate mounting surface of the housing can be connected so as to cover the contact terminal portion on the substrate side. However, when the housing is provided with a locking portion with the substrate as in the invention of claim 6. Connection is possible simply by locking the connector to the board.

In the connector according to the present invention, since the terminal can be inserted into the terminal accommodating portion from the terminal insertion port substantially parallel to the board mounting surface, the terminal is accommodated substantially parallel to the circuit surface of the board and protrudes toward the board side. Since the contact portion of the elastic contact piece is connected to the contact terminal portion so as to bend, the height of the connector from the circuit board surface can be reduced.
Here, when the connector mounting concave portion is formed on the substrate side of the housing, it can be further lowered by the concave step.
In addition, since the electric wire is connected to the terminal so as to be parallel to the circuit surface of the substrate, the electric wire can be connected to the substrate with a very thin and compact structure.
Since this connector has a simple structure and a small number of parts, it can be made extremely small and thin.

The assembly of the connector is very simple and requires fewer assembly steps because it is possible to connect the wire to the terminal, insert the terminal guide piece along the guide groove from the insertion slot, and snap the lance. Great cost reduction effect.

The connection reliability of the terminal-side contact portion to the board contact terminal portion is further improved if the elastic contact piece is divided into a plurality of points and contact is made at a plurality of points each provided with a contact portion.

When the housing is provided with a locking portion with the board, the connector can be attached to the board using the locking portion.

As shown in FIG. 2B, the connector 10 is provided with a plurality of terminals 30 arranged along the end face 42 a of the end portion 41 of the substrate 40.
As shown in FIG. 7, a plurality of contact terminal portions 43 are arranged on the substrate end portion 41 along the end surface 42a by printing.
As shown in FIG. 2B, when the connector 10 is mounted on the board 40, the contact portions 32 of the elastic contact pieces 31 of the terminals 30 are in elastic contact with the contact terminal portions 43, respectively.
When the terminal 30 is connected to the contact terminal portion 43, the electric wire having one end fixedly connected to the terminal 30 is electrically connected to the contact terminal portion 43 via the terminal 30 and connected to the circuit of the substrate 40.
A sectional view taken along line AA in FIG. 1A is shown in FIG. 3B, and an enlarged explanatory view in the vicinity of the terminal 30 in FIG. 2B is shown in FIG.
FIG. 3A shows a cross section taken along the line B-B of FIG. 3B in which the upper portion of the housing 20 is removed for easy understanding of the terminal 30 attached state.
As shown in FIG. 3 (b), the housing 20 is provided with a terminal insertion port 22 on the side surface 20b of the housing that is substantially perpendicular to the board mounting surface 20a to the board so that the terminal can be inserted substantially parallel to the board circuit surface 40b. A protruding opening 23 is provided in the substrate mounting surface 20a and from which the contact portion of the terminal protrudes.
Further, a hollow portion 24 is formed between the terminal insertion port 22 and the projecting port 23, and these are communicated to form the terminal storage portion 21.
The hollow portion 24 is provided with guide grooves 25 horizontally cut symmetrically on the left and right inner walls 24a so as to be substantially parallel to the board circuit surface 40b, and has a lance locking surface 26a for restricting terminal removal. A lance engaging portion 26 is provided at the upper center portion.

The terminal 30 is formed of a strip-shaped piece, and is provided with an electric wire fixing portion 36 for crimping and connecting the electric wire 3 on the rear side in the terminal insertion direction, and on the front side in the terminal insertion direction, the elastic strip is bent at an obtuse angle toward the substrate side. A contact piece 31 is provided.
A terminal fixing portion 34 is provided between the electric wire fixing portion 36 and the elastic contact piece 31, and the terminal fixing portion 34 has guide pieces 33 that protrude in the width direction on both sides in the width direction of the strip-shaped pieces, A lance 35 is formed by making a U-shaped cut 34a at the center and bending the tongue piece upward to an obtuse angle.
The terminal 30 fits the guide piece 33 into the guide groove 25, the lance 35 is locked to the locking surface 26 a of the lance engaging portion 26, and the flat side surface of the strip-shaped piece is placed in the storage portion 21. It is stored toward the 40b side.
The elastic contact piece 31 is bifurcated at the tip side, is inclined and extends toward the protruding port 23 side, and a contact portion 32 that is bent so as to be rounded on the substrate 40 side is provided at the tip portion. 32 is projected from the projecting opening 23 and brought into contact with the contact terminal portion 43 of the substrate 40.
One terminal 30 elastically connects two contact portions 32 to one contact terminal portion 43 so as to bend the inclination toward the substrate side.
Since the terminal 30 is connected if one of the two contact portions 32 is electrically connected to the contact terminal portion 43, the connection reliability is high.
The electric wire fixing part 36 holds the electric wire 3 by pressing it from above the covering while the covering holding part 36a bites into the covering of the electric wire 3, and presses the conductor of the electric wire 3 by the conductor holding part 36b. And the electric wire 3 is connected so that it may become substantially parallel to the board | substrate circuit surface 40a.
To store the terminal 30 in the terminal storage portion 21, first, the end portion of the electric wire 3 is connected and fixed to the electric wire fixing portion 36, and the terminal 30 is inserted into the terminal insertion port 22 from the elastic contact piece 31 side. The lance 35 is inserted while being bent in the step shape of the lance engagement portion 24 while being guided inwardly into the storage recess 21 by being fitted in the guide groove 23.
When the guide piece 33 abuts the end of the guide groove 25, the lance 35 becomes the position of the lance return space 26b of the lance engagement portion 26 at that position, so that the lance 35 is elastically restored and its tip is the locking surface. Locks to 26a.
Thereby, the terminal 30 can be positioned and fixed.
The assembly of the connector 10 does not require soldering as in the prior art, and only involves crimping and connecting the electric wire to the electric wire fixing portion and snap-locking the terminal 30 into the storage portion 21. .
Further, the connector 10 has a small number of parts, a very simple structure, and the electric wires are arranged in parallel with the circuit surface, so that the height can be extremely reduced.
This greatly increases the degree of design freedom on the device side to which the connector is attached.
Since the height of the connector 10 can be made lower than the height of about 2 mm of the LED side portion 44a of the LED module substrate 40 shown in FIG. 2B, for example, an LED module substrate for a backlight of a liquid crystal panel, for example. When used for connection to an electric wire, the backlight can be effectively reduced in thickness.

Fig.4 (a) shows the cc sectional view taken on the line of FIG.4 (b), and shows the example which made the shape of the terminal arrange | positioned in the accommodating part of a housing into another shape.
The terminal 30a is provided with an elastic contact piece 31a that is bent at an acute angle at the end portion of the terminal storage portion 21 so as to be inclined toward the substrate, and the tip of the elastic contact piece 31a is rounded on the substrate side to be This is an example in which the contact portion 32a with the substrate is bent.

5 and 6 show another embodiment of the connector having a different mounting structure to the substrate.
