Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image data management system that manages and retrieves images captured by a digital camera using a mobile terminal device, a PC (personal computer), or the like.
In recent years, digital cameras have been widely used, and there are various methods for managing captured image files with a PC, a PDA (personal digital assistant), or the like. Among these methods, a method of managing using information (hereinafter referred to as EXIF information) included in an EXIF marker is often seen in recent years. However, when managing image files using EXIF information, all image files must be transferred to the managing terminal. This is unsuitable when, for example, it is desired to manage an image taken on the go with a portable information terminal having a relatively small storage area such as a PDA on the spot.
For example, it is assumed that a large number of images are taken at the destination, and these images are sorted on the spot by PDA, and images are taken every 10 minutes. In this case, the shooting time information of all the images is necessary, but all the images must be transferred to the PDA even though only the image every 10 minutes is necessary for the image main body.
As another example, a system is considered in which position information acquired from a GPS receiver is transmitted from the GPS receiver to a digital camera, and the position information is written in the EXIF information at the time of photographing in the digital camera. All images taken with this system include the location information of the place where the photo was taken in the EXIF information. It is assumed that the position information of these images is displayed in cooperation with the map information on the PDA, and only the images within a specific area are extracted. In this case as well, position information of all captured images is necessary, but the image main body need only be an image captured within a specific area. Nevertheless, all images must be transferred to the PDA.
However, considering that the image storage area of the PDA is small, only the necessary images should be transferred. The same can be said even if the transfer time is long when image transfer from the digital camera to the PDA is performed by wireless communication or the like.
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to link the information at the time of shooting with the image file name in consideration of the above-described actual situation, and transmit the information to a management terminal device such as a PC or PDA. An object of the present invention is to provide an image data management system that uses the storage area of the management terminal device efficiently by transmitting to the management terminal device, reduces the time spent for image transfer, and has high use efficiency.

Furthermore, only the additional information linked to the image data is transmitted from the digital camera to the PDA, and the PDA manages the image using the additional information, and only the necessary image data is transmitted from the digital camera at an arbitrary timing. get. In this case, position information input from the GPS device is used as additional information for managing images.

FIG. 11 is a conceptual diagram showing image management information. FIG. 12 shows an example of the image information list. The image management information in FIG. 11 is transmitted from the digital camera to the PDA. The image information list in FIG. 12 is stored in the PDA.
The timing for transmitting the image management information to the PDA may be when the processor of the digital camera (16 in FIG. 5) confirms whether there is untransmitted management information in the SDRAM and there is untransmitted management information. .
The transmission to the PDA is performed immediately after the management information is stored in the SDRAM (15 in FIG. 5), or when the user inputs a management information transmission command via the UI (user interface) of the digital camera, or The transmission period is determined in advance, and is executed after a predetermined time has elapsed.
More specifically, as the timing of transmission to the PDA, only the additional information linked from the digital camera to the image data is transmitted every time the digital camera is photographed. Therefore, the transmission trigger of the additional information is at the time of shooting. As for the timing of transmission to the PDA, only the additional information linked from the digital camera to the image data is transmitted when the user inputs a transmission command via the user interface (UI) of the digital camera. Therefore, the transmission trigger of the additional information is at the time of a transmission command from the user (external).
Furthermore, as the timing to transmit to the PDA, only the additional information linked from the digital camera to the image data is transmitted every time period preset on the user side (external) via the user interface (UI) of the digital camera. . Therefore, the transmission trigger of the additional information is timer setting.
