1、歯ブラシ部1を上にして充電するため、従来の製品様に歯ブラシ部1を上、動力取り出し部15を下に配置した構造では歯ブラシ部1に保持された磨き粉や水分は動力取り出し部15に停留する。
2、電動歯ブラシの畜電池部7は歯ブラシ使用時は放電、充電スタンド13にセットした時には充電をくり返す。畜電池部7は充電中にはその温度が上昇し、充電完了と共に次第に温度が下がりいずれ室温に戻る。つまり、充放電を繰り返す事により畜電池部7は室温と高温状態を繰り返すことになる。その結果筐体14内の圧力は変動し、動力取り出し部15に停留する水分は次第次第に内部に吸い込まれる。その結果、動力取り出し軸4周辺に付着している磨き粉や水分が動力取り出し部15から筐体14内に流入し、配線の腐食や漏電の原因になる。
3、一般に密閉された空間内で動作する機構部品はジュール熱や摩擦熱でその空間の温度を上昇させる。このことは内部の気体が膨張することになり密閉空間を形成する筐体14内の圧力を上昇させ、ひいては破裂させる事になる。これを防ぐ為に一般にはこの空間(筐体14)と外部とをつなぐ穴を貫通させる。この穴のことをブリーザー(空気穴)と呼ぶ。
4、電動歯ブラシは水洗されるのでこういったブリーザーは設けることが出来ず、水分の侵入を防ぐ為、穴は設けない。又動力取り出し部15も軸シール用のオーリング2等で密閉されている。
5、オーリング2はゴムで出来たドーナツ状の弾性体であるため、動力取り出し軸15が揺動運動を繰り返せば摩耗をする。又、外気と筐体14内の圧力差が大きければ弾性変形して外気と筐体14内の圧力差を解消する。このことは外部の磨き粉や水分が筐体14内に侵入する事になる。
