Abstract
Description
支持体は、膜の形状を一定に保つものであり、高分子液晶から構成されている。ここで、高分子液晶とは、光学材料などとして使用される液晶性を有する高分子物質であり、その数平均分子量が数千〜数万程度のものである。そして、その構造は通常の高分子鎖に液晶性を示す置換基が導入されている。また、通常の高分子とは異なり、溶融状態で分子の配向が見られ、温度を下げても溶融状態における分子配向がそのまま固定される。具体的には、下記の化学式(1):
イオノフォアは、特定のイオンと結合してイオンを検出するものであり、公知ものであれば特に制限することなく使用することができる。
膜溶媒は、支持体やイオノフォアを溶解して流動性を与えるためのものであり、低分子液晶等を使用する。また、低分子液晶の具体例としては、例えば、下記の化学式(3)に示すものを挙げることができる。なお、支持体として使用する高分子液晶のガラス転移点が低い場合には、膜溶媒を使用しなくてもイオン感応膜を製膜できる可能性がある。
アニオン性又はカチオン性添加塩は、イオン感応膜に加えることによって、測定対象であるアニオンやカチオンに対する応答性を向上することができる。これは、例えば、アニオン性添加塩をイオン感応膜に加えることによって、脂溶性のアニオンがイオン感応膜中にとどまり、膜が負電荷を帯びたようになることによって、測定対象であるカチオンを膜中に取り込み易くし、アニオンを取り込み難くする、からである。
前記各成分をテトラヒドロフラン(以下、THFと略す。)等からなる適量の溶媒に混合・溶解して混合液とする。なお、イオン感応膜中、支持体、イオノフォア、膜溶媒、添加塩などの含有量は、具体的な材料によって異なるが、概ね以下のとおりである。また、溶媒の量は、後述する塗布工程で選択する塗布方法に適した粘度が得られる量である。
(1)で得られた混合液を、キャスト法、スプレー塗布、スパッタリング法、ディップ法やスピンオンコート法などによって、テフロン(登録商標)多孔質膜等の多孔質膜、単極型やMOS型の電界効果型トランジスタ(以下、FETと略す。)のゲート部に塗布する。なお、混合液は、FETのゲート部に直接塗布するのではなく、ガラス管などに接着剤により接着し、FETのゲート部とハンダ等などによって結合している銅板などの導電性基板に塗布してもよい。
混合液を塗布した多孔質膜やFETは、これらを埃が降ってこない乾燥器に入れて、室温で6時間以上放置し、その後減圧下、室温で1時間乾燥させることにより、イオン感応膜、イオン選択性電界効果型トランジスタとなる。
(3)で作製されたイオン感応膜やイオン選択性電界効果型トランジスタを、作用電極としてポテンショメータの一極に取り付け、ポテンショメータの他極に参照電極を取り付けることにより、イオンセンサが完成する。なお、前記ポテンショメータや参照電極は、公知のイオンセンサに使用可能であれば特に限定することなく使用することができる。
(a)作用電極の作製
支持体である化学式(1)の高分子液晶と、イオノフォアである化学式(2)のベンゾ-15-クラウン-5誘導体と、膜溶媒である化学式(3)の低分子液晶と、アニオン性添加塩であるテトラキス(4-クロロフェニル)ホウ酸カリウム(KTpClPB)とを下記の表1に記載した割合で混合し、任意量のTHF中に溶解した。
(a)で作製したISFET及びISEを、0.1 Mの塩化カリウム水溶液に一晩以上浸してコンディショニングを行ったのち、ポテンショメータ(東興化学研究所(株)社製TP-1000)、参照電極(電気化学計器(株)社製4083)と組み合わせて、イオンセンサを作製した。作製したイオンセンサの概略を図1及び図2に示す。
(1)で作製したイオンセンサを使用して、塩化カリウム水溶液の活量を1X10-6 M〜1X10-1 Mの範囲で変化させてその電位応答を測定した。具体的には、25℃に保温した恒温槽4、14に試料溶液である1X10-6 M 塩化カリウム水溶液を入れ、この試料溶液に高濃度の塩化カリウム水溶液を任意量添加することによって、その活量を徐々に増加させながら(インジェクション法)、それに伴う電位応答を測定した。その結果を図3及び図4に示す。
ナトリウムイオンに対するカリウムイオンの選択係数は、妨害イオン(ナトリウムイオン)の活量を一定にして、目的イオン(カリウムイオン)の活量を変化させる混合溶液法によって算出した。具体的には、25℃に保温した恒温槽4、14に試料溶液である塩化カリウム及び塩化ナトリウムをそれぞれ1X10-6 M、0.3 Mずつ含む水溶液を入れ、この試料溶液に0.3 M 塩化ナトリウムと高濃度の塩化カリウム水溶液とを含む水溶液を任意量添加して、試料溶液の塩化カリウム活量のみを増加させながら、それに伴う電位応答を測定した。その結果を図5及び図6に示す。

- 低分子液晶からなる膜溶媒を含有する請求項1に記載のイオン感応膜。
- 請求項1から請求項5のいずれかに記載のイオン感応膜を電界効果型トランジスタのゲート部に接続してなるイオン選択性電界効果型トランジスタ。
- 請求項1から請求項5のいずれかに記載のイオン感応膜を使用する作用電極と、参照電極とを備えたイオンセンサ。
- 請求項6に記載のイオン選択性電界効果型トランジスタを使用する作用電極と、参照電極とを備えたイオンセンサ。
