Description

The present invention relates to a pedestrian airbag apparatus including an airbag configured to cover the vicinity of the upper surface side of a cowl and the front side of left and right front pillars when inflation is completed.

Conventionally, in a pedestrian airbag device, the airbag has an inflated shape, a lateral inflating portion that covers the vicinity of the upper surface of the cowl, and a front surface of the left and right front pillars that extends from the left and right ends of the lateral inflating portion to the rear side. And a vertically inflating portion that covers the side, and is substantially U-shaped when viewed from above, and a gas inflow port portion connected to the inflator is disposed in the portion of the lateral inflating portion. . And in the conventional pedestrian airbag device, the lateral inflating portion is restrained from being inflated more than necessary when the inflation is completed, so that the upper surface side of the cowl can be covered widely in the front-rear direction. It was comprised from two horizontal cell parts arranged in parallel (for example, refer patent document 1).
JP 2004-299442 A

However, in the conventional pedestrian airbag device, the gas inlet part into which the inflation gas from the inflator flows is disposed on the side of the lateral cell part on the rear side, and the inflation inlet that flows in from the gas inlet part The gas was supposed to flow from the rear lateral cell portion into the front lateral cell portion via the longitudinal expansion portion. Therefore, in the conventional pedestrian airbag device, the inflation gas that has once flowed into the longitudinal inflation portion flows backward toward the front lateral cell portion, and the longitudinal inflation portion is in the initial stage of inflation of the airbag. There was room for improvement in that the front pillar side fluttered easily on the left and right sides, and the time until the vertical expansion part accurately covered the front side of the front pillar was shortened.

The present invention solves the above-described problems, and allows the airbag to be deployed and inflated so that the longitudinally inflated portion covers the front side of the front pillar quickly and accurately at the initial stage of deployment and inflation. It aims at providing the airbag apparatus for pedestrians.

A pedestrian airbag device according to the present invention is an airbag configured to be folded and stored in a storage part on the front side of a front windshield of a vehicle and to be expanded and inflated by projecting from the storage part when inflating gas flows. An inflator that supplies inflation gas to the airbag, and
The airbag has, as an inflation completed shape, a lateral inflating portion that covers the vicinity of the upper surface side of the cowl, and a longitudinal inflating portion that extends from the vicinity of both left and right ends of the lateral inflating portion to the rear side and covers the front side of the left and right front pillars. The airbag device for a pedestrian having a configuration in which a gas inflow port portion connected to an inflator is disposed in a portion of the lateral inflating portion while being substantially U-shaped when viewed from above,
In the lateral expansion portion, a rectifying cloth that is connected to the gas inlet portion and controls the inflow direction of the expansion gas flowing into the lateral expansion portion is disposed,
The horizontal inflating portion is provided with a partition portion that is continuously disposed substantially along the left-right direction so as to partition the expansion region in the front-rear direction, and is divided into two horizontal cell portions arranged in parallel in the front-rear direction. And is configured to have a rectifying cloth disposed in one horizontal cell portion,
The two horizontal cell portions are configured to be able to communicate with each other at a portion in the vicinity of the rectifying cloth,
The rectifying cloth is configured to include gas outflow holes through which the expansion gas can flow out in three directions, that is, the left and right sides of one side cell part and the other side cell part side.

In the pedestrian airbag device according to the present invention, when the inflation gas is discharged from the inflator during operation, the inflation gas flows in from the gas inlet and is left and right in one horizontal cell portion by the rectifying cloth. While flowing in toward both sides, it also flows into the other horizontal cell portion, expands the two horizontal cell portions to expand the horizontal expansion portion, and then flows into the vertical expansion portion to expand the vertical expansion portion. It will be. That is, in the pedestrian airbag device of the present invention, the inflation gas flows into the longitudinal inflation portion after the entire lateral inflation portion has substantially completed inflation. As described above, the phenomenon that the expansion gas flows backward in the vertical expansion portion does not occur, and the vertical expansion portion expands so as to cover the front side of the front pillar quickly and accurately while suppressing the flapping to the left and right. Can be made.

Therefore, in the airbag device for pedestrians of the present invention, the airbag can be deployed and inflated so that the longitudinally inflated portion can cover the front side of the front pillar quickly and accurately at the initial stage of deployment and inflation.

Further, in the pedestrian airbag device of the present invention, when the storage part is disposed in the vicinity of the rear edge of the hood panel itself, the gas inlet portion is on the side of the lateral cell portion on the front side of the lateral expansion portion, With the arrangement, the front side horizontal cell part itself can cover the upper surface side near the rear edge of the hood panel, and the horizontal cell part arranged on the rear side further covers the front windshield. Since the upper surface side of the lower part side can be covered, the upper surface side of the cowl can be covered widely in the front and rear directions by the laterally expanded portion that has been expanded, which is preferable.

Furthermore, in the pedestrian airbag device of the present invention, when the storage portion is disposed in the cowl portion, the gas inlet portion is disposed on the side of the lateral cell portion on the rear side of the lateral expansion portion. Then, the upper side of the cowl portion can be covered with the lateral cell portion on the rear side itself, and the upper side of the rear edge of the hood panel can be covered with the lateral cell portion disposed on the front side. Since it can do, the upper surface side of a cowl can be widely covered back and forth by the lateral expansion part which completed expansion, and it is preferred.

Each attachment piece 66A may be coupled to the lower wall portion 52 immediately before the outer peripheral edges of the upper and lower wall portions 51 and 52 are sewn together.

The airbag 34 manufactured in this manner is folded so as to be housed in the case 21, connected to the inflator 25, and attached to the case 21 using the retainers 30 </ b> A and 30 </ b> B.

The airbag 34 is folded in the left-right direction so that the upper wall portion 51 and the lower wall portion 52 overlap each other and can be accommodated in the case 21 so that the width in the front-rear direction can be reduced. It folds through the horizontal folding process which folds along, and the vertical folding process which folds along the front-back direction so that the width dimension of the left-right direction may be narrowed. In the case of the embodiment, the airbag 34 is folded in the vertical folding process after the horizontal folding process, thereby completing the folding process.

Then, in the lateral folding process, as shown in FIGS. 13A and 13B, from the state where the upper wall portion 51 and the lower wall portion 52 are overlapped with each other and flattened, first, the front side of the inflow port portion 44 and The front side portion 70 (the front lateral cell portion 39 and the front end side portion of each vertical expansion portion 42) is formed on the side of the lower wall portion 52 so that the front edge 38a of the horizontal expansion portion 38 approaches the inflow port portion 44. While being rolled and folded, a rear side portion 71 (rear end side portion of the rear horizontal cell portion 40 and each vertical expansion portion 42) on the rear side of the inflow port portion 44 is connected to the rear edge 42a of the left and right vertical expansion portions 42. Is wound on the side of the lower wall portion 52 so as to approach the inflow port portion 44, and is rolled. Next, as shown in FIGS. 13B and 13C, the rear-side portion 71 that is roll-folded is disposed above the inflow port portions 44 and 44, and further, as shown in FIGS. 13C and 13D, the rear-side portion 71 A roll folding completion body 73 is formed so that the front-side portion 70 that is roll-folded is placed above the front-side portion so that the width dimension in the front-rear direction corresponds to the width dimension in the front-rear direction in the opening 21 a of the case 21. Complete the folding process.

After that, as shown in FIG. 13D and E, the left and right end portions 73b and so as to narrow the width dimension in the left and right direction of the roll folding completed body 73 in correspondence with the width dimension in the left and right direction of the opening 21a of the case 21. The folding process of the airbag 34 can be completed by folding 73b from the upper side to the center 73a side and completing the longitudinal folding process.

After the airbag 34 is folded, the folded airbag 34 is wrapped with a wrapping material for preventing collapse, and then the inflators 25 and 25 are connected to the inlets 45 of the inlet portions 44 of the airbag 34. Inserting it into the insertion port 45a, fixing the retaining ring 75a of the clamp 75 with bolts 75b and nuts 75c, and pressing the insertion port part 45 against the tip 25a of the inflator 25, the airbag 34 and the inflators 25 and 25 are connected. Link. And the horizontal bar part 30a of retainer 30A * 30B is inserted in the loop part 68 of each attachment piece part 66A * 66B, the airbag 34 and the inflator 25 are accommodated in the case 21, and the inflator 25 and retainer 30A * 30B are accommodated. The bolts 27 and 31 are protruded from the mounting holes 23 a and 23 b of the bottom wall portion 23 of the case 21, and spring washers (not shown) for preventing the bolts 31 from coming off from the bottom wall portion 23 are fitted into the bolts 31. Further, a nut 28 is fastened to each bolt 27, and the cover 16 in which each connecting piece 18 is screwed 19 to the rear wall portion 22c of the case 21 in advance, and each locking leg 17 is locked to the locking hole 22b. The pedestrian airbag device M1 can be assembled by being inserted and locked to the case 21 and assembled to the case 21.

And if each bolt 31 is penetrated to the attachment seat 11 of the inner panel 9 with respect to the inner panel 9 of the hood panel 8 assembled | attached to the body 1 side of the vehicle V, and the nut 32 will be fastened to each bolt 31 The pedestrian airbag device M1 can be mounted on the vehicle V.

When the pedestrian airbag device M1 is mounted on the vehicle V, an operation signal input lead wire from an airbag operation circuit (not shown) is connected to the inflator 25 side.

In the pedestrian airbag apparatus M according to the embodiment, when an operation signal is input from the airbag operation circuit to the inflators 25 and 25 in the vehicle mounted state, the inflation gas G is discharged from each inflator 25 and the airbag 34. However, the expansion gas G flows in and expands. Then, the cover 16 covering the opening 21a of the case 21 is pushed by the airbag 34, and the locking leg 17 is pulled out from the locking hole 22b, thereby opening the opening 21a. The projection protrudes upward from the bottom, and the expansion is completed as shown by the two-dot chain line in FIGS. 1 and 2 and FIG.

In the pedestrian airbag apparatus M1 according to the embodiment, when the inflation gas G is discharged from the inflator 25 during operation, the inflation gas G flows from the inlet portion (gas inlet portion) 44. The rectifying section (rectifying cloth) 48 flows into the front horizontal cell section 39 toward both the left and right sides, and also flows into the rear horizontal cell section 40 so that the two front and rear horizontal cell sections 39 and 40 are connected. The lateral expansion part 38 is expanded to expand, and then flows into the vertical expansion parts 42 and 42 to expand the vertical expansion parts 42 and 42. That is, in the pedestrian airbag apparatus M1 of the embodiment, the inflation gas G flowing from the inlet port 44 is directed to the left and right sides from the gas outlet holes 48a and 48a into the front horizontal cell portion 39 by the rectifier 48. The expansion gas GF that flows in and the expansion gas GB that flows backward from the gas outflow hole 48b into the rear horizontal cell portion 40 are branched and expanded. The gas GF / GB expands the front / rear horizontal cell portions 39/40 and then flows into the vertical expansion portions 42/42 (see FIG. 15). Therefore, in the pedestrian airbag apparatus M1 of the embodiment, the inflation gas flows into the longitudinal inflation portions 42 and 42 after the entire lateral inflation portion 38 is almost completely inflated. Like a pedestrian airbag device, there is no phenomenon in which the inflation gas flows backward in the longitudinal inflating portions 42, 42, and the longitudinal inflating portions 42, 42 can be quickly and accurately controlled with no flapping from side to side. The front pillar 4 can be inflated so as to cover the front side of the lower part 4a.

Therefore, in the pedestrian airbag apparatus M1 according to the embodiment, the longitudinally inflated portions 42 and 42 can be quickly and accurately covered with the front side of the lower side portion 4a of the front pillar 4 at the initial stage of deployment and inflation. The bag 34 can be deployed and inflated.

Further, in the pedestrian airbag apparatus M1 of the embodiment, the case 21 as a storage part is disposed in the vicinity of the rear edge 8b of the hood panel 8 itself, so that the inflow port portion 44 is connected to the lateral inflating portion 38. It is set as the structure arrange | positioned in the front horizontal cell part 39 side. If the airbag 34 has such a configuration, the front side cell portion 39 itself can cover the upper surface side in the vicinity of the rear edge 8b of the hood panel 8, and further, the rear side cell portion 40 allows the front windshield 3 to be covered. Since the upper surface side of the lower part 3a can be covered, the upper surface side of the cowl 2 can be covered widely in the front and rear directions by the lateral expansion part 38 that has completed the expansion, which is preferable.

Moreover, it is good also as a structure which arrange | positions the case 83 as a storage location in the site | part of the cowl 79 like the airbag apparatus M2 for pedestrians shown in FIG. In the pedestrian airbag apparatus M <b> 2, a box-shaped case 83 with a bottom that opens upward is coupled to the cowl panel 81 using a bracket 84 below the cowl louver 80. The cowl louver 80 is provided with an airbag cover 80a that covers the case opening 83a and that can be opened when the airbag 34A is deployed and inflated. In the airbag 34A of the airbag device M2, the inlet portion 44A is disposed on the rear lateral cell portion 40A side of the lateral inflating portion 38A, and the rectifying portion 48A communicating with the inlet portion 44A A gas outflow hole 48b is arranged on the front side so that the expansion gas can flow out to the side cell portion 39A. Further, gas outflow holes 48a and 48a for allowing the expansion gas to flow out into the rear horizontal cell portion 40A are disposed on the left and right ends of the rectifying portion 48A (see FIG. 18). This pedestrian airbag apparatus M2 has the same configuration as the pedestrian airbag apparatus M1 described above except for the arrangement position of the apparatus and the arrangement position of the inflow port portion 44A in the airbag 34A. The members are denoted by the same reference numerals and description thereof is omitted.

Also in the pedestrian airbag apparatus M2 having such a configuration, the inflation gas G flowing in from the inflow port portion 44A is caused to flow from the gas outflow holes 48a and 48a by the rectifying portion 48A as shown in FIG. The expansion gas GB that flows into the left and right sides of 40A and the expansion gas GF that flows forward from the gas outflow hole 48b into the front horizontal cell portion 39A are branched. The expansion gas GF / GB flowing into the interior expands the front / rear horizontal cell portions 39A / 40A and then flows into the longitudinal expansion portions 42A / 42A. Therefore, also in the pedestrian airbag device M2 of the embodiment, the inflation gas flows into the longitudinal inflating portions 42A and 42A after the entire lateral inflating portion 38A is substantially inflated. The inflating portions 42A and 42A can be inflated so as to cover the front side of the lower side portion 4a of the front pillar 4 quickly and accurately while suppressing the flapping to the left and right.

And in the airbag apparatus for pedestrians of the structure which arrange | positions a storage site | part to the site | part of the cowl 79, like the airbag apparatus M2 of embodiment, the inflow port part 44A of the airbag 34A is made into the back in the horizontal expansion part 38A. If it is configured to be disposed on the side of the horizontal cell portion 40A, as shown in FIGS. 17 and 18, the rear horizontal cell portion 40A itself can cover the upper surface side of the cowl 79, and the front horizontal cell portion Since the upper surface side of the rear edge 8a of the hood panel 8A can be covered by 39A, the upper surface side of the cowl 79 can be covered widely in the front-rear direction by the laterally expanded portion 38A that has completed the expansion, which is preferable.

Of course, the arrangement position of the airbag device and the arrangement position of the inflow port portion are not limited to the above, and if the above points are not taken into account, for example, a configuration in which a case is arranged near the rear edge of the hood panel The pedestrian airbag device may be an airbag having an inlet portion disposed on the rear lateral cell portion side, and further, a pedestrian having a configuration in which a case is disposed at a cowl portion. You may use the airbag of the structure which has arrange | positioned the inflow port part to the front horizontal cell part side for the air bag apparatus.

In the airbag devices M1 and M2 of the embodiment, the inflator 25 is disposed at two locations, but the number of inflators is not limited to this, and the inflator 25 is disposed at one location near the center in the left-right direction. It is good also as a structure which arrange | positions an inflator. Further, in the airbag apparatus M1 and M2 of the embodiment, the inflator 25 is connected to the inlet portions (gas inlet portions) 44 and 44A of the airbags 34 and 34A. It is good also as a structure which arrange | positions cloth and stores in an airbag. In this case, the gas inlet portion is disposed inside the airbag, and the inflation gas flows into the airbag from the rectifying cloth via the inlet portion connected to the inflator. Become.
