Description

The present invention relates to a connector fixing bracket for fixing a housing of a connector mounted on a board to the board.

In order to fix a connector housing mounted on a substrate such as a printed wiring board to the substrate, a connector fixing bracket is used. The connector fixing bracket is provided on the housing and includes a pair of claw portions. The pair of claw portions of the connector fixing metal fitting project toward the board, and are inserted into a through-hole provided in the board and engaged with the periphery of the through-hole to temporarily fix the housing to the board. And a housing is fixed to a board | substrate by soldering a pair of nail | claw part engaged with the periphery of the through-hole to a board | substrate (for example, refer patent document 1).

However, since the pair of claw portions of the connector fixing metal fitting needs to bend when inserted into the through hole, the pair of claw portions are thinly formed so as to be slightly elastically deformable on the opposite sides. For this reason, even if a pair of nail | claw part is soldered, the joining area with solder cannot fully be ensured. For this reason, it may be difficult to obtain sufficient strength to fix the housing to the substrate, and a countermeasure for securing the strength has been desired.
Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 63-199473

In view of the above problems, an object of the present invention is to obtain a connector fixing metal fitting that can secure sufficient strength to fix a connector housing to a substrate.

The connector fixing bracket according to the invention of claim 1 is provided in a connector fixing bracket for attaching a housing of a connector mounted on a board to the board, and is provided so as to protrude from the housing toward the board. A pair of claw portions for fixing the housing to the substrate by bringing the housing into a temporarily fixed state by being engaged with a peripheral edge of a through hole provided in the substrate and being soldered to the substrate; A protrusion formed integrally with the pair of claw portions and soldered to the substrate is provided between the pair of claw portions.

In the connector fixing metal fitting according to the first aspect of the present invention, when the pair of claw portions provided in the housing of the connector are inserted into the through holes provided in the substrate and engaged with the peripheral edges of the through holes, the housing is Temporarily secured to the substrate.

Next, the pair of claws are soldered to the substrate. When the pair of claws are soldered to the substrate, the housing is fixed to the substrate.

Here, this connector fixing metal fitting is provided with the projection part integrated with a pair of nail | claw part. The protrusion protrudes between the pair of claws and is soldered to the substrate together with the pair of claws. As a result, the protrusion is fixed to the substrate. Therefore, the present connector fixing metal fitting has an increased bonding area with the solder as a whole, as compared with a conventional connector fixing metal fitting that fixes the housing to the substrate with only a pair of claws, for example. Thereby, sufficient strength can be secured for fixing the housing to the substrate.

As described above, the connector fixing metal fitting according to the present invention can secure sufficient strength for fixing the connector housing to the substrate.

A connector 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. For convenience of explanation, the direction indicated by the arrow A in each figure is indicated by the forward direction, the direction indicated by the arrow B orthogonal to the arrow A is indicated by the right side, and the arrow C orthogonal to both the arrow A and the arrow B is indicated. The direction is upward.

FIG. 1 shows a schematic side view of a connector 10 mounted on a substrate 12 (for example, a printed wiring board). FIG. 2 is a perspective view schematically showing the connector 10.

The connector 10 includes a housing 14 formed in a substantially rectangular box shape having an opening (not shown) at the front. The top, bottom, left and right edges of the opening are defined by a top plate 16, a bottom plate 18, and a pair of left and right side walls 20. The top plate 16, the bottom plate 18, and the pair of left and right side walls 20 are connected to each other by a back wall 22 at a rear end portion opposite to the opening. Thereby, the housing 14 is formed in a substantially rectangular box shape as described above.

Each of the side walls 20 of the housing 14 is formed with a metal mounting hole 20A on the rear side. The metal fitting mounting hole 20A is formed continuously from the vertical center of the side wall 20 to the lower end, and has a vertically long slit shape that also opens below the side wall 20 in a rear view. The upper end portion of the metal fitting mounting hole 20A has a shape that is recessed forward from the middle portion and the lower end portion of the metal fitting mounting hole 20A.

A connector fixing bracket 24 made of metal is disposed in each of the bracket mounting holes 20A. The connector fixing bracket 24 is formed in a substantially L shape corresponding to the connector fixing bracket 24, and is attached to the side wall 20 of the housing 14 by being press-fitted into the bracket mounting hole 20A from the rear side of the side wall 20. Yes. Such an upper end of the connector fixing bracket 24 is engaged with the upper end of the connector fixing bracket 24 and is prevented from coming off from the side wall 20 downward.

The metal fitting mounting hole 20 </ b> A includes a pair of claw portions 26. The pair of claw portions 26 can be slightly elastically deformed in directions facing each other, and protrude from the housing 14 toward the substrate 12 when the connector fixing bracket 24 is engaged with the side wall 20. The claw portion 26 is inserted from above into a through hole 12 </ b> A provided in the substrate 12, and the tip end portion 26 </ b> A projects downward (back side) of the substrate 12. Each of the tip portions 26A of the claw portion 26 has a shape that protrudes somewhat in a direction away from each other in the front-rear direction, and the claw portion 26 is elastically deformed when the bottom plate 18 of the housing 14 is placed on the substrate 12. The state returns to the natural state, and the tip end portion 26 </ b> A engages with the lower edge of the through hole 12 </ b> A of the substrate 12. As a result, the connector fixing bracket 24 and thus the housing 14 of the connector 10 are temporarily fixed to the substrate 12. Furthermore, the pair of claw portions 26 are fixed to the substrate 12 by being soldered to the substrate 12 using the solder 40 (see FIG. 1).

A projection 28 is formed integrally with the pair of claws 26 between the pair of claws 26. The protruding portion 28 protrudes from the housing 14 toward the substrate 12 when the connector fixing bracket 24 is engaged with the side wall 20, and when the bottom plate 18 of the housing 14 is placed on the substrate 12, the distal end portion 28 </ b> A is formed. It protrudes below the substrate 12. Such a protrusion 28 is soldered to the substrate 12 in a temporarily fixed state of the housing 14.

That is, in the connector 10, the connector fixing metal 24 is inserted into the through-hole 12 </ b> A of the substrate 12 and the housing 14 is temporarily fixed to the substrate 12. The housing 14 is fixed onto the substrate 12 by soldering the front end portion 28 </ b> A to the substrate 12. Thus, the connector 10 is mounted on the substrate 12 by soldering.

Next, the operation of the connector 10 according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described.

First, the connector fixing metal fittings 24 provided on each of the pair of side walls 20 constituting the housing 14 of the connector 10 are inserted into the through holes 12 </ b> A provided on the substrate 12. At the time of this insertion, the pair of claw portions 26 are slightly elastically deformed in the directions facing each other, and each of the tip portions 26 </ b> A strokes the inner peripheral portion of the through-hole 12 </ b> A by its own elastic force. Moving.

Thus, when the pair of claw portions 26 are inserted into the through holes 12A and the bottom plate 18 of the housing 14 is placed on the substrate 12, the tip portions 26A of the pair of claw portions 26 protrude below the substrate 12, The state of being elastically deformed by the elastic force of the pair of claws 26 returns to the natural state.

When the tip portions 26A of the pair of claws 26 return to the natural state, each tip portion 26A engages with the lower edge of the through hole 12A of the substrate 12, and the housing 14 is temporarily fixed to the substrate 12.

In this temporarily fixed state, the protruding portion 28 of the connector fixing bracket 24 passes through the through-hole 12 </ b> A of the substrate 12 together with the pair of claw portions 26, and the tip end portion 28 </ b> A protrudes below the substrate 12.

Next, each of the tip end portions 26 </ b> A of the pair of claw portions 26 and the tip end portion 28 </ b> A of the protruding portion 28 are soldered to the substrate 12. As a result, the housing 14 is fixed to the substrate 12.

Here, the connector fixing bracket 24 has a larger bonding area with the solder 40 as a whole than the conventional connector fixing bracket that fixes the housing 14 to the substrate 12 with only a pair of claws, for example.

Accordingly, the connector fixing bracket 24 can secure sufficient strength to fix the housing 14 to the substrate 12.
(Modification 1)
Below, the modification of this connector fixing metal fitting 24 is demonstrated.

In this modification, the shapes of the tip end portion 26A of the pair of claw portions 26 and the tip end portion 28A of the projection portion 28 are respectively changed.

For example, as shown in FIG. 3, the connector fixing bracket 24 has a jagged shape like a saw tooth at a tip portion 26A of each claw portion 26 facing the tip portion 28A of the projection portion 28, and a protrusion. A portion of the tip 28 </ b> A of the portion 28 that faces the tip 26 </ b> A of each claw 26 may have a jagged shape corresponding to the tip 26 </ b> A of the claw 26.

For example, as shown in FIG. 4, the connector fixing bracket 24 has a portion of the tip portion 26 </ b> A of each claw portion 26 facing the tip portion 28 </ b> A of the projection portion 28 toward the tip portion 28 </ b> A side of the projection portion 28. In addition to the protruding shape, a portion of the tip 28A of the projection 28 that faces the tip 26A of each claw 26 is notched toward the center in the front-rear direction corresponding to the tip 26A of the claw 26. It is good also as the shape made.

Further, for example, as shown in FIG. 5, the connector fixing bracket 24 has a longitudinal slit-shaped notch 38 that is notched from the bottom to the top at the front end 28A of the projection 28 in the front-rear direction. A plurality (two in FIG. 5) may be provided.

As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, at least one surface area of the tip end portion 26A of the claw portion 26 and the tip end portion 28A of the projection portion 28 is the connector fixing bracket 24 (FIG. 1) described in the above embodiment. And the area of the joint with the solder 40 may be increased.
(Modification 2)
Hereinafter, another modification of the connector fixing bracket 24 will be described.

In this modification, the shape of the intermediate part of the pair of claw parts 26 (the part located in the through hole 12A of the substrate 12 in the temporarily fixed state of the housing 14) is changed.

For example, as shown in FIG. 6A, the connector fixing bracket 24 may have a shape in which an intermediate portion of the claw portion 26 protrudes outward in the left-right direction of the housing 14. 6B, when the bottom plate 18 of the housing 14 is placed on the substrate 12, the intermediate portion of the pair of claw portions 26 is the inner peripheral wall of the through hole 12A of the substrate 12. As shown in FIG. Thus, the outer surface in the left-right direction is pressed, and the housing 14 can be temporarily fixed more reliably. Accordingly, when the connector fixing bracket 24 is soldered to the substrate 12 in the temporarily fixed state, the housing 14 can be soldered in a state in which the housing 14 is securely held on the substrate 12. 14 can be more securely fixed to the substrate 12.

In this way, the connector fixing bracket 24 may be curved so that at least one of the intermediate portion of the claw portion 26 and the intermediate portion of the projection portion 28 protrudes outward in the left-right direction.
