Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a sensor that detects absorption of light by a gas serving as a sample, and relates to a gas sensor that is used for specifying the type of gas and measuring the concentration of gas.
Conventionally, a gas sensor configured to irradiate light from a light source with light from a light source and detect light attenuation due to light absorption in the gas with a photodetector as a gas sensor used to specify the type of gas as a sample and measure the concentration It has been known. As this type of gas sensor, for example, a configuration is known in which a light source and a photodetector are arranged to face each other, and a cylindrical sample cell in which gas is sealed on one axis connecting the light source and the photodetector is known. . In this configuration, each bottom wall facing the light source and the light detector in the sample cell is formed of a translucent member that transmits infrared light, and the infrared light incident on the sample cell from the light source transmits gas inside the sample cell. However, the light is incident on the photodetector (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
By the way, in order to measure the concentration of a dilute gas, it is necessary to increase the optical path length from the light source to the photodetector. However, as described above, a cylindrical shape is formed between the light source and the photodetector arranged to face each other. When the optical path length is increased in the configuration in which the sample cell is arranged, the sample cell is increased in size, and as a result, the apparatus using the gas sensor is increased in size. Thus, it has been proposed to use a sample cell in which a cylindrical tube is formed in a spiral shape (see, for example, Patent Document 1). In this sample cell, a reflection surface made of a metal thin film is formed on the inner surface of a conduit into which gas is introduced, and light from the light source is reflected by the inner surface of the conduit and reaches the photodetector. The light source and the photodetector are arranged so as to face each other, and the sample cell has a spiral shape with the straight line connecting the light source and the photodetector as the central axis and wound around the central axis.
As described above, in the configuration in which the cylindrical sample cell is arranged between the light source and the photodetector, the optical path length cannot be increased. Therefore, if the concentration of the diluted gas is to be measured, a large size is required. There is a problem of becoming.
In a configuration using a sample cell in which a cylindrical tube is spirally formed to solve this type of problem, the occupied volume with respect to the optical path length is smaller and the sensitivity is improved compared to a configuration using a cylindrical sample cell. Although the space inside the spiral is not utilized, the occupied volume with respect to the optical path length cannot be said to be sufficiently small.
In the structure described in Patent Document 2, since a plurality of straight portions are continuous at the bent portion, the wasteful space is less than the configuration using the spiral sample cell, but the wall surface of the pipe formed in the metal block Has a relatively low reflectance, and therefore has a problem that the attenuation rate of light in the pipe is large and the sensitivity cannot be sufficiently increased.
In the end, the configurations described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 have sufficiently high sensitivity so that the occupied volume with respect to the optical path length can be reduced, and the type and concentration of the diluted gas can be specified. There is a problem that it is impossible to achieve both.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned reasons, and its purpose is to increase sensitivity as compared with a configuration using a cylindrical sample cell or a configuration in which a pipe is formed in a metal block, and the tube. An object of the present invention is to provide a gas sensor capable of reducing the maximum dimension of the occupied space with respect to the optical path length as compared with a configuration using a sample cell formed in a spiral shape.
The invention of claim 1 includes a sample cell having a pipe line through which external light is blocked and a gas as a sample is introduced, a light source for irradiating light to the gas in the pipe line, and a light source in the mouth axis direction of the pipe line And a photodetector that receives light emitted from the light source and generates an electrical output corresponding to the received light intensity, and the pipe line does not leak the light emitted from the light source. A reflection surface for transmitting to the detector is provided over the entire surface, and the center line in the mouth axis direction is formed in a meandering manner in one plane between the light source and the photodetector.
According to this configuration, since the center line in the mouth axis direction is formed in a meandering manner in one plane between the light source and the photodetector, the light source and the light are compared with the spiral sample cell. The occupied volume with respect to the optical path length of the optical path passing through the pipe line between the detector and the detector is reduced, and the size and the sensitivity are reduced. Moreover, since the entire surface of the pipe is provided with a reflecting surface that transmits the light emitted from the light source to the photodetector without leaking, compared to the case where the pipe is formed in the metal block, The attenuation factor of the light at can be reduced, and this also increases the sensitivity. That is, a small and highly sensitive gas sensor can be provided.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect of the present invention, at least the tube wall on the outer peripheral side in the bent portion of the conduit is a smoothly curved concave surface.
According to this configuration, it becomes easy to reflect light in the direction from the light source toward the photodetector at the bent portion of the meandering pipe, so that the efficiency of use of the light emitted from the light source is increased, and as a result A highly sensitive gas sensor can be provided.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the first or second aspect of the present invention, the pipe is formed in an elliptical shape having a major axis in a direction perpendicular to the one plane in a cross section perpendicular to the mouth axis direction. It is characterized by being.
As in this configuration, when the cross-sectional shape perpendicular to the mouth axis direction of the pipeline is an ellipse having a major axis in a direction perpendicular to the plane including the pipeline formed in a meandering shape, It has been confirmed by experiments that the light collection efficiency at the photodetector is higher than that in this case, and thus the sensitivity is improved by employing this configuration.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the first to third aspects of the invention, the pipe has a shape in which a cross-sectional area of a cross section perpendicular to the mouth axis direction gradually increases from the light source toward the photodetector. It is characterized by being formed.
When the cross-sectional area perpendicular to the mouth axis direction of the pipe line gradually increases from the light source to the photodetector as in this configuration, the cross-sectional area is constant from the light source to the photodetector. It has been confirmed by experiments that the light collection efficiency at the photodetector is higher than that in FIG. Therefore, the sensitivity is improved by adopting this configuration.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the first to fourth aspects of the invention, the sample cell is formed by bonding two cell element bodies, and at least one cell element body is opposed to the other cell element body. The surface is characterized in that an introduction groove for forming the pipe line is formed between the surface and the other cell body.
According to this configuration, two cell element bodies are bonded together to form a sample cell, and at least one cell element body has an introduction groove on the surface facing the other cell element body. A pipe line is formed by surrounding the introduction groove with two cell bodies, and a pipe line can be formed using a synthetic resin molded product.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the first to fourth aspects of the present invention, the sample cell is formed by bending a metal tube whose inner space becomes the conduit.
According to this configuration, since the optical path between the light source and the photodetector is formed by bending the metal tube, the optical path can be easily formed without using a separate member.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, in the first to sixth aspects of the invention, the light source is disposed at one end portion in the mouth axis direction of the conduit, and the photodetector is the other end in the mouth axis direction of the conduit. It is arrange | positioned at the part.
According to this configuration, the optical path between the light source and the photodetector can be made relatively long, and a highly sensitive gas sensor can be provided.
According to an eighth aspect of the present invention, in the first to sixth aspects of the invention, the light source is disposed at an intermediate portion in the mouth axis direction of the conduit, and the photodetector is arranged at each end in the mouth axis direction of the conduit. It is characterized by being arranged in each part.
According to this configuration, since light emitted from one light source is received by different photodetectors through different paths in the pipeline, different types of gases introduced into the pipeline by the output of each photodetector are targeted. The concentration can be measured. Alternatively, if the photodetectors having different characteristics are used and the output levels of the photodetectors are compared, it can be used for the purpose of specifying the type of gas.
According to the configuration of the present invention, since the pipe line is formed between the light source and the photodetector so that the center line in the mouth axis direction is meandering in one plane, it is compared with the spiral sample cell. Then, the occupied volume with respect to the optical path length of the optical path passing through the conduit between the light source and the photodetector is reduced, and there is an advantage that the size and the sensitivity are reduced. Moreover, since the entire surface of the pipe is provided with a reflecting surface that transmits the light emitted from the light source to the photodetector without leaking, compared to the case where the pipe is formed in the metal block, In this case, the light attenuation rate can be reduced, and this also has the advantage of high sensitivity. That is, there is an effect that a small and highly sensitive gas sensor can be provided.

(Embodiment 1)
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, a
The center line along the extending direction of the
One end of the
By the way, in one
With the above-described configuration, a gas serving as a sample is introduced into the
The material forming the reflecting surface is selected so that the reflectance is 95% or more according to the type of gas serving as the sample, and is selected from, for example, gold, silver, and aluminum. The reason why the reflectance of the reflecting surface is 95% or more is that light emitted from the
By the way, since the wavelength selectivity of the optical filter used for the
The gas sensor described above introduces a sample gas into the
Here, the standard of design conditions is shown by taking as an example a case where the sample gas is carbon dioxide and is used for measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide. When the sample gas is carbon dioxide, it is only necessary to monitor the amount of absorption of infrared rays having a wavelength of about 4.2 μm. As an optical filter used for the

In order to measure the concentration of carbon dioxide using the gas sensor described above, a
When detecting the concentration of carbon dioxide, a comparison table in which the output value of the integrating
When the sample gas is methane and carbon dioxide, the gas sensor described above has an incandescent bulb with a rated power of 0.3 W as the
In the configuration example described above, the cross-sectional shape orthogonal to the mouth axis direction of the
Light detection is performed when the radius of curvature of the center line in the mouth axis direction at the
In the present embodiment, the cross-sectional shape orthogonal to the mouth axis direction of the
In the above configuration example, the cross-sectional area of the cross section perpendicular to the center line in the mouth axis direction of the
In the above-described configuration example, the
Furthermore, in the above configuration example, four
In addition to the incandescent light bulb, an incandescent radiator made of various materials such as silicon, ceramics, and metal can be used as the
In addition to the thermopile, the light receiving element used for the
In the above example, the sample gas is carbon dioxide. However, if the gas has an absorption wavelength range of 2 to 5 μm, it can be dealt with by changing the wavelength selectivity of the optical filter with the above configuration. Therefore, in addition to carbon dioxide, at least methane, alcohols (mainly ethyl alcohol), propane, water vapor, and carbon monoxide can be targeted.

(Embodiment 4)
In each of the above-described embodiments, the
In this configuration, the light emitted from the
By the way, the distribution of light emitted from the
