Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell and a fuel cell operation method, and more particularly to a fuel cell and a fuel cell operation method that are suitably used for home use and store use.
In recent years, various types of fuel cell power generation systems such as solid polymer type, phosphoric acid type, molten carbonate type, and solid electrolyte type have been proposed as next-generation energy. In particular, the solid oxide fuel cell power generation system has an operating temperature as high as about 1000 ° C., but has advantages such as high power generation efficiency and use of exhaust heat, and research and development are being promoted.
In a typical example of the fuel cell power generation system, a fuel cell including a housing that defines a power generation chamber and fuel cells arranged in the housing is provided. Such a fuel cell also includes a fuel gas supply means for supplying fuel gas to the cell, an air supply means for supplying air to the cell, and a combustion gas discharge means for discharging the combustion gas from the power generation / combustion chamber. It is attached.
However, when the spark plug is used as an ignition source, the following problems have been clarified. That is, when using a spark plug such as an igniter, noise is generated because a high voltage is generated between terminals at an early cycle. This noise may cause malfunction of electronic devices such as inverters and sequencers attached to the fuel cell. There is sex.
In addition, ignition sources such as spark plugs and metal heaters are exposed to combustion gas after ignition of unreacted gas. However, since the spark plug and metal heater itself are a metal material, the combustion gas remains hot for a long time. When exposed to water, there is a problem that the deterioration is severe due to oxidation or the like and the life is short.
An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell having an ignition source that does not affect peripheral devices and is less deteriorated due to oxidation or the like, and a method for operating the fuel cell.
In the fuel cell of the present invention, a plurality of fuel cells are housed in a housing, and the fuel that is derived by passing through the fuel cells and the gas outside the fuel cells reacts and burns It is a battery, The ceramic heater for ignition is accommodated in the said housing, It is characterized by the above-mentioned. The ceramic heater becomes a high temperature of about 1000 ° C and functions well as an ignition source. Moreover, since there is no noise that has become a problem with conventional spark plugs, there is no effect on peripheral equipment and fuel. It can be suitably used as a battery ignition source. In addition, after ignition, the ceramic heater is exposed to a high-temperature combustion gas atmosphere. However, since the ceramic heater has excellent corrosion resistance even in a high-temperature atmosphere, even if it is exposed to a high-temperature combustion gas for a long time, material deterioration will occur. There is almost no longer life, resulting in longer life of the fuel cell itself.
In the fuel cell of the present invention, the ignition ceramic heater is provided in the vicinity of the gas outlet side end of the fuel cell. For example, the ceramic heater is provided in a mixed atmosphere of a gas led out through the fuel cell and a gas outside the fuel cell. Further, the ceramic heater is provided on the gas outlet direction side which is led out through the fuel cell. In such a fuel cell, ignition can be ensured by the ceramic heater for ignition.
Furthermore, the fuel cell of the present invention is characterized in that the ignition ceramic heater is provided at a position where it is not directly exposed to the combustion flame. In such a fuel cell, it is possible to further prevent deterioration of the ceramic heater which is an ignition source.
In the fuel cell of the present invention, the ignition ceramic heater is provided at a position spaced from the extension line in the gas lead-out direction of the fuel cell. In addition, a heat insulating material is disposed in the vicinity of the fuel cell, and a ceramic heater is provided on the heat insulating material. In such a fuel cell, since the ceramic heater is not directly exposed to the combustion flame, deterioration of the ceramic heater can be prevented.
Furthermore, in the fuel cell of the present invention, the ignition ceramic heater is provided so as to penetrate the housing wall. In such a fuel cell, since the wiring to the ceramic heater is simplified, the structure can be simplified. Moreover, the ceramic heater for ignition is detachably provided from the outside through a through hole formed in the housing wall. In such a fuel cell, it can be easily removed at the time of breakage or the like, and a new ceramic heater can be installed, so that maintenance becomes easy.
In the fuel cell of the present invention, a reformer is provided in the vicinity of the fuel cell, and a ceramic heater is provided between the fuel cell and the reformer. . In such a fuel cell, the ignition ceramic heater can be provided in a portion where the fuel gas concentration between the fuel cell and the reformer is high, so that ignition can be performed smoothly.
Further, in the fuel cell of the present invention, a reformer is provided in the vicinity of the fuel cell, and an ignition ceramic heater is provided on the surface of the reformer on the fuel cell side. And In such a fuel cell, the ceramic heater for ignition can be easily installed and can be ignited reliably.
Further, in the fuel cell of the present invention, the ignition ceramic heater is configured to be able to protrude to the vicinity of the gas outlet side of the fuel cell at the time of ignition. In such a fuel cell, the ceramic heater is present in the vicinity of the combustion flame only at the time of ignition, and then separated from the combustion flame, so that the deterioration of the ceramic heater for ignition can be prevented.
Furthermore, the fuel cell of the present invention is characterized in that a thermal sensor for detecting combustion is provided in the housing. In such a fuel cell, since it can be confirmed by a thermal sensor whether or not ignition by the ignition ceramic heater has been performed, leakage of non-combustible gas can be prevented and safety can be ensured.
In the fuel cell of the present invention, a preliminary ignition ceramic heater is provided in the housing. In such a fuel cell, even if one ignition ceramic heater deteriorates, it can be ignited using the other ignition ceramic heater.
In the method for operating a fuel cell according to the present invention, a plurality of cell stacks each including a plurality of fuel cells are accommodated in a housing, and the gas led out through the fuel cells and the outside of the fuel cells. A method of operating a fuel cell in which gas reacts and burns, wherein each of the cell stacks is ignited after a certain time. In such a fuel cell operation method, a plurality of cell stacks are ignited with a certain time lag without igniting a plurality of cell stacks at the same time. Can be avoided and can increase safety.
The fuel cell operating method of the present invention is characterized in that the adjacent cell stack is sequentially ignited. A plurality of cell stacks are aligned in the housing, and ignition is performed from one side of the aligned cell stacks. In this case, for example, when one cell stack is ignited by one ignition ceramic heater, the ignited cell stack is ignited to the adjacent cell stack, and all the cell stacks are sequentially ignited. it can.
Furthermore, the fuel cell operating method of the present invention is configured such that gas is supplied to each of the plurality of cell stacks, and the gas is supplied to each of the cell stacks at a certain time during ignition. It is characterized by. In such a fuel cell operation method, for example, when one cell stack is ignited by one ceramic heater, the ignited cell stack is ignited to the adjacent cell stack, and all the cell stacks are ignited. Although the ignition can be performed sequentially, the time difference can be controlled by supplying the gas to each cell stack, so that the ignition timing can be accurately controlled and the safety can be further ensured.
In the fuel cell of the present invention, the ceramic heater for ignition is used as an ignition source, so that it functions sufficiently as an ignition source and does not generate noise that causes problems with conventional spark plugs, etc. There is no influence and it can be suitably used as an ignition source for a fuel cell. In addition, after ignition, the ceramic heater may be exposed to a high-temperature combustion gas atmosphere, but the outer shell of the ceramic heater is a ceramic with excellent corrosion resistance even in a high-temperature atmosphere, so even if it is exposed to high-temperature combustion gas for a long time, There is almost no material deterioration and the life is extended. As a result, the life of the fuel cell itself can be extended.
Further, in the fuel cell operation method of the present invention, a plurality of cell stacks are ignited at a constant time lag without being ignited simultaneously, so that a large amount of gas starts to be combusted all at once. It can be avoided and safety can be increased.

The fuel
The to-be-reformed
In the illustrated embodiment, the reforming
Referring to FIG. 3, the
In the fuel cell of the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, the
The
The
In addition, at the time of ignition, it is configured to project in the vicinity of the gas outlet side of the
Further, in the housing, as shown in FIG. 2, for example, a
FIG. 7 shows another arrangement of ceramic heaters. In this embodiment, a
FIG. 8 shows still another arrangement form of the ceramic heater. In this form, the
1, 6, 7, and 8, the
In such a fuel cell, in a steady state, air and the fuel gas that has passed through the fuel cell react and burn to generate combustion gas. However, when the temperature is low such as room temperature, for example, at the time of start-up, the fuel gas is burned. Therefore, an ignition source is required. In the present invention,

The fuel gas and air that have flowed upward from the
More specifically, at the time of start-up, the
As is well known, the power generation /
The combustion gas generated in the power generation /
Further, when the combustion gas is caused to flow in the
When part or all of the
Then, replace some or all of the
In order to be able to perform the replacement of the reforming catalyst in the reforming
Furthermore, when the
On the other hand, air is supplied to the
During normal operation, air preheated by the
Moreover, since the air temperature in the
Further, by supplying the supply of the low temperature gas from the low temperature

However, the present invention can be applied even when the reforming case is not located above the cell stack. I can do it.
Further, in the above embodiment, a case has been described in which low temperature gas supply means is provided in the air chamber and air is supplied to the outer surface of the fuel cell by the air supply pipe. However, the present invention provides the inside of the fuel cell by the air supply pipe. Of course, air may be supplied to the air. In this case, it goes without saying that an air electrode is formed inside the fuel cell and a fuel electrode is formed outside.

However, it is of course possible to provide the low temperature gas supply means in the fuel gas chamber and cool the fuel cell with the fuel gas. It is.
