Description

The present invention relates to a display device that displays, for example, an operating state of a vehicle or details of an abnormality.

Conventionally, as this type of display device, for example, the one described in Patent Document 1 below is known. In this display device, an LED 13 is arranged in a cylindrical lamp chamber 3, and a display plate 6 having a display region S is arranged on the front side of the lamp chamber 3. The display plate 6 is a colorless and transparent substrate. 7 is provided with a black translucent layer 14 to be a display area S, and a black impermeable ground color layer 9 is provided in areas other than the display area S. Further, a colored layer 15 having the same color as the black translucent layer 14 is provided on the back surface of the substrate 7 to form a display unit 10 for characters, symbols, and the like. In the display device configured as described above, when the LED 13 whose emission color is red, for example, is turned on, the display unit 10 is visually recognized darkly, and the display area S excluding the display unit 10 is transmitted and illuminated in red.
JP-A-11-51709

In the display device described in Patent Literature 1, the display area when the display area S plane is substantially orthogonal to the line of sight of the vehicle driver (that is, when the viewpoint is substantially above the display area S). When the LED 13 is lit, S is brightest in the vicinity of the center of the display area S centering on the LED 13, and the entire brightness is visually recognized as being almost uniform although the surrounding brightness is slightly reduced. However, depending on the mounting position and mounting angle (orientation) of the display device (vehicle instrument device), the line of sight is inclined with respect to the display area S surface. Then, the vicinity of the display area S on the line connecting the viewpoint and the LED 13 is bright, and the display area S (away from the line of sight) away from the line is viewed slightly dark. In other words, brightness unevenness occurs in the display area S (light emitting unit), which is recognized as luminance unevenness and visibility is poor.

As a method for improving this, if the LED is arranged on the extension of the line connecting the viewpoint and the center of the display area S, the brightness unevenness in the display area S is almost eliminated, but the lamp chamber 3 is widened and displayed. The device becomes larger and the amount of movement of the LED is also limited. In view of this, the display plate 6 (substrate 7) corresponding to the display area S is finely textured, so that even a little light from the LED 13 that passes through the display area S opposite to the line of sight is directed toward the viewpoint. Accordingly, there is a method of making the entire display region S (light emitting unit) visible with substantially uniform brightness, but this is not sufficient.

The present invention has been made in view of such a point, and an object of the present invention is to provide a display device in which the visibility of the light emitting part during transmission is good even when the light emitting part is viewed from an oblique direction.

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a lamp chamber formed by providing a cylindrical partition wall, a light source disposed in the lamp chamber, and a light transmissive layer disposed on the front side of the lamp chamber. In a display device comprising a display member having a light emitting portion and a covering member disposed on the front side of the display member and having an opening serving as a visible region of the display member, the light source is viewed from the center of the light emitting portion. It is eccentric to the opposite side to the viewpoint side, and has a wall around the opening.

Further, the light emitting unit is a surface emitting device.

Further, the partition wall is reflective.

The light source is a light emitting diode.

Even when the light emitting unit is viewed from an oblique direction, a display device with good visibility of the light emitting unit during transmission can be obtained.

A vehicle instrument device to which the display device of the present invention is applied will be described as an embodiment. FIG. 1 is a front view of the instrument device. 2 is an AA cross section in FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 is a BB cross section in FIG. FIG. 4 is a state diagram (a Z arrow view in FIG. 3) in which the vehicle driver visually recognizes the display device (neutral display unit).

The instrument device includes, for example, a neutral display unit 1, a high beam display unit 2, an engine oil display unit 3, a speedometer 4, and a display device (display units 1 to 3) as display devices that inform the driver of the operating state of the vehicle. And a hard circuit board 5 on which the speedometer 4 is mounted, a case 6 made of, for example, white synthetic resin in which these are accommodated, a black covering member 7 that covers the periphery of the display device and the speedometer 4, and a display device And a transparent and transparent see-through plate 8 covering the front side of the speedometer 4 and the like.

The display device includes, for example, a cylindrical partition wall 9 made of, for example, white and light-impermeable synthetic resin, a lamp chamber 10 formed by providing the partition wall 9, and a light source disposed in the lamp chamber 10. Chip-type light emitting diodes 11A, 11B, and 11C, display members 12A, 12B, and 12C disposed on the front side of the partition wall 9 on the front side of the lamp chamber 10, and the front sides of the display members 12A to 12C The covering member 7 is provided. The light emitting diodes 11 </ b> A to 11 </ b> C are mounted on the circuit board 5. Here, the light emitting diode for the neutral display unit 1 is 11A, the light emitting diode for the high beam display unit 2 is 11B, and the light emitting diode for the engine oil display unit 3 is 11C.

The display member 12A for the neutral display unit 1 is obtained by hot stamping or printing an N mark in black on the surface of a transparent base material 13 that is black and transparent. Therefore, for example, when the light emitting diode 11A for the neutral display unit 1 that emits green light is turned on, the black transparent base material 13 is transmitted in green, and the N mark is visually recognized in black while the background color is green. become. Here, the portion that transmits green is the light-emitting portion 14, but in the present embodiment, the transmitting region (light-emitting portion 14) has a wide range, that is, surface emission. Similarly to the display member 12A for the neutral display unit 1, the other display members 12B and 12C are provided with respective marks on the surface of the black transparent substrate 13. Note that the display members 12A to 12C may be integrated. In addition, fine irregularities (texture pattern) are formed on the back surface of the substrate 13.

A cover member 7 made of a black synthetic resin is disposed on the front side of each of the display members 12A to 12C. The cover member 7 covers the periphery of the speedometer 4 as described above, and the front surface portion 15 is provided with a circular opening 16 that defines a visible region of each display device (display members 12A to 12C). In addition, a cylindrical wall portion 17 that extends toward the display members 12 </ b> A to 12 </ b> C is provided around the opening 16. That is, the display members 12 </ b> A to 12 </ b> C (light-emitting portions 14) are recessed from the front surface portion 15 by substantially the height of the wall portion 17. In the present embodiment, the diameter of the opening 16 and the inner diameter of the wall 17 are the same. Further, since the display members 12 </ b> A to 12 </ b> C are surface emitting, the center of the opening 16 is also the center of the light emitting unit 14.

Only in the neutral display portion 1, the position of the light emitting diode 11 </ b> A is decentered above the center of the opening 16 (W portion shown in FIG. 2). Although the inside of the lamp chamber 10 is slightly widened in accordance with the movement of the light emitting diode 11A, since the small light emitting diode 11A is used as the light source, the size of the lamp chamber 10 and thus the display device is minimized. be able to. In addition, if the inside of the lamp chamber 10 is a space where the light emitting diode 11A can be moved, there is no need to dare to enlarge the lamp chamber 10 for the neutral display unit 1.

In FIG. 3, when the approximate viewpoint position of the vehicle driver (viewer) is X, the line of sight when the vehicle driver visually recognizes the display member 12 </ b> A of the neutral display unit 1 farthest from the viewpoint X is The direction is oblique to the display member 12A. Here, when the light emitting diode 11A for the neutral display unit 1 is turned on, the light emitting unit 14 (display member 12A) is recognized most brightly from the viewpoint of the driver, the driver (viewpoint X) and the light emitting diode 11A. Near the display member 12A on the line (line of sight L1 in FIG. 3). Therefore, as described above, since the position of the light emitting diode 11A is decentered (displaced) from the center of the light emitting unit 14 to the side opposite to the viewpoint X side, the brightest recognized portion emits light compared to the conventional example. It approaches near the center (center) of the part 14.

FIG. 4 shows a state diagram when the vehicle driver visually recognizes the neutral display unit 1. In order to visually recognize the neutral display unit 1 from an oblique direction, the opening 16 of the covering member 7 looks like an ellipse that is nearly circular. Further, since the display member 12A (light emitting portion 14) is recessed from the front surface portion 15 of the covering member 7, the wall portion 17 can be seen, and the light emitting portion 14 has an elliptical shape whose upper side in FIG. appear. That is, the visible region (light emitting unit 14) of the neutral display unit 1 viewed from an oblique direction is an ellipse composed of S and S1. Accordingly, the unevenness of brightness in the light emitting unit 14 is further reduced, and the vicinity of the substantially center (center) of the light emitting unit 14 having an elliptical shape can be viewed brightly.

The covering member 7 is provided with a cylindrical wall portion 17. Accordingly, the front side (the Y portion indicated by the bold line in FIG. 3) is hidden from the display member 12A position that is on the extension of the line (line of sight L2) connecting the viewpoint X and the Q point on the viewpoint X side of the opening 16. Become invisible. However, this invisible portion is a portion where the light from the light-emitting diode 11A having high directivity is difficult to reach. That is, it is a portion that is difficult to transmit, and by concealing this portion (range), unevenness in the brightness of the light emitting unit 14 that is visually recognized can be reduced.

In this way, the position of the light emitting diode 11A is decentered from the center of the light emitting unit 14 to the side opposite to the viewpoint X side of the vehicle driver, so that the visible region is visible even when the light emitting unit 14 is viewed from an oblique direction. The brightness unevenness in the (light emitting unit 14) is reduced, and a display device with good visibility of the light emitting unit 14 during transmission is obtained. The eccentric direction of the light emitting diode 11A does not need to be opposite to the viewpoint X side, and may be almost opposite.

Further, by forming fine unevenness (texture pattern) on the back surface of the display member 12A, light directed toward the side other than the viewpoint X side is reflected to the viewpoint X side even by the unevenness, so that the entire light emitting unit 14 has a more uniform brightness. Can be visually recognized. Further, since the partition wall 9 is white, it is possible to increase the transmission luminance of the display member 12A by increasing the reflection efficiency when light is reflected by the partition wall 9 on the side where the light emitting diode 11A is eccentric. The color tone of the partition wall 9 is not limited to white, and any color may be used as long as it has relatively high brightness and reflectivity.

In the present embodiment, the area (light-emitting portion 14) that is transmitted when the light-emitting diode 11A is turned on is wide (that is, the surface emits light), but only the mark emits light (transmits). You may do it. When the mark is emitted, the light emitting portion is narrowed, so even if the brightness is uneven, it is not particularly noticeable. However, by decentering the light source, the visibility is improved. As described above, the present invention is more effective when the light emitting portion 14 is wide (surface emission).

Further, although only the light emitting diode 11A for the neutral display unit 1 is decentered, the other display units 2 and 3 may have the same structure according to the position of the vehicle driver (viewpoint X). Further, although the marks are formed on the display members 12A, 12B, and 12C, the marks are formed on the cover member 7 so that the entire surface of the display members 12A, 12B, and 12C is transmitted with the light emission color of the light emitting diode. good. Alternatively, the display member may be a green or red transparent coloring material. Moreover, although the cylindrical wall part 17 extended in the circumference | surroundings of the opening part 16 to each display member 12A-12C side was provided, when the cover member 7 has thickness, the cut end surface of the opening part 16 is replaced with the wall part 17. It ’s fine.

The speedometer 4 in the present embodiment includes a meter body 18, a light guide 19 made of a colorless and transparent synthetic resin disposed on the front side of the meter body 18, and a front side of the light guide 19. A dial 21 having a light-transmitting indicator portion 20 such as a scale and a number that is arranged to indicate the speed of the vehicle, a pointer 22 that operates according to the speed of the vehicle, and a travel distance (total and trip) of the vehicle are displayed. The liquid crystal display element 23 is provided. The indicator portion 20 is white and the portions other than the indicator portion 20 are black, but in FIG. 1, the indicator portion 20 is black and the portions other than the indicator portion 20 are colorless. On the circuit board 5, an instrument light emitting diode 24 is mounted as a light source for illuminating the indicator portion 20 and the pointer 22 of the dial 21, and the instrument light emitting diode 24 is turned on when the surroundings are dark such as at night. By doing so, the indicator portion 20 and the pointer 22 are illuminated with the emission color of the instrument light emitting diode 24.
