Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus, and more particularly to correction of image density unevenness in a main scanning direction in the image forming apparatus, and to an image forming apparatus applicable to a copying machine, a printer, a FAX, and a printing machine (all including colors). .
In an image forming apparatus using a light beam scanning device, an LD (semiconductor laser diode) is modulated by image data, and the emitted light beam is deflected at a constant angular velocity in the main scanning direction by rotation of a deflecting means (hereinafter referred to as a polygon mirror). , The constant angular velocity deflection is corrected to the uniform velocity deflection by the fθ lens, and the like and scanned on an image carrier (hereinafter referred to as a photosensitive member) via a mirror or the like.
However, a phenomenon occurs in which the beam power on the photosensitive member varies depending on the scanning position due to the incident angle of the light beam on the polygon mirror surface, variation in the transmittance of the lens, variation in the reflectance of the mirror, and the like. In this case, even if the image is formed with the same beam power, the image density varies depending on the scanning position, and a high-quality image cannot be obtained.
In addition, in an apparatus that forms a plurality of color images using a plurality of sets of light beams and lenses, the images of a plurality of colors are overlapped, resulting in uneven color due to variations in the respective beam powers, resulting in a high-quality image. It becomes impossible.
For this reason, correction of beam power displacement and variation in the main scanning direction to improve image quality, correction of beam power and image signal according to image density in the main scanning direction, toner adhesion amount, and image There are technologies to improve quality.

画素クロック生成部20は、基準クロック発生部201、VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator:電圧制御発振器)クロック発生部202、位相同期クロック発生部203から構成されている。

FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing a correction data generation procedure, and FIG. 9 is a diagram for explaining a correction data generation process.
First, the LD is turned on (step S10), the beam power is detected (step S11), the LD is turned off after the detection (step S12), and correction data is calculated (step S13).
In order to calculate the correction data, first, the beam
Then, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 9, the correction data has a substantially opposite polarity to the detected beam power. The correction data '1' is the place where the beam power is the lowest, and the correction power is high. With respect to the image data, the correction data is set between '0' and '1' so that the calculation is performed on the image data so that the beam power is uniformized at the smallest.
The calculated correction data is stored in the correction data storage unit 27 (step S14).
Then, using the correction data stored in the correction
When the first embodiment is configured as described above, the image density in the main scanning direction can be made uniform without greatly improving the conventional apparatus except for the detection unit.
Further, in the case of printing a plurality of pages, the LD may be turned on between sheets, the correction data may be generated, and the correction data may be updated and stored in the correction
With this configuration, it is possible to cope with changes over time.

The sixth embodiment is different from the fifth embodiment in that the correction data from the image forming control unit is not fed back to the shading correction circuit for the image reading unit 1 (see FIG. 26), and the beam power is used for the image forming unit. The difference from the fifth embodiment is that no detection sensor is provided.
FIG. 26 is a block diagram illustrating a functional configuration of the image formation control unit according to the sixth embodiment. In the figure, the operations other than the image density difference detection unit are the same as those in the first embodiment.
In the case of the sixth embodiment, the image data of the image density measurement pattern read by the image reading unit 1 (see FIG. 24) is sent to the image density difference detecting unit 70 shown in FIG. 27, and the correction data generation method shown in FIG. As described above, the main scanning image density difference (image data level difference) is detected, the correction data is calculated by the
This correction data is sent to the same image data correction unit 29 as that of the first embodiment shown in FIG. 7, and the image data is corrected.
FIG. 28 is a flowchart illustrating a correction data generation procedure according to the sixth embodiment.
An image density measurement pattern is formed on the recording paper (step S50). Then, the pattern is read by the image reading unit 1 (step S51), an image density difference (level difference of the image data) is detected from the image data (step S52), correction data is calculated (step S53), and this correction is performed. The data is stored in the correction data storage unit 27 (step S54).
At the time of normal image formation, the image data is corrected using the correction data stored in the correction

<Embodiment 7>
FIG. 29 is a configuration diagram of a main part of a color image forming apparatus according to Embodiment 7 to which
The
The developing
The image forming operation will be described assuming that the order of the developing operation is BK, C, M, and Y. Here, the order of the developing operation is BK, C, M, Y, but is not limited to this.
When the printing operation is started, optical writing and latent image formation by the light
Thereafter, the developing operation of the BK latent image area is continued, but the development inactive state is set when the rear end of the BK latent image passes the BK developing position. This is completed at least before the leading edge of the C latent image by the next C image data arrives.
